It appears that Stafford and Knowshon leaving early for the NFL has effected Richt's recruiting philosophy..... these guys, for the most part, that they are now getting out of Florida, have talent, speed and size but they are raw. They have the talent and UGA will redshirt them and coach them up - actually do some coaching - like they used to. Unlike with the super star recruits that they can't afford to redshirt and train up because the will turn pro 1st chance they get. Things have changed on the UGA depth chart - last year and this year there have hardly been any seniors starting and just a few juniors which usually means there are no experienced leaders that have been through the wars and know what to expect when the game is on the line. Some how Urban Meyer, Saban and Les Miles convince their juniors to hang around for their senior year which is a major selling job these days with millions of dollars on the line. When players became eligible for the NFL draft after their junior year this really effected UGA because they don't have as much quality depth as Florida and LSU. If this new philosopy works Richt will have his depth and some 5th year seniors still on the team but if it doesn't work they will have a bunch of back ups that aren't quite good enough and are taking up scholarships needed to provide depth. This is a calcualted risk they are taking based on their level of confidence in their ability to 1st judge potential and to coach this potential in to winners. In other words they are going to start teaching again.

Richt and the Dawgs win a few recruiting battles within the state of Florida every year (same for UF in GA), yet the Dawgs don't win any meaningful games here. Florida is a football state, Georgia is a gymnastics state! It's sad when you're thinking in June, man I wish ND would sweep in and pay Urban $10 mill and make our lives easier. Must be sad to be a Dawg fan.. :( ! Gators will repeat as SEC & National Champions.. do I even need to say anything about the impending butt whipping of the pups in Jax! Gators don't run on the field and celebrate touchdowns, we save that for National Championships!

Welcome to the 21st century of recruiting...these kids meet each other at camps and establish relationships, they text msg each other, keep in constant touch, update each other on events happening, and paint a pretty good, postive picture of a teams future...throw in a down-to-earth coach, staff, and the chance of playing now, well that sounds pretty good...this is going to be a young team by the end of the year...these guys are going to be pushing the upper classmen on day one, they are used to being starters, winning, and will not be satisfied standing on the sideline, nor will they be happy being redshirted, as they want to play and play now...they picked up some leaders/players who play w/ emotion and this can be contagious for a team...hopefully, the learning curve from H.S. to college ball will be smooth and that the coaches aren't hesitant to pull the switch when the time comes...I not crazy about players who are happy to wait thier turnn, give me the kids who expect to be starting now...I like the swager of the players being recruited and “It ain't bragging if you can back it up!”

The difference in non-alum UGA fans is that they support the Dawgs and are UGA fans. Whereas GT fans are self-proclaimed "smarter than UGA fans" just because they "associate" with a trade school known for its engineering programs.

Doggies complain about Jackets on "their blog" yet almost every doggie post contains something negative about Tech. They couldn't be worrying that Tech is about to become superior to Ga in FB as they are in all other fields, could they? Nah. Ga does, after all, have a bigger stadium.

Re; One Win Tech's blog:

Although I am a UGA grad 1980, I am glad that the Georgia fan base is not limited to those who attended the school. Since when did school attendance become a requirement for rooting for a certain team? I have a lot of friends who went to places like Ga State , Emory, Samford, Ga College, etc.. They didnt have a D1 team, so they adopted the Dawgs. There are plenty of people who were unable to attend college for one reason or another..are they not allowed to pull for the state team? Schools and their graduate fans should embrace this fan base, not ridicule it.

In Tech's case, they need fans and they live in a city of over 5 million people. If non Tech attendees show up, and Grant Field sells out, what is the problem?

I dont go to any other blogs unless a Tech article steers me to theirs...so I am wondering, are the Alabama and Florida blogs full of idiot Georgia fans like this one is full of idiot Gator and Bama fans?.

Other than the wise and objective Bama Stan, neither school has a blogger on this board who contributes anything but insults. And not even clever, funny insults. C'mon Dawg opponents..step up your blogging game or go back to your own blog..

The gators are the top dawg in the sunshine state as we speak, but the seminoles and miami have been national powers also. The state of Florida is loaded with great high school talent and Meyer is
one of the very best recruiters and head coaches around. Georgia,Alabama,Auburn and several other
football powers gets several players from Florida and the gators and seminoles get to cherry pick who they want!! ROLL TIDE FOLKS

Most "Tech" fans have never enrolled in a single class at GT. Folks who call themselves GT "fans" think they are more intelligent that UGA graduates just because they associate themselves with a nerd college. I know a lot of GT fans, and none of them attended GT for a single day.

I know tons of UGA fans that attended UGA and tons that did not.

