South Paulding Parent:

I too am a South Paulding Parent, of a Freshman/soon to be sophomore player.

How can you say that about Coach Glanton? He is a good coach with GREAT morals. Look at his tenure at East Paulding and what he did to put that school on the map. I'm sorry, but the last two seasons haven't truly counted either... Nothing against any kid in particular, but there just hasn't been much to choose from.

The fruits of Coach Glanton's labor, and that of his players, will soon be realized.

I'll finish by saying that I think it would be next to impossible for a "bonehead coach" to convince all of these GREAT football coaches that a player is better than what he actually is. There is a saying, maybe you've heard it, "If when looking around you find that everyone else is wrong, then perhaps you should look in the mirror."

Way to go Ryan. Please pick the Dawgs!

Ryan, congrats on the offers to have your college education paid for. That is a tremendous accomplishment that I hope you will take advantage of under Coach Mark Richt and the Dawgs rather than out of state; but, now matter where you choose to continue your education, make good on the opportunity. Go Dawgs!

spreadtoption, You Freakin' Nerd! Get back in your cubicle until I summon you 8 years from now to update the computer network that controls the sprinklers between my beloved hedges. Guess we'll take that beehind out to the woodshed in '09 and administer a true wreck the likes of 51-10 or worse and not to run and have "championship" rings made...for a 3-pt squeaker of victory. Dorks! Go Dawgs! Punishem!

I'm so glad we FINALLY beat UGA this year since all my friends from UGA tease me about being a nerd. I've waited the past 7 years in my moms basement just waiting for this moment so there is NO WAY I'll let you dawg fans forget that the score to the game was 45-42. By the way I'm so excited about this new star trek moving coming out, do any other loser techies want to meet up with me and watch it? From my basement window I can see my neighbor (a UGA grad) who seems to have a great life and I'm very jelous so I post blogs all day about how we layed the smack down on them, hahahahahahahahahaahahahahhahahahahahaha!!!!!!

This year will be South Paulding's 4th year as a High School... 2nd year that the games actually count. I am amazed that Ryan is garnering this much attention. He is a great kid, very quick and strong, but has hardly been such a stand-out player. All I can say is that what Coach Glanton is short of in coaching ability, he makes up for in his ability to get Colleges to look at the players in a very favorable light. It is quite the dilema for us parents because Glanton is really a boneheaded football coach but works so hard to get the kids to the next level. My best advice for Ryan is to hurry up and committ to some team that will honor the verbal... hurry up and do it before the season starts.

Elephant Slayer...based on last year, I dont believe UF has what it takes to beat Ole Miss this year. I mean, you couldnt beat them at home so I seriously doubt you can beat them on the road.....just sayin.

You wouldn't run your mouth simply because you can not back it up. The Gator Nation has done so three of the last 4 years! One or two losses did not stop our quest for the National Championship, but a loss by the elephants in the SEC Campionship to the mighty Gators did stop yours! I do not believe the elephants have what it takes to get past Ole Miss this year and look forward to playing them in the SEC Championship. Saban is not the coach the elephant fans are hoping he will be, no matter what players he recruits.

Hey Elephant Slayer....I have heard the GATOR NATION run their mouths before. Urban knows how it feels to get beat by the TIDE (see first years score) Are you referencing OLE MISS because you could not beat them at home? I believe we beat them last year. Good luck this year but I wouldn't run that mouth....RTR

The Gator Nation WILL win the National Championship for the 3rd time in 4 years! Dynasty in the making! All of you elephants need to realize that Saban does not have a chance against Urban and will get stomped IF you make it past Ole Miss. I look forward to playing Ole Miss in the SEC Championship!

To Bob

Nice name. My, aren't we the keyboard cowboy. So tough and all. Were you listening to some Village People musich to get worked up? "stfu"?? Do you have "BFF"'s? "OMG"! Really?!? "LOL"!!! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! What an adolescent.

By the way, I believe Harrick left a looooooonnggg time ago. About the time your ex football coach - who lied on his resume - played ineligbile players. How long did he play them? Wasn't it "3" years? Maybe that's what the 3 meant.

Oh yeah, and answer me this - CPJ says he is going to compete with georgia for the top talent in the state. How can that be? After all, many of you tech minions claim UGA recruits the dumb athletes while tech recruits the smart ones. Reggie Ball? Stephon Marbury???

