Interviews with the ladies of TLC’s new show ‘The Sisterhood’

Loading ...TLC hopes blending a little Bible Belt religion into a genre better known for backbiting, verbal and physical sparring and jealousy will create alchemy in a new reality program called “The Sisterhood,” which debuts tonight at 9 p.m.
Five metro Atlanta preacher’s wives give us a look behind the curtain of lives where they feel they are held to a higher standard. Ultimately, they want to show they are regular human beings with sex lives, financial problems and dark pasts.
I don’t get the impression any were close friends before they were put together for this program. Three of them work at existing churches where their husbands are preachers. Two are without a flock. All five are married. One was part of an R&B group for a brief moment. Two are in mixed-race relationships.
In the first episode, we meet four of the five women. Three ladies clash almost immediately. Domonique Scott, whose husband lost his church after they hit financial straits, and Ivy Couch, a newlywed who was briefly in the group Xscape, go at it with Tara Y. Lewis. Tara is part of an interracial couple that came to Atlanta from Los Angeles but lost their jobs at a Dunwoody church after just six weeks.
In their view, Tara comes across as holier than thou.
Tara keeps citing scripture. The other women tell to stop being so annoyingly dogmatic.
“I love the scripture… But when we come together like this, you don’t feel the need to reference the scripture,” Ivy told Tara in the opening episode.
“One thing you’ll learn about me is I’m kingdom,” Tara said. “You can’t evangelize without the scripture… God has really graced me. That grace is in ministry.”
Tara then said her “effectiveness” in church “is unquestionable.”
“Her communication skills need a whole lot of work,” Domonique told the show cameras. “She’s bananas.”
“I always knock people off their feet,” Tara said in an interview last month. She is aware the “wives” shows are popular but refuses to watch them, saying she only seeks “positive” shows. “I really think that so many people are saddened by what they see. There is popular culture interested in something new, something fresh, something inspirational.”
She is big into physical fitness and healthy eating. She is also into HGTV shows. She only listens to Christian music.
Domonique in an interview said “reality shows can be a form of ministry.” She actually embraces watching the other “wives” shows. “I’ve learned a bit of what to do and what not do to. What to wear, what not to wear. It’s all good to me. I believe what will set us apart is our ability to be able to move forward, to agree to disagree, to be honest. And we’re all married. But we aren’t perfect. We have tax liens. We have issues.”
She said her church was relatively small, with fewer than 100 members but the recession made it even harder on them. Ultimately, they had to shut their doors. The show will reveal how she and her husband Brian will try to get back on their feet.
Ivy, in an interview, is also a fan of reality shows. “It helps me as a release, when I need to step away from the daunting, hectic things in life,” she said. She realized doing her own reality show makes her vulnerable but feels “I’m an open book. I won’t be fake or pretentious or phony.” She said preacher’s wives are “supposed to be perfect and don’t have issues and God. That’s not the case. I’m not perfect. This is a daily struggle.”
Of all the women I talked to, she came across the most philosophical about her life.
Her past, she said, includes plenty of hard partying but doesn’t regret her past. “I’m grateful for the struggles and mishaps and grateful for what they deem as the non wholesome. It made me a real person, a person people can relate to. I can meet you where you are.” She has worked hard not to be a people pleaser, to have her own opinions and not judge others. She hopes people who watch her don’t judge her based on shallow impressions but to get to know her over time.
Her husband’s church, Emanual Tabernacle, is based in the inner city of Atlanta and has been around for ten years with about 1,000 members. She has learned that it’s difficult to be transparent as a First Lady, as they are often dubbed. They are often whispered about and any negative actions can be blown out of proportion. The toughest part of her job, she said, “is remaining consistent and putting other people before yourself. I think if you’re self consumed, you can’t be effective.” She said when a congregant tells her about their lights being turned off, about not having enough to eat, “my issues don’t seem so pressing.”
She hopes “The Sisterhood” will bring people laughter. “Humor is needed in the church world and the secular world,” she said. “I hope people come away with seeing church people are normal and God is real. It’s going to be an interesting ride, never a dull moment.
Christina Murray gets plenty of airtime in the first episode and comes across as sweet, grounded and loving to her husband and children. She and her husband Anthony opened Oasis Family Life Church seven years ago in Paulding County and now has a mixed group of 2,000 congregants and is growing rapidly. “I honestly feel that my husband and I are a little more cutting edge,” she said in an interview. “We’re not your typical traditional style church. My husband is transparent and real. There’s no sugarcoating.” She considers it a “very loving and embracing style ministry. The music is diverse and multicultural. It could be rock or traditional southern church gospel.”
The one lady who does not show up in the first episode but will presumably appear later is Delana Rutherford. Her church Worship With Wonders in Kennesaw is “very praise and worship. We have a soulful sound. It’s eclectic.” It opened six years ago and now draws 500 people a week on Sunday. It began in a movie theater but now has a 27,000 square foot facility. “The Word is not compromised,” she said. “The worship of spirit leads. We let God do what we have to do. People are hungry for that. People feel very free to worship and be transparent with stories and what they’ve been through and not be judged.”
Doing this show, she said, “is an assignment from God.” Like Tara, Delana avoids reality programs of similar ilk. She hopes people who watch “The Sisterhood” are “not just entertained but changed. Their lives are touched. They’re blessed.”

