Calhoun’s Rogers expected to commit Tuesday

By DARRYL MAXIE / dmaxie@ajc.com

Calhoun receiver Da’Rick Rogers, perhaps the state’s top prospect, is expected to choose between Georgia and Florida Tuesday at 1 p.m., when he announces his commitment.

Rogers and quarterback Nash Nance, best friends, are expected to announce their commitments in the school’s media center.

Rogers, a  6-foot-3, 206-pound rising senior, is the nation’s No. 4-rated receiver according to rivals.com, which reported last week that he had narrowed his choices to either Georgia or Florida. He wanted to visit Florida before making his choice.

Nance, 6-3, 200, who most recently was offered by West Virginia, also has offers from Central Florida, Chattanooga, Harvard, Mississippi State and Vanderbilt.

UGA sure will be a lot easier for his friends and family to come watch him or watch him on TV. Richt and team are great coaches. He will get plenty of playing time and land as a first rounder in the Pros one day. Hope he becomes a Dawg but whatever he does I wish him well.

roll tide…if you have nothing “mo” intelligent..or creative for that matter…to offer, please avoid making any comments at all. Kid fits better into Georgia’s offense. He will be a Dawg. Florida is just an after thought for him, I think. He wanted to visit Florida before making his decision. Sounds like, to me, he has already made his decision…Georgia. The Dogs need him more, and I think he knows that already.

If he has half a brain he will pick UF. Ga will never beat UF during his career & he will becomea #1 draft pick.

Rodgers also has MSU has a choice as well. Don’t count them out with Nash having a ship from them as well and new coach, MSU is very much in the picture for both of these guys. Hope he picks UGA!!!

AJ Greene will probably be the hottest NFL prospect in 2011 which means scouts at every game and practice. What a great way to get noticed if you are a younger player. My proof is look at how many of our guys got noticed while NFL’ers were scouting Stafford and Moreno.

Here is one more vote for the young WR to go on to UGA. However …..

what we need are tons and tons of excellent defensive players at LB, Safety, Corner and D lines PLUS about 3 great Defensive ends.

With out them …………..we will always be a hot and cold SEC team that has talent but does not championship play SEC calber D.

All he needs to look at is the arms that will be getting him the ball at UGA. They have real quaterbacks that will stand in the pocket and pass. Smart move would be UGA as far as playing time and produce greater numbers.

UGA already has a couple of big recievers in Green and Brown. UF loses all their big recievers after this year when David Nelson. Riley Cooper, and Carl Moore all leave. This is a very BIG need for Florida this year and Rogers could make an immediate impact. Plus Johnny Brantley will have two more years and I believe you will see more emphasis on the passing game since that is more his forte. Also Florida will have enough players at other positions and on defense to be highly rated and will once again be in the mix for championships in 2010!

Mr Rogers…think about your decision. Look back and see where Florida offensive players go in the draft. Not many are 1st round picks because of the system they use. At Georgia, you will get to work with Green, Brown, and Charles. Think about your future and your fans. Good Luck.

Robert, we had to deal with Gator Chomp and his 3rd grade mentality when it comes to ga/fla rivalry last year. All you can do is just laugh to yourself knowing someone like that exists. Wherever the kid goes, good luck. They’ll be more WR recruits coming along.

Gatorbait, 2 national championships in 3 years, and you still haven’t had 2 players go in the top 12 in one draft.GatorChomp, maybe he’ll go to UGA, because Aaron Murray, Orsen Charles, and Rantavious Wooten,3 top twenty players from FLA came to UGA, and that one good reason, seems to be we’re sendind more NFL Players than anyone but Lsu in the last ten years. That’s why you go to college, to get PAID when you come out! ReptilesRule, Think hines Ward, andre hastings, Reggie Brown, Leonard Pope, and Ben Watson, that’s just within the laste decade to be in a super bowl. Rodgers is staying home. Just in case you Gators need any other reason, Having 2 top 12 QB’s signed, and 2 of the top 15 looking at your School right now may be incentive, especially when one is JOE MONTANA’S son! P.S. you heard it here first, UGA will BEAT FLA this year, and send a message to the rest of college football that the NEW WORLD ORDER OF college football is about to begin. FSU will return to glory, and Michigan will become what the Big Ten expects it to be: a winner! G.T. please don’t beleive the hype, you were LUCKY. Just ask LSU! They’ll tell you you were vastly overrated.