You GT fans are a joke.

You guys attended colleges like Georgia State, North Georgia, and Kennesaw State, but somehow, someway you think you're smart because you are self-proclaimed GT "fans".

UGA can just go on into Florida all they want. Coach Johnson is busy building relationships with Georgia coaches this year. We are going to erode UGA's support in high schools across this state as Mark "spray tan man" Richt shows his love for Florida.

For all the Gator and tech fans here, thx for coming. Good to know you are worried about our recruiting. As for CPJ going to AU, thats a real possibility, but my guess would be somewhere else, Tech is nuts if they think they can keep him if he does win anything besides our game last year. Meyer probaly doesn't plan on leaving, but ND will be willing to pay a huge amount of money to get him, if they were willing to pay 10 mil for that clown there now, they will easily go 15 for Meyer. Be hard for a man to turn that kind of money down, would set him and his kids up nicely.

Dawgtime - Please get somebody with a grasp of the English language to read the title and subtitle of this page...It don't say "JAWJA Curdawg Rekruting blog Only"

Richt will leave UGA and go back to Florida State before Urban goes to friggin' Nostra Dame. Have you ever seen the lake side homes Billy and Urban have in one of the top two states for recruiting. It's a paradise compared to living around Nostra Dame.

My opinon is that Meyer will stay for a couple of more years to try and show he can win without Tebow, he has built a pretty good talent base there. But I still think tht soooner or later no matter if it`s Notre Dame or the NFL someone is going to throw him an offer he won`t be able to refuse. I am also glad about seeing UGA being able to get some talented players from down in Fl there are great players throughout the South.

Gator Growl was right (I can't believe I agreed with a Gator), there is plenty of talent to go around in GA and FL. Both UGA and FL should be in the hunt for an SEC title every year. After they are recruited it is how well they are coached. Both Myer and Richt have done great jobs at coaching up players. With two NC you have to give Myer credit where it is deserved, he has done a better job at finishing than Richt. However, as long as he keeps the talent coming in, Richt will continue to grow as a coach and get his NC(s) as well.

Meyer pulls a Miles and turns down the dream job. He gets to be the next Bear Bryant if he stays in Gainesville. Domination in the SEC makes legends and ND eats up coaches with high expectations, old facilities, and no choice but to recruit nationally. Why do ou think they have hired coaches from Stanford and another in Weis with no college experience? Coaches don't want the job once you look at the challenge.

GT stays best of the rest in the ACC at GT same as they were under Chan. The phone doesn't ring just as it didn't for Chan.

6:09; Regardless of what you may think, this is considered a GENERAL RECRUITING BLOG, not a UGA recruiting blog. Therefore, as I pointed out in my post, others, besides, UGA fans, are not only entitled to be here and allowed to post, we are encouraged to do so.

In fact, 6:09, there are links on the AJC sports pages that actually tie into the RECRUITING BLOG from pages OTHER than the UGA site, INCLUDING the GA Tech site.

I would finally add, 6:09, before you start making snide comments, perhaps you need to get off your high horse and re-read my entire comments, including the ones where I supported Coach Richt's efforts in going into Florida and recruiting.

A whole lot of talent in Florida (and in Georgia) this year. Plenty of talent to go around, especially with both Miami and FSU programs down a bit. I would expect both UF and UGA to finish in the top 10 in recruiting, maybe even top 5. Then, it's what you do with that talent that really matters! With that being said, I like our chances year in and year out with this coaching staff. If there is one thing they do EXCEPTIONALLY well is develop players...

What happened to the article on Washaun supposed test he passed? It was front page news yesterday. Could it have been the story got out too quick and he really did not pass. Or is there an investigation that he really didn't take the class himself and some ga at ugay take it for him. That would sound about right. Ugay what a joke.

Hey fellow Dawg fans, you have to stop and realize that these Tech and Gator bloggers on here, are either youngsters, immature or BOTH. They and their opinion are insignificant. The real Tech and FL fans will post an intelligent response or comment.
Just ignore these children (or adults with childrens minds).

The more exposure UGA gets nationally - through new scheduling strategy, the more talent is going to come from beyond Georgia's borders. Tenn. has been doing it for years and it has worked for them in the past. Like some have said on this blog... we shouldn't care where they're from as long as they can play lights out football. We are always going to attract top in state talent.

The Dawgs have had many top recruits each year for the past several, but that has not helped them win titles. Each year they lose games that A FIRST CLASS QUALITY COACHED TEAM would win. So stock up doggies, and in January when you are playing in another Outback or Capital One Bowl, or worse, don't cry, because that is just the way it is.