I miss it too. I’m almost ashamed to watch it now (shamefully I have gotten hooked on the sudden influx of “Amish” shows. Another exploitation.). It’s like it’s almost nothing but reality shows that are borderline trash, rash, boring and for some of us embarrassing. I am embarrassed to think the rest of the country thinks Honey Boo Boo and her entourage represent Southerners.
Genuinely and sincerely TLC, can’t you find just one family/group that gives the world a glimpse of what REAL, true Southerners are like? Stop using us for laughing fodder for lining your pockets.

This show is a disgraced to all Christian families, I hope a Christian coalition group comes foward to make sure this show is taken off the air. I am Christian this is a Joke and this is not what present Christian families, we do not behave in such way, we know how to have fun and have a good time withing the christinn morals, there is no way a pastor will be showing his teenager daughters how to use a condom. Yes we are normal and we are human, not perfect but this show has the wrong name and representation…..”House Wifes” Speaking in tongues is a gift that comes from the holly spirit, get ir right. They only pray and preach at church, out of the church is prohibited!!!!!

As for as the father showing his kids how to place a condom on, that is what a real parent does. I would think you would wont your kids to learn and be taught by the parent first. Before see are learning out in the streets it’s called SAFE SEX for a reason. That’s what wrong with some of these parents today the are to afraid to talk to the children. This sisterhood church show is a shame, it in no way depicts what a church should be or portrayed as. These people treat church as a business. This show is heretical at best. This is a bad depiction of what the church is supposed to be. I clearly see that everything that calls its self a church ,a pastor and First Lady truly needs to be evaluated biblically. NONE of what I saw would pass the test if this was done based on what was shown. This show needs to be done with this episode. I can say more but this show makes me upset at the fact that they represent Christians on a major platform and failing to glorify the very one that they claim to represent.#ashamed

I haven’t seen it yet but I’m sure I’ll disagree with some of the things they do and I’m sure I’ll think some of them are “out there”. BUT, those of you on this post that are attacking them and calling them names (all while shouting “I’m a Christian”) may need to check yourself. We need to bring back the popular ‘What Would Jesus Do?’. IJS – watch the words that come out of your mouth against someone!!

As i watched this show my Spirit cringed…As a pasters wives you are concidered a first lady. What i seen in hs show wasa disgrace to the christians period. They should be praying for one another and having eachothers back. Not talking about one another and laughing at the other when a sister needs a little direction. Or better yet construtive criticisium as sister to sister.. Not to mention the hand cuffs should have been kept out.. And the sex talk with the girls was totally wrong on national TV.. This is the reason their are so many lost sheep now.. Lack of trust not bieng able to measure up, being talked about, gossiped about behind your back , and laughed at… Insted of being prayed for . or taken under a wing and encouraged and talked too, spent time with. I will not watch his show again in fact, I will be in prayer for their congrigations sakes. And TLC should be ashamed of this type of publicity…

As a person who lives in the greater Atlanta area, I am disappointed in how our city is portrayed with low class entertainment like Atlanta Housewives, Love and Hip Hop Atlanta, Honey Boo Boo and now The Sisterhood. There are some really hardworking people who live in this city who do not act like any of these people nor live like them. I think it is an inaccurate reflection of what Atlanta is all about, and needs to stop. Please cancel this foolishness!! This is a city that is trying to recover from a high unemployment rate and a severely damaged housing market. We are trying to raise our children with hope and dignity and this does nothing but make Atlanta look trashy and low class.

