GT Turnover Margins – v. LSU, -3. v. UGA, +1. Not comparable really. Staffords mistake was throwing it to Morgan. It wasn’t a uga mistake that Morgan is an All-American and took it to the house. Moreover, the second half Dwyer’s runs of 60 and 23 and Roddy Jones runs of 8, 8, 62, 54 can’t all be mistakes.

Tech was even on yards with LSU, and 1/3 of those yards came in the first quarter when the game was still close (and half of those yards came in the first half).

It seems to me that CPJ thinks he can find players and assess them better than other coaches because he’s going to focus on GA and get guys that fit the system. As such, we will continue to lose the recruiting battle in numbers of stars. But, like Johnson and Belichik, I think we will continue to win football games in November

If Reggie Ball didn’t complete less than 50% of his passes and have a horrible TD-INT ratio GT would have won from 04-06. And if Gailey wasn’t so incompetent the series would have been a lot closer during his tenure, because our defense and Tenuta sure did their part from 04-06, giving up an average of 16 ppg vs. Georgia. No wins to show for it.

Bottom line, the final score is all that matters, and it read 45-42 GT in 2008. PJ is batting 1.000 vs. Richt and Georgia.

Congrats to this young man for coming to Georgia Tech and for keeping the talent in Georgia.

I may jive or pick at the ga fans from time to time, but never the young men that are awarded scholarships, etc. I praise them. I want the all the succeed, but ga lose in November.

And this talk about “terrorist tech”? Seriously… one of your active professors killed three people on campus and ran away and shot himself… And plus the US defense program gets a lot more from tech than UGA.

And about this “everyone gets mugged” business… Most of the crime isn’t on tech’s campus, it has been in home park (there are actually a lot of uga fans there as well). The area is a lot less sketchy than the slums around Athens. The actual campus is and has always been covered very heavily by cops… And its not like Athens where the cops are too busy busting football players for drunk driving. Plus, I’m not sure how many of you have been on campus in the last 5 years, it is starting to look exceptional. We are one of the greenest campuses in the world, upholding to the standards the state is starting to live up to in green living, much because of the work Tech has done… Come by sometime and check it out.

Wow I’m glad I’m not a Tech fan…Florida, UGA, Texas, Ohio State, etc. ALWAYS have top 5 recruiting classes.

Florida, Texas and Ohio State all have recent National Championships; Georgia doesn’t even deserve to be mentioned with those teams. GT’s recent recruiting rankings 2004 = 35th 2005 = 48th 2006 = 49th The (red shirt) seniors, the seniors and the juniors that beat UGA came from these lousy classes. And UGA ‘s 04, 05, 06 rankings were 2004 =6th 2005 = 10th 2006 = 4th. WOW recruiting at its best.

I hope you Ugagers enjoy this years recruiting class of yours. The question will be, who will be their headcoach? Because after a six or seven win season ya’ll have this year, Mark Richt will be run out of town. He hasn’t experienced the crybaby mutt nation, yet!

The margin was so ugly because LSU cashed in every single first half mistake and the game was over early. Credit to them.

If Georgia fans are using that game as a blue print for success, you may be in for a rude awakening this November. You see what can happen when we don’t put the ball on the ground – 409 yards of rushing offense and 45 points. Georgia’s line is going to have to be very dominant to hope for an LSU-type performance from GT. On top of that, you’re going to have to hope for mental mistakes in the special teams category…basically, an overall horrendous performance from GT.

I wouldn’t put all my eggs in one basket expecting a repeat of Tech’s abysmal bowl performance. Reality may come crashing down hard on you. But hey, keep thinking what you want. November will speak for itself.

I will say I think calling last year a “fluke” is a bit of a generalization given my poking fun at UGA’s tackling. That’s like saying GT’s losses to UGA in ‘04, ‘05, and ‘06 were the result of boneheaded plays and nothing more (4th down throwaway, Ball’s pick in ‘05, Ball’s fumble in ‘06). Those plays, and Brown’s poor tackle attempt were, in fact, microcosms of the team who was not prepared as well as the other. Like you said, the bottom line/difference was execution or coaching – which hurt UGA last year and GT in the games I just referenced.

The LSU game was a stinker. I was there, it was rough. But, bottom line, A LOT of teams would have beaten GT that night. We had three turnovers, a fumbled punt inside the 20, and a failed 4th down attempt on a fake punt. LSU played flawless ball and made us pay for our multiple mistakes…that’s what good teams do. GT played arguably its sloppiest game of the year, and you saw the result. I think you may be right with your “swagger” comment – bottom line, we played poorly and they made us pay dearly. All the credit to them. Jefferson played well. Hey, I would have loved to play against Jarret “Pick-6″ Lee like UGA got to in Baton Rouge, but Les Miles had wised up by then and given him the hook.

Look at GT’s record last year when they didn’t make mistakes/turnovers. You’ll probably impressed. The CFA Bowl was a debacle, but not many teams would have lost to GT that night, Georgia included. When we execute, we are very tough to beat. I expect our execution to improve big time in 2009.