"LOL"....."OMG"....."stfu"....."ROFL"....."LMAO"..............

GTJacket didn't finish the math problem

Thank you for finishing that problem. 45-42 does indeed equal 3. Thank you for recognizing that. You are on par with your UGA basketball teams back in the day. Again, how many points is a 3 point shot worth in basketball???

And here's a hint GTJacket didn't finish the math problem , you already answered this question.

And another for you, stfu you clown.

This kid may get just a little better coaching at Bama because the head coach is his position coach since Saban was a db and has coached dbs all his life.

Same thing if you're a qb and you go to UGA. You may be a little better coached than say if you went to Bama since I think the head coach CMR was also a qb.I don't know if he coaches the qbs now at UGA . But since he was an offensive coordinator I would think a qb prospect would be better off at UGA.

But I would be very careful in making a blanket statement such as a player has a better chance of going into the pros because Saban is coaching him. Saban is a good coach but then so is Meyer, CMR, Miles, Spurrier, Petrino. Hell, I don't even know if there are any bad coaches in the sec except maybe Kiffin based on his pro record.

Its ludicrous for any one fan to state that any particular player has the best route to the NFL by going to his particular school that he's a fan of. The only edge I could see him getting is if his head coach also is his position coach. Then and only then could I see a player as legitimately having a little better chance of getting to the nfl due to his coaching. And even then I don't think its a huge advantage by any means. Anywhere you go in the sec you are going to get good coaching.

I mean, you DID take that tough calculus class at GT didn't you, GT Jacket? The way many of you GT fans talk, you discovered a more difficult "strain" of calculus that really distinguishes your curriculum from the rest of the world.

jjbamaman - I don't doubt for a minute that Saban is a great coach, but I'm still puzzled why many fans (choose your school) will say their coach is the best path to the NFL. I believe CMR has done an outstanding job channeling young men to the pros. Many other coaches in the SEC and ACC can say the same, so I don't see how making that claim can be in your favor. Just sayin....

I'm sure this kid, Ryan will do good wherever he goes, but his best chance of going to the pros would be with Coach Saban. The states of Texas, Georgia and Florida seem to consistently have the best high school programs in the south. I wish the best for this kid and the Crimson Tide.

Maddog,

We got a lot of criticism for signing 32 players for the class of 2008 and a lot of know nothing people were saying that we were oversigning and that guys were going to have their schollies yanked because we oversigned, etc.

What no one seems to mention is the simple fact that when reporting time came in August we actually came in 1 or 2 players under the limit. Saban already knew there was going to be attrition for medical scholarships, guys that would transfer, 2 went pro baseball, a couple didn't qualify, etc.

I think he knows better what's going on with the scholarship numbers then a sports columnist or an AJC blogger and the fact that he came in with schollies to spare when reporting time came just proves it.

Dave in Tampa, Who we open with is not the question (typical dvmb dog fan). We dont' loose our out of conference games (or the one the first week of November). Oh, and when you speak to a Gator you start and finish with 49-10 (or 16 outa 19). Like this "49-10, Gator Bite: who do the Gators open with this year, 49-10?" or for you "16 outa 19, Gator Bite: uh, uh who do Florida, uh uh, do you want to supersize that, uh open with this year, the dawgs dominate everbody they are my life and the greatest, 16 outa 19?
We win National Championships, you brag about your recruiting classes and loose to a bunch of brainiac nerds at home. You should move to the acc, but your admission standards aren't high enough.

Ryan - Why go to UGAY or UA when you can come to "DB U"? That's what ESPN said anyway when SCAR was voted the #2 DB University based on the number of startes in the NFL:
- Sheldon Brown (2nd round)
- Dunta Robinson (1st round)
- Andre Goodman (3rd round)
- Jonathan Joseph (1st round)
- Ko Simpson (4th round)
- Fred Bennett (2nd round)

And 3 starter from SCAR's secondary were drafted (late) in 2009. This is all in the last 5-7 years. No one else can compete w/ those numbers in the secondary.

Build a fence - I believe Lane Kiffin has tried that approach unsuccessfully.

It's hard to keep all the talent in state when (1) the state is as talent rich as Georgia, and (2) so many excellent programs are just a short (or medium) drive away.

Regarding Bama, are they planning their usual 27-30 signees for next year?