“Rev” Brian & Dominique Scott are fraud, I use to work for them at Fabric of America (state funded tutoring company). They got paid to tutor kids from “Needs Improvement” school (Clayton Co., Atlanta Public). It was a scam. They went around poor neighborhoods soliciting signatures & got about $1700/registration form. They were bussing kids to their learning center. It was just a big day care center, no tutoring took place. Yet they are preachers? You see they lost their church (doing fraud stuff in God’s name)

Most people posting comments cannot spell. I’m worried about these uneducated Christians. The show will be entertaining but some of these women have non-christian characteristics. I did enjoy the father talking to his daughters…alot of times Christians don’t talk about sex with their children then wonder why there are pregnant teenagers in church.

I saw this show for the first time this evening. I am embarrassed and do not want anyone to think this is typical behavior for pastors or First Ladies. Dominique Scott and Ivy Couch show themselves as judgmental and condescending. Dominique says Tara communication skills are poor yet she does not know what Tara means when she references a litmus test. I say to Christina and her husband – bail out now before it is too late.
I do agree with one concept of the show. Holiness does not negate fun, laughter and looking good. However, let us not forget godly integrity! I see little godly integrity in the show – at least in the one episode viewed tonight. Yes, we have problems, pains, fears, trials, heartaches and tribulations. We need others to share our hearts. Others that relate – sometimes only listening but sometimes we do need to hear a Word. Not that we don’t know them but just to be reminded!
Okay, change is needed and quickly! Please the show looks bad, is in very poor taste and it unfortunately makes one question the nature of the heart(s). I actually wondered if they were paid to behave this way because surely these are not leaders acting like this. What are church members saying?????
If the writers, producers need help please contact me. I pray this is not a true representation of young leaders. If it is – TROUBLE!!!

You dont know what goes on behind close doors and as far as the Pastor who showed his kids how to use a condom who should teach them Ray ray around the block that how we have so many teen pregnancy because of the incorrect usage. When I was a teen in the church I cant tell you how many girls had gotten pregnant, not saying that sex before marriage is okay in God’s eyes but people lets be real it is more that likely going to happen. to the dump ass who accused that father of molesting his children you are running out of things to say sit down and shut up you may learn something.

Assuming that these churches do exist, current members need to LEAVE immediately and connect with a real pastor and his wife-NOT FIRST LADY (whatever that is) so they will not be hindered by this RELIGIOUS MESS masquerading as a part of the Body of Christ. This trash is one of the reasons NON-BELIEVERS steer clear, but I want them to know that this doesn’t come close to representing the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. I watched the show and began to pray that lives will be changed and those who have some of the flaws in some of the wives will do a self-reflection. Although I am not a first lady, I have worked closely with one. And she is the realest lady I know. I like the show as it shows that pastors and their wives are real people and are not perfect.. Like the church likes to think they are. The scene that the Pastor showed his daughters how to put on condoms was not an embarassment, but a scene that many youth, pastors, and grown folk need to see. It shows that he isnt ignorant to the pressures that youth go through.. and yes he did say that he would love for his daughters to live save lives, but he isnt ignorant that they will be tempted to and even possibly have pre-marital sex. He is doing what others need to do.. I believe the church is in a taboo over sexuality and this is so fake.. because sexuality is a real issue and the church is often the main place the issue needs to be addressed. Come on people… be real.. Pornography and sexual predators are large issues in the church and until we admit it, we can and will continue to battle this issue. True deliverance comes with acknowledging there is a problem. This show represents what really goes on.. there is a lot of jealousy, bitterness, and ignorance in the church and in the lives of first ladies. Not all, but many struggle with these same issues. Being transparent may be the real way to win and get others truly delivered.

I feel that this show really shows that Pastors and their Wives have to deal with real issue as everyone else does. And just because God has called them to lead does not mean they are not human with real life situations/issues. That is a big mistake that people as a whole make when looking at leading families. When God call you to lead much is required. This show is showing how Christian Families really live and deal with issues in day to day life. These familes are very brave to get on TV and show how their life really is. Not sugar coated lives like alot of Christians do.

