Heritage DB favors Crimson Tide

By DARRYL MAXIE / dmaxie@ajc.com

Heritage defensive back Garry Peters isn’t making a big deal about it, but he has told the Sporting News that Alabama is the leader among the schools recruiting him.

“I haven’t made a decision yet, but I have a top school right now, Alabama,” he said. “I just feel like that’s a place where it’s close to home, has good academics, and I feel like that’s the best chance to win the national championship one day. That’s the ultimate goal.”

The 6-foot, 173-pound junior, ranked No. 19 at his position by rivals.com, is planning official visits to Alabama and Clemson, but has been to Georgia so many times he likely won’t burn one of his official visits there.

Alphabetically speaking, Auburn, Florida State, North Carolina, Oklahoma State, South Carolina and Tennessee also are in the hunt for Peters, all of them having offered scholarships.

We’ll see how the Crimson Pride rolls with the high expectations this year. Georgia’s not the only team replacing some big shoes. That left tackle spot didn’t look so inconsequential in the Utah game. Pride comes before the fall. Roll laundry detergent!

Why would we bash him? He didn’t bring national embarrassment down on the university like Lame Kitten has UT.

…4 hours to Tuscaloosa is NOT close to home – that would be Auburn, Clemson, UGA, or SC. And good academics???? Good football, yes, but not the other reasons!

first of all….grown men obsessing over the whims of a 17-year old is just plain pathetic.

2nd….GA is FULL of talent of course other schools are going to get some good ones…good for you.

3rd…EVERY TIME one of you Tide fans gets on here and makes jokes about the blackout last year, you know what we think of?
(a) the 2007 game when we broke your hearts at the end and your classes fans throwing beer and urine on our players
(b) LA Monroe
(c) The Utah beat-down in front of the whiole nation
(d) 6 years in a row losing to AU
(e) all of the above

any guesses?

Hey guy, you might want to listen to what this ex Gayturd, who committed to Vols today, has to say:

“I want to get to the league; Tennessee is the best way for me to get there,” Brown was quoted as saying. “I’m going to have to learn how to sing ‘Rocky Top,’ because we will be singing it a lot over the next couple of years.

“It’s my goal to win a national championship while in Knoxville … Coach O is the best defensive line coach in the country and coach Monte Kiffin is the best defensive coordinator.”

The Vols are recruiting some of the top thugs, child rapist and carjackers in the nation . Anyone they manage to pry away from the Gators or any other truly top echelon team is simply a favor to that other team .

If a player that your school was recruiting falls for the Kiffin “magic” act … count yourself lucky . Anyone that can’t see the train wreck headed to at the Big Urgne from a thousand miles away is NOT the type of genius you want playing for your school to begin with .

Let the Vols babble while they still can … all youll need to really do is sit back watch what really unfolds … then laugh your azz off when the meltdown is so complete it causes the word Chernobyl to be replaced by Knoxville in the English language :-)

99% of coaches are not loyal to any school. What goes up must come down and yes every dawg has his day. It is all very cyclical. Not a fan of any team in the SEC, but boy the gators are rolling. I played and competed for 2 1-aa championships, under Paul Johnson. Another team you better watch out for. The southeast is loaded with great coaches right now.

Vandy…Funny you should talk about grown people obsessing over 17 years old kids when every time an article is posted about a kid NOT committing to UGA, dog fans attack the kid and tells about him having no future.

You can think back to 2007 all you want and get enjoyment over other teams beating UA all you want. But, if you want to think of 6 in a row over UA for AU, let me remind you that UF has owen UGA for the better part of 2 decades. All that matters is what happened last year and your preseason National Champion dogs got manhandled at home by UA, destroyed in JAX by the Gators…..again, and lost at home to Tech, a team with a first year HC who has not implemented all of his offense. However, unlike you, the only one of those games I take pure joy in is the one where Alabama came into Athens for that ever so intimidating blackout!! Cant wait to see that gimmick again!!

The Real Deal

Bama fans calling Georgia fans rednecks…thats what I call an oxymoron. The reason Bama is having so much success recruiting the state of Georgia is because the state of Alabama has pitiful highschool football. The players coming out of high school there can hardly spell thier name. Saban can’t find any good players in Alabama. Why do you think he agrees to play a game in the Ga. Dome …so he can advertize his school. Georgias got more than enough athletes to go around. The dawgs get their pick and actually lead the others lower tier schools like Alabama to the leftovers….isn’t it amazing…Bama has one decent season in the past ten years and you’d think by thier fans reaction that they won the NC. Utah and Florida show’d what Bama was really made of….how about that fake punt in the SEC championsip game…great call.
Saban teams will continue to underachieve…they always do…just look at the teams where he has beeen before…always letting their fans down..Get ready …I predict at least 4 losses for the Tide this year…Can’t wait for the finger pointing to begin!

This guy is a good player. He has quite a few offers, even though GA and FL are not now part of that list.

I know I am going to get flamed, but why do the backwoods Bama fans in this thread have to ‘tard up a thread about a prospect with smack talk totally unrelated to the article? GA fans, why do you respond with equally ignorant retorts about past defeats and the quality of football in the respective states?

It’s obvious that there are multiple programs in the South that are really good, and there are more good football players in GA than AL, if only because there are 40+ percent more people in GA.

Some fans of all schools make everyone look bad. If you don’t feed the trolls, they will die!

The Real Deal…if you are going call yourself that, at least come with something a little better. You obviously have not seen the last 2 recruiting classes we have brought in or looked at the Roster and seen the number of players from the state of AL. I can see you being frustrated with a couple of these moron UA fans on here but try to compose yourself and get your facts straight. Alabama is fishing heavier in GA this year because it is common knowledge that the talent level in AL is not what it was the last 2 years. We dont get many guys that UGA wants but we will get a couple. Same goes for players in AL. You guys wont get many away from UA but from time to time you will get a good one (Ben Jones). SO…get your panties out of a bunch try to have some fun with this instead of taking it so personally.

******HEY THE REAL DEAL******

No good high school kids out of the state of AL, right??? Typical dumb UGAY redneck….

MILLBROOK | Demarcus Milliner, rated a five-star cornerback and Scout.com’s No. 1 cornerback in the country, has pledged his services to the University of Alabama.

“I am going to be wearing that Crimson jersey,” Milliner reported before the scheduled press conference at his high school Thursday at 1 p.m.

“I love the tradition of the program. I will get a great education at Alabama. I will have a great opportunity for playing time. Those were some of the main reasons I decided to commit to Alabama.”

The 6-foot-1, 185-pound prospect chose Alabama over scholarship offers from several schools, including Auburn, Georgia, LSU and South Carolina. Alabama’s defensive coordinator, Kirby Smart, helped recruit the defensive back to Tuscaloosa.

Milliner finished the 2008 season with seven interceptions and returned two for touchdowns. He made a total of 57 tackles with 33 unassisted. He returned two punts for touchdowns and one kickoff returned for a touchdown as well.

Stanhope Elmore head coach Jeff Foshee, a former Alabama player, said, “He has so much range that he can cover a large amount of ground, and be dangerous from any part of the field. He’s basically the air traffic controller coming out of the defensive backfield.

“Demarcus can cover receivers and also be a sure tackler as well.”

It says he has been there many times, but it does not say they have offered. According to both Rivals and Scout, they have not offered yet. Does not mean they won’t, but haven’t yet.

Kid is a back up plan, doubt we want him anymore. Kirby says we’ll get our top 2 CB targets and they are two out of the 5 best in the country. Peters is a nice player but looks like a Auburn,UT type, not a elite Bama,UF or UGA one.
