Dogs, SEC rivals like JUCO cornerback

By DARRYL MAXIE / dmaxie@ajc.com

Georgia is among a number of high-powered schools interested in junior college cornerback Dequan Minzie. The Bulldogs’ SEC brethren like what they see, too.

“Alabama, Auburn, Mississippi State and Georgia have all offered me a scholarship,” the 6-foot, 195-pound Minzie told scout.com. “Georgia is a verbal offer, but I know I have one from them because their coach has come down and I have talked to him a few times.”

Tennessee and Ole Miss are other SEC schools who have offered Minzie. Nevertheless, the leader in his book is Southern Miss.

Minzie is originally from Carver-Columbus, but detoured to Copiah-Lincoln Community College in Wesson, Miss., for academic reasons. Oklahoma State and Clemson also are after Minzie, who also visited Auburn for its “Big Cat Weekend.”

“[Auburn] was a great experience, but not better than Southern Miss,” Minzie told UGASports.

Bwaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa! Bwaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!

Best quote I have read in a long time. I guess rolling Goobers corner was not enough to sway a recruit. Ha! Hattisburg is better than that dump on the Plains. What a joke.

Bit$h and complain, complain and bit$h……….If you already knew this news why read it again……………………Besides if anyone thinks that the AJC is going to “break” a recruiting story, you are really crazy.

DMax thanks for keeping us “poor” folks informed!

I grew up reading the AJC sports in the morning before heading off to school. No wonder newspapers are shutting down if this is the best “reporting” they can do. All the paper is now is a vehicle to dole out coupons on Sunday.

When will you get sued?

Do you do any reporting of your own? Hey folks for about $7 a month, you can find out all this yourself rather than waiting on these guys to regurgitate it. the AJC “reporters” dont even bother changing the wording. Its like a cut and paste job.

It’s not that big of a deal, just read rivals from now on. Back to the subject, how good is this Minzie? Anyone? I think this is the first time I’ve heard of him.

Bank Walker,

You will have to wait for rivals.com to run a story on how good Mizie is before you will find that info here a few days later.