As a Pastors wife, we do go through many trials, and situations that are hurtful from the people in the church as well as dealing with our marriages, finances, children and etc.. and I believe it is necessary for women to have an outlet or a “sisterhood” if you will, to be real with and to listen as one vents. When you are a true believer, you can still be real and experience the feelings of a human being, but the bottom line is the Word! you cannot take the word out of life experiences and these sisters should be encouraging each other with the Word. I seen everything opposite of what we as believers should be doing, from backbiting, to judging. This is really troubling to see proclaimed women of God act in such a manner. We are to be salt of the earth, women with the attributes of Christ, wise as serpents and harmless as dove. My heart pounded from the time it came on until it went off hoping that it would not be a disgrace or discredit the Body of Christ and I was very shocked and amazed that it did. There is a line that should be drawn between whats holy and whats not, so it is evident to the non believer; where will be people run to in this last day if the women and men are doing the same as the world? The bible says come out from amongst them and be ye separate, we are not to act the way the world does even in keepin it real, that’s why it is important for the Word to become ones reality so that in times of distress then the realness of one’s reality reverts back to the Word and not fulfilling the lust of the flesh! God help us all to hide your word in our hearts not when its appropriate to act on it in front of people but even behind close doors! This show is not healthy and or wholesome…

I just watched this show at the behest (LOL Tara) of a friend, I’m glad I did. This show, to those who are open, will offer and enlightening view into the lives of Christian women who are charged with leading other Christian women in the way of the Lord.
My initial thought: It will do more harm than good to the Kingdom!
My Lasting Impression after episode 1: This show, if it is allowed to continue, will do more to show Christians what they look like to outsiders (not a pretty view), then it will actually bring anyone to Christ. The first episode has a pastor telling his congregation they can still “do their thang and be christian”…..WOW! While there is a lot of truth there, I think he should be more focused on telling them how doing there thang will keep them from the true essence of who God called them to be while also aiding and abetting the enemy in his effort to keep people AWAY from the kingdom of God. He also turned around and told his daughters he would take them to buy condoms…WOW again (his daughters are a riot, the one who wants to preach may keep me glued moreso than her father)!
I love Domonique, she will definitely have me watching this show if she is the only reason I can stomach it! Domonique is real and I want her to focus on a deliverance ministry. I think this show will help open doors for her as she opens up about her past. Dominique if you ever read this, look up Anneshia Freeman from Detroit, MI. That is a powerful woman of God who has been where you were and is now where you would like to be ministry wise. Stop looking to lead an entire church and go where God leads you, envy doesn’t look good on you…let it go!
Tara and her “jewish husband” are a walking contradiction. Double minded at its best. I’ve never seen jewish in a race or ethnicity section of any legal documents. Saying that you are “jewish and black” is like saying you are Christian and White….it makes no sense and only works to add confusion and separation ..STOP THE MADNESS PLEASE! Tara, honey leave the word of God some room to breathe. Ivy was trying to do you a favor, you don’t have to scripturalize every conversation, that’s a turn off that comes across as a way for shallow people to sound important. Sweetie even the devil knows the word. People don’t want to know how much scripture you know until they know how much of Jesus’s heart you have. He was more of the show me better than you can tell me type…..STUDY THAT! I saw the preview for the upcoming christian bar mitzvah…..again….double minded!
Ivy didn’t really catch my attention other than her correcting Tara, that may be a good thing….no wait!
Ivy, as a Christian leader you may want to tone down the sexual overtones. Some things should be kept private sweetie, there will definitely be church freaks after your husband now and you opened the door wide for that one.

WOW! Reading all of the comments from “Christians” made me cringe! You guys are so judgemental! People will find a way to find something wrong with everything.
When pastors and their wives appear to have everything together, they are considered unrelateable. When they are transparent, you refer to them as “trash” and “nasty”. What exactly is it that you are looking for? Let’s remember the power of video editing. A simple conversation can be edited 100 different ways.
I commend these ladies for willing to be transparent and dispell the myths that their lives are perfect. There were some things that I didn’t agree with, but who am I to judge? I also think the father talking to his daughters about sex is a representation of a real parent dealing with with real issues in the real world! The ones that feel that sex is taboo in a Christian household are usually the ones with the teens experimenting with sex based on what they heard from their peers and what they should have learned at home!
The responses here are prime examples of why people tend to shy away from Christ. Christ is a representation of conditional love acceptance. Let’s put more emphasis on relationships and not religion. That is what I believe this show is about. I will give it a fair chance. And for the record, the world can’t base their opinions of you because of who lives in your city, follows your God or looks like you, only how you portray yourself!

