Pahokee teammates delay announcement

By DARRYL MAXIE / dmaxie@ajc.com

Merrill Noel, a cornerback from Pahokee High in Florida and one who has drawn Georgia’s interest, was expected to announce today where he is going to school.

But he and outside linebacker teammate Zachary Allen — who have hinted that they might end up at the same school — have had a change of heart.

“Doesn’t look like we’re going to do it quite yet,” Allen told ugasports.com Sunday night. “We had thought about it, but we wanted to make sure. We’re not going to do anything until we’re sure.”

Wake Forest and West Virginia are considered favorites for the pair, because those schools show up on each player’s list of finalists. Georgia shows up on Noel’s list but not Allen’s.

Go to Wake, fellas, home of the ACC’s all-time interception leader and Pahokee High grad Alphonso Smith.

If you have to take the combo just to get the one you truly want, then no thank you. Have a great career, though, and make the best of college.

Be men and go where you want to go to school with or without the other one. Whats good for one may not be good for other one. Give me a break!!!!!!!!!

These two guys would likely play immediately on special teams or defense at West Virginia.
What BCS games has Wake Forest been to in the last five years? Forget about them.

To answer your question, Joel: the Orange Bowl.

Dude, it may be shocking but some of these athletes might want to play at a great school for a great coach.
