Carr: Nothing’s changed with Miami

By DARRYL MAXIE / dmaxie@ajc.com

Gainesville defensive back Daunte Carr says an ESPN report hinting that Miami is holding off on offering him is news to him.

“Matter of fact, I’m on a plane right now, and I’m going to talk to the coaches and get to the bottom of this,” Carr told the AJC Friday morning.

The ESPN report, posted Thursday, stated, “Sources close to the Gainesville High program indicate that the Hurricanes aren’t quite ready to jump in with a full-fledged written offer yet. They remain highly interested in Carr.”

Carr, a 6-1, 188-pound rising senior, said Miami assistant Wesley McGriff made the offer. He has previously stated that UCLA, Stanford, Wake Forest and N.C. State — in no particular order — are his four favorites.

agree with jacketbacker – the arrogance of some of these kids that feel “entitled” makes me want to puke.

“getting on a plane to get to the bottom of this!”????????? I hope this kid has a great college experience – get’s a great education – and matures into a a fine contributing member of society….whether it involves football or not.

Nothing has changed with Miami except that the entire coaching staff will change after this year when the head coach gets fired.

he was never offered, this comes directly from his HS coach, they said they were thinking of offering, but I doubt it. He may not even start at Gainesville, and he is not a college safety, He will be a weakside linebacker.

I enjoy reading all of the recruting mis-information continually posted by the AJC. You basically have kids and parents calling and emailing the AJC bragging about how highly recruited they are. Having a kid that plays HS football with some of the kids being posted about, I know for a fact that some of the information is pure BS. Just because you receive a letter from a school asking you and 500 other kids to attend their camp, or talk to a coach when he stops by your school because your coach picked you as one of his players to talk to the coach does not mean you have an offer or are being recruited. I know it’s impossible for the AJC to verify all of the claims, but you never know what to beleive when you read it.

I’am going to get to the bottom of this….Oh my, some kids don’t really have a clue to they? Since this was posted on June 19th and it is now June 23rd, can the AJC tell us how his trip to Miami went that day? I am not a betting man. My guess the farthest south he got was Clermont Rd.
