One would THINK that young Montana would go to ND because Joe went there. didn't hold true with Peyton and Archie! I would love to see Ncik attend Georgia. A fine prospect and what a pedigree! Wherever this young man goes he will excell. The one school I hope he doesn't choose is South Carolina. Forget Spurrier for a minute....Columbia, South Carolina is like going back into the 40's of 50's.. Spurrier is getting ready to golf "full time". Young Montana could flourish under most ANY coach but Spurrier would hold him back. Big deal that Spurrier was the Heisman winner in '66. Most of the good black athletes were in Viet Nam. He had no competition. Bottom line....the university of South carolina is a S H ! T HOLE. The best thing EVER to come our of South Carolina was Interstate 20. Lastly, Carolina really P!SSES me off using the initials USC. Sure, they are the initials for University of South Carolina....but Southern Cal has used them for years. We all know who the REAL USC is!!!!

You act as if Georgia is some criminal type program based on statistics that don't reveal the truly minor violations(minor possesion, minor possetion, minor possesition)? Please tell me what schools you pull for and I will be glad to tell everybody what kind of stuff your kids have been up to!

Ah yes! Pitbull has just made the most rational post I have read by GA fan all year! As an opponent I would like to have seen a scholarship wasted on a guy just because his name is Montana. I hate to admit it but Pitbull is not delusional. BTW, I thought Theisman was Hanratty's backup. Somebody help me.

I am sure Nick Montana is an outstanding young man and would make an excellent Bulldog QB. However, we already have some excellent QB talent in Athens and I am sure they will lead us to many victories over the coming years.

I would much rather recruit an unknown kicker who can consistantly kick it into the other teams' endzone on kickoffs.

I would much rather recruit an unknown Fullback to step in in 2010 and effectively block like a pulling guard for our Tailback.

I would much rather recruit an unknown Safety that can knock the crap out of the other teams' receivers and running backs to the point that they are thinking about him rather than holding on to the ball.

I would much rather recruit an unknown DE or DT that can consistantly pressure, rush, and tackle other teams QB's and in general make them miserable when they play us.

That is what Georgia needs and that is what I would much rather recruit.

It's funny, but I can't imagine hating a team or school so much that I would rather read and comment on their articles rather than read and comment on articles about my own sorry-as_ team or school. Go Dawgs, and just the fact that Montana visited us certifies the fact that we are a national recruiting power, or well on our way to getting to that point. Woof-Woof!

Can someone please tell the Cocks and Vols they have their own fourms...wait maybe not...so stay around losers..anyone that would compare Spurrier at Cockville to CMR is just living in the past how many SEC champs has he had at Cockville? How many times has his team ended the year raked ahead of CMR and the Dawgs?..Anyone that compares a coach of CMR's record to a numbskill that has YET to win a SEC game is beyond hope.

As some have pointed out, this article shows the national prominence that CMR has brought to UGA. Mr Montana's comments show that CMR wants players with character, and that players appreciate that. Both Rivals and Scout have him as a four star. But, one shows him 6'2", 177 lbs and the other has him at 6'1", 185 lbs. A skinny kid by either account. Good luck to him.

Gooooo Dawgs!!

Richt wouldn't recruit Montana just because of the family name, so if he is the right QB for us to go for next year, let's hope he jumps on board. If he goes to UT, let's hope we dominate him like we dominated Casey Claussen, his current high school QB coach.

Montana wants to play @ UT all reports state this. Tennessee is his #1 choice. Go to Rivals and look it up. Tennessee has not offered because he is not the #1 choice, the kid in Oregon is and they do not want to lose out on him by offering to Montana first. Keep dreaming UGA as you always do!

Richt "develops the players in the program to be better Men"?

Is this a joke? The program that leads the country in arrests? And these are the ones that get caught.

Joe went to ND. If Nick does not, that says a lot about what the two of them think of ND these days. Nick is highly rated by Scout.com. Being national # 11, a 4 star prospect, as a high school junior age almost 17 is not bad. He's still growing at 6'1", 190 (Rivals says he's 6'2"). He can run also, with a 4.60 40. Not blazing speed, but fast enough.

Rivals rates him a 5.8 (on a scale of 4.9 - 6.1), a pro prospect and an impact player at the college level. Any of the schools courting him would do well to sign him unless something changes for the worse next year.

Let's face it. CMR is not ayouth pastor. He has what? 60-70 teenage boys and 20 somethings, some come from troubled backgrounds, probably been exposed to alot of stuff early in life, perhaps some with no father figures, raised by their grandmothers, etc..CMR can't hold their hands on the weekends when many of their classmates are throwing down with their keg parties. You can lead a horse to water but you can't make him drink it. Just look at Mike Vick.

The Crimson Tide practiced in front of more 1,200 high school and junior college coaches in town for Alabama's annual coaching clinic. Coincidentally Nick & his father were at this practice. Perfect timing for Bama. Speakers included Ozzie Newsome, Derek Dooley, Jason Garrett (Dallas Cowboys) and Stan Hixon (Washington Redskins. It concluded with legendary Nebraska football coach Tom Osborne speaking. Everyone had a grand time. Bama is looking to sign a couple QB's and they have a superb Business School.

Davis,

What exactly has happened recently that makes you fearful that we'll soon be Florida State North? I agree that "better men" make "better decisions" but are you faulting Richt for trying to instill certain values or are you faulting him for not bringing young men of higher character to Athens? If the latter I think Richt should be applauded for cutting loose Dexter Moody. But even the so-called "better men" you describe sometimes get into trouble. So really there's no guarantee. I also agree that instilling spiritual values should lessen the risk of bad behavior. But again there's no guarantee. After all, you can lead a Dawg to water but you can't make him drink.

As for judging it seems you only want to apply that principle to others and not yourself. Perhaps you would see things more clearly if, instead of pointing out the speck in the eyes of others, you removed the log from your own.

When Richt was at Florida St you did not start until you were a junior or a senior they always were deep at the position and you had to wait to get your start. Richt is building this program just like Florida St in the 90's.

I like what Mark Richt it trying to do this offseason. He's going back in time to 2001 and placing the emphasis back on character development/conditioning. 2007 was misleading. UGA has slowly gotten away from what brought it success in 2002-2005. Character development is certainly not just a Christian value, but Coach Richt's emphasis on developing the entire person was certainly successful in the past and will be again. I felt the last 3 seasons looked a little too much like some of those Jim Donnan teams in the late 90's, in that the team had NFL caliber talent in certain positions, but there was not a lot of focus on team, player development, or accountability. Talent is certainly important, but as an intentity in and of itself it does not gurantee success. Coach Richt has made no apologies about his Christian faith, but he is open minded enough to allow players their own religious beliefs. Former UGA running back Musa Smith is an Islam practioner. He was not a Mark Richt recruit, but he was very successful his last season in Athens rushing for 1,000 yards. So again, I'm glad Coach Richt is going back to the drawing board and recruiting guys that have character and want to be at UGA for more than 3 years.
