Anyone on here who says basically piss on this kid cause he chose to go to a school that you don’t cheer for is an a-hole. You need to check your fan-ship at the door and be happy for the kid that he has a shot at his dream and a good education to fall back on in case the NFL doesn’t pan out. Since the majority of you on here are UGA fans, the majority of you should take a good look in the mirror tomorrow AM and think to yourself about the karma that will be paying you a visit soon…

I have spent part of the last six Summers in Knoxville and have some good friends there and I do know what I’m talking about. Calhouns, Ruth’s Chris (formerly the Riverside Tavern) and Chesapeakes were the only decent places to eat in or near the downtown area. There was one other steakhouse but I only ate there once so I can’t comment on it. Knoxville has suffered the same fate that almost killed Athens and plenty of other small towns in the South, the malls and smaller retail centers are closer to where the masses of people live so that’s where they go. And anyone who has been there knows that they are constantly working on I-40 through town so you better use Kingston Pike if you want to go toward the West to the mall. I was not knocking Knoxville as much as reporting exactly what I had seen. I thought it was a shame that the old downtown area had fallen so badly – I do really like the Tennessee Theater though – reminds me of the Fox a bit. Another thing, I really don’t care where the kid goes to school to play football.

Its people like us on this board who give college football fans in the South a bad rep. Im a huge UGA fan, and I read these boards and im embarrassed nearly 100% of the time. A player committs to UT, big deal!!!!! Yea hes a good MLB, yes it would have been nice to have him at UGA, but so what!? How many players can UGA sign in this recruiting class? 25ish? we cant sign everybody! they have to go play somewhere else! How many can Tech, UF, Bama, or whoever else sign? 25ish? There are enough players in the state of GA alone to fill up 3 of those teams’ class and it be a pretty solid class. Im sick of hearing “Tech stole one from UGA!” or “UGA stole a recruit from UF!” There are hundreds of kids who are capable for playing for UGA/GT in this state, yes other schools need to come recruit here, b/c UGA/GT cant sign all of them!

I am happy to have this young man become a much loved member of the University of Tennessee…. By the way, some guy was talking about Reggie White and the burning of churches, and yet at UGA you only have a select few young black men who are members of fraternities, and only a few who graduate (mostly athletes), yet you claim diversity. Knoxville is a beutifull city with wonderful river for rowing, boating next to campus, and not cow pastures as in UGA…. Go Vols

Come on fellow Dawg fans….. the tech fans are not worthy of our time. Until they can beat us more often than every now and then …. they are not a rivalry or worth our time. And the eight or nine that blog make up about half their normal attendance at a game. And yes Gator fans you have every right to brag. But at least while we are losing to you we are still winning ten or more games every year and going to BCS bowl games and winning them. There are very few coaches in America who have more job security then Richt!

To “Volman,” what Taylor probably DID NOT see was just how ugly and decrepid Neyland Stadium is– underneath all that aluminum siding and dirt under the bleachers. If you are the size of a sardine– and have the brains of one– Neyland Stadium is utopia. As for the comparison of the campus, UT is cramped– like well, a sardine can. It is the worst stadium in the SEC!

Many of you seem to let your hatred for UGA cloud your judgment. Georgia only has 2 or 3 spots left in their recruiting class. The majority of the commitments are on the defensive side of the ball. Linebacker simply isn’t a priority.

When you fill up 18 of 21 spots 7 months before signing day you have the luxury of cherry picking your last few kids. That’s what UGA is doing right now.Some people on this board are delusional.

Neyland stadium: 110,000 fans.
GT: 55,000 (if you’re lucky) with free hot dog and coke and possibly get mugged after the game.

Outside of getting a great education, I’m not sure why ANY blue chip player would want to go to Tech.

Tech alums are aware that blue chip football players want to get an NFL degree, right?

Based on the young man’s comments I have to question both his motivation and his taste. Believe me there are at least three ‘college towns’ in Tennessee alone better than Knoxville…Memphis has more to do on one street than Knoxville’s entire metro area…Nashville has ten times more that Memphis and Knoxville combined, plus a superior school…and Chattanooga is prettier than all of ‘em with plenty to do – at least that’s what young Mr. Coleman thought when he dumped UT for UTC.

As for his reasoning…if he’s looking for more than a quality school and first-rate program, then he won’t last two years no matter where he goes.

I thought the cow pastures reference was Auburn. LOL GA has two LB commits and 18 committments (13 of those are on Defense already) in a top 5 class. There are only so many spots and positions to fill….Sounds like a pretty hasty committment to the mighty pumkins…
