Tech gets Jefferson County QB Bostic

By DARRYL MAXIE / dmaxie@ajc.com

Georgia Tech landed a commitment today from Jefferson County quarterback Barry Bostic.

“I made up my mind about two weeks ago,” Bostic told rivals.com. “I sat down with my family and my coach and we had an elimination process. We eliminated all the other schools and I knew Georgia Tech was the place for me.”

The 5-foot-10, 156-pounder is Tech’s fourth commitment from the Class of 2010 and is rated the 14th-best quarterback in the nation according to Rivals. He rushed for 1,372 yards and 13 touchdowns while passing for 1,333 yards and 10 touchdowns.

My alma mater has produced some good Dawgs like Velasco. Best of wishes to a fellow warrior even though he is headed to North Ave

He’s being recruited as and will likely play CB, not QB.

He is actually the 7th best corner back in the nation per Rivals, he is not rated as a QB. And I still loved him in Spin City and Rocky Horror.

He is the #14 CB according to Rivals. Also, the weight listed is not a typo just an old measurment.

Nice pick up for the Jackets. Not to many scholarships left, and that will get kids to committ.

love you dogs! St. Mark was recruiting him and I know he would be the greatest thing you ever saw if he was going to UGAy. The kid had 12 offers, Mich. and FL did not offer but were still after him. He got recruited nationwide and you don’t think he can tackle anybody. YOU are the joke.

You Dawg fans were not using the word, “midget,” when you were raving about the kid, Reid, from Valdosta, that went to FSU. This kid is about the same size, although 2 inches taller…and much faster. He will easily put on 10 to 15 lbs. and give your 6′3″ 200 lb. WR all he wants. The kid can really play. Give Tech the credit it deserves here.

Bostic did not have an offer from UGA.

He’s a 3 star recruit.

He’s recruited to play cornerback.

Yo Maxie, if you’re just gonna copy recruiting sites at least do it right. CB not QB. By the way the top CB according to Scout is 5′8.5 and 165 pounds.

no offer, there’s more than one recruiting site. Rivals has Bostic the #14 CB in the country and a 4 star. Go back to your kennel

Why are we so worried about stars. Caleb King was a 5-star RB for UGA. Perfect player right? Well… Right now, he would start for GT and we play 3 RBs on every play. Roddy Jones (3-star) and Jon Dwyer (4-star) are much better RBs than King.

UGA (and Mark Richt) needs to worry about the players on the field and not the stars assigned by Rivals/Scout.

oooh KC..What a profound statement about Mark Richt! Do you really think Coach Richt gives a sh-t about what Rivals/Scout says about the players they recruit? The only people that seem to talking about stars are Tech fans because their players appear to lack them….this explains the Tech fans major league inferiority complex about Georgia…get used to it…. after this years game Tech will once again take a back seat on the bus in the State of Georgia.

Wow, a new low has been established. “Micheal,” the Tech fan, can’t spell his own name correctly. Keep up the good work maggots!

And no, this guy is not another Greg Reid. You maggots (or Gators) really think he’ll hold his own against Da’Rick? Good luck with that.

P.S. Why are there so many Gator fans on all these Tech and UGA blogs anyway? Don’t you have your own blogs?

Man, you “fans” make UGA look bad. You hammer on a kid because he hasn’t “seen the light” casted by St. Richt . You claim we have a complex about UGA when you spend your time lashing on everything GT in every GT blog.

Enjoy watching the bad R. Jones mistackle the good R. Jones this year as well, by the way.

Congrats Mr. Bostic! We’re glad to have you aboard :) .

Congrats to GT and this young man. I saw him play last year. This kid is super quick and a team leader. He reminded me of Hines Ward with his ability to run a 4.5 in any direction and not just a straight ahead run. Don’t read to much in to the size thing. He had no problem looking down the field and is constantly keeping plays alive with his feet.

Dawgtime maybe the only nutlicker on the board that can be respected. The only reason uga has not offerd Bostic yet is because the evaluation period is not over yet. He is a very good football player. How many of those 5* recruits at uga have brought a national title home? Let me help u flea bags, that would be ZERO. Just remember last year was no fluke and that is why the bit*h nation is SCARED. The name calling and put downs is proof. Good thing about Tech recruits is that the staff is not worried that the student will get in. I guess it is fun sitting on pins and needles on signing day. Stupid uga rednecks.

Ugag fans you guys are simply outrageously funny!!!! On signing day you all talk about how many stars are by your signees name. And when a Tech fan talks about it you name call and insult. Why is that? Is it that you have consistantly had top recruiting classes since CMR arrived and done little to nothing with it. You people need to worry about the future not the past. I do remember Golf and Donnan when they were coaching against Bobby Ross, George O’Leary amd Ralph Freidgen they didn’t fare too well. But CMR comes onboard and Chan comes around and you beat us because of an inept coach and his QB and now you are a Dynasty? You are a Dynasty in the recruiting field but what about the football field? FIVE star recruits doesn’t always equal FIVE star talent on the field. Remember Dawgs that only one team can win the rivalry each year on the gridiron and based on all of the posts that I have read……DAWG FANS won’t have any excuses if they fail. If you know that the DAWGS are gonna win then go ahead and cash out your retirements, max out those credit cards and Mortgage that house to the max and head to Vegas and put it all on the DAWGS now and you will be rich and VEGAS will be talking about how much they lost because if all of your fan base is so sure that it is a fluke that we won then 2/3 of the state of GA will have roughly $1,000,000,000 on that game if all you MUTTS do what has been suggested…..Overwise STFU cause all you are doing is flapping your gums and will come up with another excuse come November to your failed hopes and dreams…..or is it that you are SKEERED that CPJ may just be that good. And one last thing MUTTS please do it on the games that you think that UGA might win…..Just don’t make the mistake and do it on the GATORS cause you just might be homeless. That also goes for the JACKETS cause bee syings hurt about as long as Gator bites.

The idiot dawg fans who support my alma-mater but have never opened a textbook are on here because they are worried, scared, and not wanting to face up to the reality that their beloved dawgs are most assuredly headed down a path in the next few years where they lose 3, 4, maybe 5 in a row to Tech.

UGA fielded its best team in years in ‘08, pre-season #1 and all, but lost to a GT team that has barely scratched the surface on how good it will be, and how much better it will continue to be, under Paul Johnson.

I get a kick out of the idiot dawg fans showing up on a GT blog. Their shifts at the Waffle House and McDonald’s must not have started yer.
