TV best bets with ‘Fringe’ series finale, season finale of ‘Project Runway,’ returns of ‘Anger Management,’ ‘American Idol’ return,

There are plenty of beginnings and ends this week, plus the beginning of the possible end of “American Idol,’ which returns Wednesday, a bit ragged and weary after 12 seasons with hopes that Nicki Minaj can spice things up.

Another aging show, Lifetime’s “Project Runway” finishes its second all-star edition while Atlanta-connected shows abound this week.

Oxygen’s 10th season of “Bad Girls Club” returns Tuesday and was shot in Atlanta last year, for better or worse. On Wednesday, Style tries out spin-off “Big Rich Atlanta” on for size. On Wednesday, two younger Wayans and an actor who used to play a fictional Wayans will arrive on BET with a fictionalized version of themselves in “Second Generation Wayans,” shot in Atlanta. On Thursday, FX brings back the fourth season of Atlanta-animated series “Archer.”

And on Saturday, two Atlanta podcasters get all geeky on us on the Science Channel with “Stuff You Should Know.”

Oh, and Charlie Sheen is back with the first of 90 more episodes of “Anger Management” on FX Thursday.

“The Biggest Loser” 8 p.m. NBC — The players take a trivia test focusing on childhood obesity.

“Bones” 8 p.m. Fox — A professional ballroom dancer dies before her audition for a reality-TV dance competition.

“The Carrie Diaries” 8 p.m. the CW (new series)  Imagine “Sex and the City” star Carrie Bradshaw as a teen.

“Continuum” 8 p.m. Syfy (new series) — Eight convicted terrorists escape a planned execution in 2077 and travel back to 2012.

“How I Met Your Mother” 8 p.m. CBS — Barney and Robin are now engaged. Hard to believe, eh?

“Shipwreck Men” 9 p.m. Discovery (new series) — Following four rival salvage operations off the coast of southern Florida.

“Hawaii Five-O” 10: p.m. CBS — A college professor’s murder is investigated.

“Castle” 10:01 p.m. ABC — A promising DJ is murdered at an album-release party.


“The Bad Girls Club” 8 p.m. Oxygen (10th season debut) — These unruly ladies create havoc in Buckhead.

“NCIS” 8 p.m. CBS — The NCIS team unites to demand answers after a tragic event strikes close to home.

“Pioneers of Television” 8 p.m. GPB — Female comics get the focus so we’ll see Carol Burnett and Lucille Ball for sure.

“Face Off” 9 p.m. Syfy (fourth season debut) — Syfy brings this show back just 11 weeks after the season three finale

“NCIS: Los Angeles” 9 p.m. CBS — A marine’s distraught widow questions the circumstances surrounding his death in combat.

“New Girl” 9 p.m. Fox —Jess tries to help Nick repair his relationship with his con-man dad.

“The Sisterhood” 9 p.m. TLC — The Lewises consider broadcasting their services but can’t agree on who gets the spotlight.

“Ultimate Guide to the Presidents” 10 p.m. History (new series) — The formative years are examined.

“Justified” 10 p.m. FX — Raylan tangles with members of a dangerous family.

“Parenthood” 10 p.m. NBC — Victor’s adoption deadline nears.

“Real House-Husbands of Hollywood” 10 p.m. BET (new series) — A semi-scripted spoof featuring Kevin Hart and his buddies.

“Second Generation Wayans” 10:30 p.m. BET (new series) — Nephews of the comedic Wayans brothers seek their own success in a sitcom shot in Atlanta.


“American Idol” 8 p.m. Fox (12th season debut) — New judges Keith Urban, Nicki Minaj and Mariah Carey change the equation.

“Amish Mafia” 9 p.m. Discovery (first season finale) — Controversy over how much of this is real hasn’t hurt ratings.