Hey Gator Chump, didn’t the Dawgs beat UF the year before last? Rogers would probably get ran over and killed by Tebows big water head,
no-quarterbackin azz. Maybe you can root for him when he’s a fullback in the NFL. The smart choice for Rogers would be Georgia where they have REAL quarterbacks.

So now all UGA fans are more concerned about the NFL since you can’t beat UF on the field? What a loser mentality…

Big Mike–The Gators will have a QB taking over for Tebow next year that was higher rated than ANY of the QB’s UGA currently has or will sign next year….

Keep touting the NFL draft and we’ll keep winning National Titles.

Bank Walker…you have a poor memory. Percy Harvin WAS a #1 pick this year…by the Vikings. You need to read more about the NFL draft, son. Yeah, Florida did really poorly last year…only 3 WR’s drafted into the NFL last year…Murphy, Harvin, Ingram. How many for Georgia? One, I think. Yeah, the Florida system is really lousy…only 3 WRs in the NFL this year and only two national championships in the last 3 years. Sorry about that off year in between…but that will be fixed this year.

Wow. I dont know who the bigger doofus is. BigMike or JTiger. HAHAHA real QB’s JTiger? You mean the one who threw 3 picks against UF, and fell flat on his face in the biggest game of the season. Hmm Interesting as opposed to the guy that led his team to a championship (Tebow). Your argument is foolish at best, and full blown retarded at worst. Now onto Big Mike. None of the guys you mentioned (Murray, Orson, and Wooten) were top twenty players. None . See linkhttp://florida.rivals.com/result.asp. Murray @ 46, Charles @ 62, and Wooten nowhere to be found. Your statement clearly lacks credibility. Then you went on to predict A UGA upset over the gators this year with no real insight. You think you can run on UF’s front? Hmm interesting outlook. Caleb couldn’t pass protect last year, and as a gator fan I would love to see him in there trying to block Cunningham, Dunlap or Spikes coming off the edge. If y ou’re going to predict upsets then lets hear how it’s going to happen Mike. What matchups do u like in UGA’s favor?

Well one thing is for sure, as far as the NFL goes, anywhere he ends up in the SEC he will be noticed. Heck, if he’s good enough, they’ll find him at Southwest Mississippi Valley Community College! So I sure wouldn’t make my decision based on that, one way or the other. But I would make my decision based n where you want to spend at least the next 3-4 years and where you have the best opportunity to develop your talent. Remember, your college years are usually the best years of your life,so make the most of it and enjoy it and hopefully we’ll see you in Gainesville!!!

Why go to UGA? A great chance at mediocrity. UGA’s in a slow downward spiral. With too much talent stacked in the SEC elsewhere and a much better coaching level, Richt is just sliding down. He’s a great guy but the league has moved on and is leaving him behind. As much as I hate to say it, you’d be better off in Jorts Land.

Rogers could do a lot worse than picking either UGA or UF. Both will have great QBs to throw to him. Neither Murray, Mettenberg or Brantley are proven in actual college ball. All three come in highly rated. As of right now UGA really only has one “proven receiver” for next year in AJ Green. UF may lose three or four, but playing time at either school shouldn’t be a big problem for someone as good as he is suppose to be. UGA advantage is simply Rogers may have the same QB to throw to him for four years if Murray and Mettenberger are Red Shirted. Advantage to UF recent success in winning NC. Neither school will have a problem with getting him exposure to the NFL. Good luck with a tough decision Mr. Rogers. I hope you make the best decision for youself. I would like to see you at UGA, but if it is not what is best for you, good luck wherever you choose except when you play the dawgs.

Fletch-

Travis Taylor, Reidel Anthony, Rickey Nattiel, Wes Chandler were also WR’s and 1st round draft picks.

Maybe Hines, IMO a surefire NFL Hall of Famer no doubt and no arguement here, can ask Percy or Ike what it’s like to win a National Title in college…oh wait I forgot that somehow the NFL is more important to UGA fans than college football. Maybe you should forget UGA and just become and NFL fan only since thats all you want to brag about.
