Butler Dawg,

If you don't care, then move along. It's a pretty simple process. There are plenty of people that care. Go root for your team that can't go weeks without a DUI or arrest.

Que,

Thanks for following the program and suporting. I agree Coach Barnes is building a program but too many people live in a microwave era where success has to be instant. This team returns 9 letterman and 3 starters. We are adding two big man that will immediately contribute. Things look very bright downtown.

If you haven't got your football tickets yet, hit the site up: $100 for season tickets.

Go Panthers!

Good looks Ben, I just wanted to make a valid point, that transfers can make a difference. I guess I got too carried away on the record, but that Georgia State team was a force to be reckon with. Im not a big GState fan, but had a few close friends play there. I just want to see a good coach, Rod Barnes, take this program to the next level.

Que,

Gotta clear up some facts in your article here a little. Shenard came home after a family member passed away and along with Kevin Morris, who was run off by Cremins at Tech, formed a scoring duo that hasn't been repeated. The record that year was 29-5 in our loss to Maryland in the 2nd round that went to the Final Four. They won it, the follow year.

I agree this year will be very intersting with Nero and Taylor in the mix to provide quality depth. We will have the tallest team in the conference and I could see a 6-8 win increase of this year with the right breaks.

Lefty Driesel did the same thing by bringing in Shanard Long (Georgetown, Kevin Morris (Georgia Tech) and Darryl Cooper (LSU) to GState, in addition to signing Thomas Terrell (Missippi JUCO) and Lamont McIntosh (Redan high c/o 2000). The result, 31-3 record (school record), Atlantic Sun Conference Championship, 2001 Automatic Bid to the NCAA Tournament which led to a first round upset over Wisconsin. The team lost in the second round to a Juan Dixon led Maryland team that won the NCAA championship. Those aformentioned reasons, is why you bring transfers in to rebuild a program. I agree, a side from Dukes-who started a few games as a fresman at Wake Forest, most of the transfers did not live up to thier billing. However, all are returning, along with an underrated Trae Goldston and this talented recruiting class. How will coach Barnes put it together? We shall see; but I am confident, G.State will be on the brink of dancing in the NCAA's again.

What is difference in brining in JUCO's who have two or three years in a program and recruiting one and done's? It takes more than one to make a team, generally the more experience a college player has the more they can contribute!

Josh, why do you think that? Not criticizing your comment, just curious. Barnes had to rebuild after the mess Perry left and so he brought in a bunch of transfers last year in hopes of putting together a winning product on the floor quickly to attract fans and recruits but unfortunately most of the transfers were complete busts. Joe Dukes was the lone exception. But he has lined up GSU's best ever recruiting get in high schoolers Rashanti Harris, one of the top centers in the nation and James Vincent, another stud. And Barnes has proved he can coach so there's nothing to worry about there. They finished strong last season and will only get better. Expectations were way too high with last year's transfers but pay attention to this squad next year, they might be the best team in the state (not saying much these days I know but still).

All the influx of transfers will be what kills Rod Barnes chances of ever making this program anything.
