Top recruit Bryce Brown signs with Tennessee

Standout high school running back Bryce Brown has signed a letter of intent with Tennessee.

Brown, who is ranked as the nation’s No. 1 prospect by Rivals, announced his decision from the Kansas Sports Hall of Fame in Wichita on Monday.

The Wichita East High School star had narrowed his final choices to Oregon, Miami, Tennessee, Kansas State and LSU. Brown told the Knoxville News-Sentinel that his return trip to Tennessee last weekend made a big difference.

“I asked God before I went down there to reveal it to me,” Brown told the News-Sentinel. “When I first went down there, I really wasn’t feeling it. Before I left, I got the sign. That right then and there told me I would be a Volunteer.”

He committed to Miami a year ago but chose not to accept the school’s scholarship offer before it expired on Feb. 18. His brother is Miami linebacker Arthur Brown.

During his announcement, Bryce Brown first pulled out a Miami hat, then handed it to his brother before pulling out a Tennessee hat.

Brown waited nearly six weeks after signing day to make his college choice. Tight end Orson Charles of Tampa also delayed his decision, signing with Georgia in early March.
