Stanford has an eye for Georgia talent. The Cardinal got its third commitment here when Woodward Academy’s Henry Anderson, the highest-profile of its prospects, chose the Pac-10 school.
Anderson, a 6-foot-6, 245-pound defensive, joins Gainesville teammates Daunte Carr, a safety, and Tai-ler Jones, a receiver. Anderson’s Woodward teammate Juwan Thompson committed to Duke last week and another teammate, Delino DeShields, has yet to commit. But DeShields has another fundamental choice to make — whether he’s going to follow the baseball bloodlines of his ex-major leaguer father or pursue football.

I sure hope those Red Birds put together a great program out there in the Pac-10. I hate to see USC continuously win that weak conference!
Go Red Birds!

the team name does not refer to a “red bird” but the color, cardinal. Stanford Cardinal, not Cardinals.

Whatevah… any team that is named after a color and has a tree of all things as a mascot is doomed in football. Congrats to all three from GA… at least you get a great degree that will help you further down the road.

All three of tese young men are great individuals. They had Carver Columbus on the ropes until Delino went down with a hand injury in the quarterfinals last year.
Henry can dominate games defensively and was not blocked well all year. Juwan is a workhorse with great speed. Delino is an underregnized talent in football – reminds me of Garrison Hearst. He’s really only played about one half a year of high school football, so someone, if he passes up baseball, will get a steal once he commits. Ga Tech has put the rush on him.

War Eagle, fly down the field always to conquer, never to yield…..
It’s good to see Woodward Academy get back closer to it’s past glory.

California, combined with a great education. Not a bad deal. We need someone to compete with USC out there so they don’t automatically go undefeated almost every year.
