Westlake LB Michael Taylor gets offer No. 9 from Virginia Tech

Westlake linebacker Michael Taylor, one of the state’s few prospects that holds early scholarship offers from both UGA and Georgia Tech, got another offer. Virginia Tech gave him the news on Tuesday.

It is No. 9 for Taylor, who also holds offers from Miami, LSU and North Carolina State.

“I like Virginia Tech and that’s definitely one school I want to visit before I make my college decision,” Taylor said. “I can go SEC or ACC. I’ve got offers from four SEC schools and four ACC schools, the two biggest conferences in the South. That’s an honor.”

Taylor, who lists UGA as his top choice, is considering visiting LSU on Saturday.

“I’m just taking my time, checking things out,” Taylor said. “I want to take official visits next year to see how the campuses are on game day. I want to see how it would be … to be a Bulldog, or a Tiger, or a Hokie, or a Hurricane.’”

He may have offers from both UGAg and Tech but he definitely does not sound like he is interested in becoming an engineer. Notice how they were never mentioned within the article. But of course the AJC will blow this up to be some full blown battle between the schools in the effort to increase its newsworthiness. Some kids would rather play for a mediocre team with tons of talent and then work at the local Walmart, Lowes, or Poultry Plants rather than play for a great coach with less talent that over performs and then have a great career if football does not pan out. Shows their true cognitive ability…doesn’t it?

Actually, he could get an excellent engineering degree if he went to Virginia Tech. NC State is a good engineering program as well. Don’t let those blinders fool you. In fact, all of the schools he mentioned, except for LSU, have very good to excellent academic reputations. Just because he may decide that GT is not the best fit doesn’t mean he’s destined to be a greeter at a big box store.

Are you assuming UGA grads work at Walmart and Lowes? That is a very ignorant comment sir. You know all too well that UGA has some of the most affluent people in the state. Where did our Governor go to school? hmmm. Did he put Walmart on his resume? And if we are so dumb as you claim, then why is our Athletic Association the third most profitable? I guess we are smart enough to count to $42 million dollars in profit from 2008!

Wow…Chris just said he can count to 42. It’s a shame UGA has to talk so much trash here a night after they get their butts handed to them at home. 11-6. THWG!

It is so very obvious everytime I read a blog, that Tech fans are really jealous of UGA. I wonder why they cannot take pride in what they have rather than show their ignorant side by negative blogs. The tacky blogs from Tech fans on here deviate from the article in order to insult their rivals.
Act like you have some sense, Techters!

I have never seen two schools hate each other so much and make so little sense.

Wow—I moved here from Ohio 1 year ago with no interest in or allegiance to any teams/schools in the region, but i’m a big college sports fan (U of Michigan). While I agree that a lot of Uga fans tend to be a bit obnoxious and full of themselves (and some even a bit frightening), I still prefer them to the sniveling lot of Gt bed-wetters. I’ve never observed a more pathetically insecure, hysterically inferiority-complex ridden group of human beings. A simple post about in-state recruiting like this one devolves into another occasion for Gt fans to lash out. If I didn’t know any better I’d say the whole lot of you are Woody Allen clones.

Mind your own business Yankee, go root for the Steelers!!!! I do not know which we hate more: Nerds or northerners pretending to know anything about this rivalry.

Thanks for the confirmation that Tech fans are losers, nerds, virgins, etc. but Yankees are not much better.

It’s funny how you can make such comments when you don’t know anything about a person. I am related to Michael and in his defense he is a BRILLIANT kid. He has a 3.5 GPA and will excel in ALL aspects of life. Michael has enough cognitive ability and morals to know that you don’t spend your leisure time blogging and making stereotypical comments about individuals you don’t even know. Thank you for providing further motivation for him to EXCEED others expectations of him!
