Who will be Georgia’s first 2010 commitment? Dalton defensive end Jalen Fields may take the honor.
The 6-foot-5, 245 pound Fields says he is attending Georgia’s Junior Day on Saturday, and there’s a high probability he’ll commit to the Bulldogs.
“I think my chances are high,” Fields told the AJC. “I’d like to commit this year, and not next year. So I think my chances of committing to Georgia on Saturday are high. Pretty high.”
If so, he would be the first junior to give an early pledge to Georgia. Fields has seven offers, with Tennessee coming on strong. But Georgia is first in his heart because they were the first to offer.
“Yes, sir, I’m a hometown fan, I’ve been a Bulldogs fan ever since I was born,” Fields said. “That’s the team I watch on TV, Georgia and Florida State. My high school coach took me to some Tennessee games. But he knows Georgia is my team.”

This is totally Righteous he is from my town that would be sooo cool i have for a long time wanted to see someone from Dalton Georgia in red and black ever since kris durham signed with the dawgs out of Calhoun. Jalen Fields is a really good athlete and even better young man…Ya know everybody likes to say that North Georgia Football is a big time snooze fest but every year the competition in northwest georgia keeps on getting bigger stronger faster and more fierce. The Dalton High Catamounts have a really good program Up here and play in a tough division which is 4AAAA. Yet Each year just about they seem to get into the state playoffs. Way to go Jalen Fields I hope you Sign with UGA.

With the type of schools that are interested in Jalen, he can’t lose. But one question that is always important to ask, “Where am I going to live when I’m done?”
Because if you think you’re going to continue to live in Georgia, you should go to school instate. Your future fellow classmates are the ones that you are going to be working with and around and doing business with for the rest of your life. If you’re going to live in Tennessee, you might want to go there. But going to Tennessee or FSU and then working in Georgia won’t give you an edge.
Like I said though, you’ll be fine.
