As far as football, Auburn will always do well in GA. UGA acts like they own Atlanta or something. Hell, Auburn is almost just as close to Atlanta than Athens is. This is a free country son. Auburn can recruit wherever they want. And as far as Alabama fans claiming they steal all the Alabama talent. Well, congrats, name me the best player to come out of Alabama in the past 5 years, 10 years or even 20 years. Your answer will not have an impact. The point is Alabama has never been a recruiting ground that determined in state supremacy. Auburn also gets a majority of their players from Florida, and now, Texas. I mean, Alabama has dominated in state recruiting for the past 25 years, then why does Auburn have the series lead on Alabama in that time span? Why does Auburn have more SEC titles than UGA or Alabama in this time span? Your answer is because Auburn is a quality program.

Georgians, why not take the high road and congratulate one of your own sons for doing well in high school sports and moving up in the world? Can you not just put your own petty squabbling aside to say “nice job kid – good luck to ya!”

What a bunch of children. Sheeeesh.

And how did pharmacy schools end up in this mix? Doubt that degree is going to be worth the paper it’s printed on once we’re all suffering under the weight of government-run health care.

I don’t think you can really say we’re having trouble attracting quality defensive players…We’ve gotten an excellent safety prospect, along with LBs, etc. The recruiting focus for Auburn this year is not defense with the exception of the DL. We need WRs, OL, DL, and probably a running back or two. Finally, Ted Roof will not be a liability. Mark my words. Kids may not remember him from his Tech days, or notice the difference he made in Minnesota his first year there, but they’ll take notice next year. Coach Roof will be brining in the best for the 2011 signing class. Watch.

As far as the atmosphere at AU goes, I have to admit that I never visited Auburn, Alabama. However, I had quite a few friends from my high school (Tucker) attend Auburn, and they seemed to enjoy the experience. I don’t recall any geniuses among them, but there certainly weren’t any dolts in the group.

As a parting shot…the season is close, let’s try to grow up a bit, and talk football?

So why do you have to attribute it to grades. Maybe the kid just doesn’t want to be an engineer. I went to school as an engineer and opted out. If I had been at Tech I would be changing schools that is a tough thing to do as a football player.

It also doesn’t help that you can walk up the gate at Tech and by a ticket for that days game unless Georgia or Auburn are playing. Both of those schools fill Tech because half of the 90,000 season ticket holders will go the game at Tech. Of course half of the season ticket holders probably live in Atlanta which would mead a lot of people make the same decission.

I’m from a town of 1,100 with one stop light– so I know about the aura of living in a place where the days are long and lazy and there are no distractions because there is nothing to do– like Auburn.

I guess when it’s all you’ve got, you have to claim the tie as the “best school in the southeast.” Of course, that would be ignoring UNC (2), Kentucky (T5), Florida (T9), Tennessee (Memphis) (T16), and Virginia Commonwealth (T21).

I mean, this isn’t even football related, but Willie the Auburn fan desperately need a reality check. I dunno what koolaid they feed you with the alumni magazine (are you even an alum at all?) but you’re making it up at this point.

UGA is known for there Pharmacy school, Law School, and Business School. I am currently working for the Design department at MARTA. All of the engineers around me come from Clemson, GT, hell even Southern Tech. They usually laugh when they discussing Auburn’s program. Was in not Au that was providing grades for their football players recently? Don’t bring a stick to a gun fight. It won’t turn out well for you.

The kid is smart. He sees Marlon Brown and AJ Green at UGA, two WRs that are going to start no matter who else signs. UGA will get their share of players (as usual). They are cleaning up already for 2010 in South Carolina, Florida and (of course) Georgia.

Coach Richt does a good job “fencing in” the state for the Bulldogs, but even the best fences have their holes. Auburn is always, ALWAYS happy to pick some of the best high school players out of the state of Georgia since the quality of Ga high school football is so high.

Back when I was in school at Auburn (the early 1980’s), Georgia was on one of its best runs ever with Coach Dooley and Herschel, but Auburn was still picking a top-notch athlete out of the state of Georgia every now and again (Tracy Rocker, Ron Stallworth, Stacy Searels, Jeff Burger, etc.).
