Dogs make Tampa QB’s final six

Georgia is among the six finalists in the running for Tampa Catholic quarterback Christian Green, who likely will convert to receiver in college.

The Dogs are fighting with Florida, Florida State, Tennessee, Ohio State and South Florida for the 6-foot-2, 200-pounder. Hiram Green told the St. Petersburg Times that his son had narrowed 30 scholarship-offering schools to six because “he had to narrow it down to something.”

Where the Dogs stand on that list is unspecified, but the quarterback — who is the No. 25 prospect on’s overall list — has decided to attend summer camps at Florida State, Florida “and maybe one more,” his father said.

Savannah State has offered South Paulding quarterback/safety Reggie Davis. He’s at least the second South Paulding player the Tigers have targeted, after offering middle linebacker Broderick Sellers this month.

I doubt UGA has a chance if he doesn’t come to our camp. He will most likely stay in state, but at least we’re in the hunt.

If we could somehow whip UF this year I think it would increase our chances. But hey, at least we’re on the list. I remember in a past not so long ago these Florida kids didn’t even look our way, we had to depend on homegrown talent alone.

Why was this article even worthy of the time and space it took to generate? Who cares about a mid-level QB that will play another position in college?Players of this caliber are a dime a dozen. but hey the Dawgs were mentioned, so it will surely fire the fan base up. Where would he play at UGA? Think he may beat out Murray or Mettenberger? Oh wait I bet he will competete with A.J. Greene and Marlon Brown and the boatload of other receivers.

Dogger obviously doesn’t know anything about football. UGA is recruiting a kid who is ranked as #25 in the entire country, and schools such as FL and Ohio State are recruiting him as well. The fact that he plays QB in high school but may play another position in college doesn’t downgrade this kid’s talent. First and foremost, he is an athlete who brings speed and athleticism to a team. These type of players make a team better because speed kills in football, and you always want to upgrade the speed and athleticism of your football team. Green will probably play WR at the next level, but he probably could play RB or a returner on special teams. With his size, he could probably play safety on defense as well. In short, Christian Green is a special athlete who can do many things to make a football team better, and I’m glad UGA is recruiting him. Dogger needs to talk about something he knows……and “it ain’t football!”

Hey Dogger, get back on the UF sites where you belong. You clearly don’t understand what you are babbling about.

We have the best receiving corp in the country, but depth can’t hurt. He can redshirt and play when Green, Durham and Brown are gone.

Why would any WR go to Ohio State? All they would do is watch Pryor run around or hand off.

Dogger: Does the name Hines Ward mean anything. Kinda remember he was a quaterback that after coming to UGA became a “pretty” good receiver.

Hey guys, give Dogger a break. He can’t help it if he doesn’t know anything about college football.

yeah tyler with those great QB’s you are putting out at Tennessee and your coaches big mouth, why on earth would he want to go to Georgia? A school that just last recruiting class signed 2 really great QB’s 1 of who i believe is from the same area also who’s last QB was selected first overall in this years NFL Draft..I cant imagine its beyond me. Anyways tyler the only way i see him being remotely interested in UTK is if he is wanting to see his coaches flexing in the nude or if he wants to be their starting QB.

Wow.. this is a non-story. Let us know when he narrows it down to a meaningful number. This is why I just use the AJC to read about the daily apartment fires.

If Mr. Green desires to play QB at the next level then don’t be surprised (if he has the grades) when Paul Johnson & Co. begin talks with the young man.

Remember the name Tracy Hamm??? Yes, Paul Johnson was the O.C. that invented the “Ham-bone” at GSU.

If any of Mr. Green’s “top 6″ have a bad 2009 then they are off his list.

To reiterate … if he has the grades, then don’t be surprised when GT enters his “considerations” in 2010.

To GT still in the mix…..

Still in the mix? How can that be? Georgia is recruiting him and according to a lot of yellow jacket morons you guys only recruit smart athletes and we only recruit dumb ones. Can Green do calculus? BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!