I liked the show…sort of, it was good entertainment but once again, showing Christians in a bad light. As for the dad showing his daughters how to use the condom…as a Christian, there is no need for that, the bible says no sex before marriage so for him to say…but I know what the reality is, uh no, the reality is that there is no sex before marriage, PERIOD!!!! He should be teaching nothing more in his house. And sharing his personal business like that, he shouldn’t have done that but especially to his daughters, there are things you just don’t need to share. I’m afraid people will watch this show and be like, hey, it’s easy to be a Christian I can do that and NO, that was not an example of Christian behavior. The women gossiping about one another, the sexual overtones, yes preachers have sex too but it is not classy to talk about it, what goes on behind your bedroom doors should stay there. Christ has unconditional love for all of us but there is a way to present yourselves. My motto is, if Jesus was sitting right beside you in person and you wouldn’t do or say it…then it doesn’t need to be said or done. I know He is everywhere and see’s everything but I’m just saying, we’d be a little more aware if He were right there with us in person. I will give it another chance, perhaps the first show was for ratings or to get us hooked, I’m just hoping they will use this show to minister and not for the sole purpose of entertainment. This is garbage and I am suuuuper disappointed in the women and the pastors that are in this show. They should be showing people the power of God in their lives and how He transforms. Instead they are battling with each other, wearing short skirts and dresses. This is a disgrace and will turn even more people away from the church. the only one who is trying to stay true to what it is about is the one everybody think is crazy and that’s tara. Atleast she’s speaking scripture and acknowledging God and her purpose to reach people way more than the other ladies. No pastor needs to be showing their kids how to use a condom, especially on national television. He should be talking to them about abstinence, how True Love Waits. the fact that he experienced stds should be ever more reason not to go there with his children. The message shouldve been abstinence.
It’s not about comments being judmental.we have the authority to call out those things that are not of God and do not represent God, no matter who it is. At the end of the day it’s all about what is the good and acceptable and perfect will of God. nobody is perfect, that’s a known fact but we are to strive and walk worthy of who we are- that’s scripture all day long. children of God should not behave any less than who we are. The Bible says old things are passed away, behold all things have become new. I dont need to see their old man when i watch this show. i dont need to see a pastor giving permission to have sex through showing how to put on a condom, i don’t need to see a pastor giving his wife some handcuffs for sex. yes marriage is honorable and the bed is undefiled, but no one needs to know whats going on in your bedroom, especially a pastor’s bedroom!
And yes we all have shortcomings but everybody dont need to know everything about everything. that’s one of the reasons God gives us grace to cover the foolish things we did when we didnt know any better. so lets do better and represent for God.
I could keep going and going but instead i’m gonna pray and i encourage everybody that watches the show, comment on the show, dislikes the show to pray. Prayer changes things!

I know those so-called “Pastors” Brian and Dominique Scott. They are FRAUDS. I am not surprised they lost their “Church”. The way they lied and manipulated, it eventually catches up with you. That Dominique is nothing but a GHETTO GIRL who looks down on people and claims she knows the WORD. She is very nasty to people and, that is one of the reasons that “CHURCH” never prospered. She gossips and goes around bad-mouthing people and at the same time leads a church. This show she is on is also FAKE. She was EVICTED from her RENTED townhouse so the house she is in is not even hers “compliments of TLC”. She moves that boutique form one part on Atlanta to the next because no one goes there and skips out on the rent. Keep an eye on this girl, she has as much business up there in the pulpit as those CRACKHEADS she use to hang out with.

Keeping it Real? Gossip,Greediness, and Haughtiness. Is that suppose to be a Christian’s personality? A Christian is a believer in Jesus Christ and his teachings. Out of all my years of reading the scriptures i have yet to read of Christ behaving this way. On the other hand i have read several accounts were Satan has acted like a plum fool. I also don’t think God will tolerate this “for profit” mess in his kingdom. When we are apart of his kingdom I wonder if we will have to pay to hear sermons? Or wait, he is going to have us build up several MEGA churches and none of his people are united. The focus is clearly in the wrong place and its obvious by watching this TV show.

I just wish I could have seen the difference between the women of God and the regular housewife shows. It was the same drama, the same gossip, the same arguing. I did not see how this show depicting “Christian” women was any different from the other reality shows. I would like to see these families resolve their issues with integrity. I would like to see how they balance family & ministry. I would like to see how they handle difficult situations within the ministry. To say that we haven’t been married long enough if the cops have not been called to our homes is not a good example of healthy Christian marriage. All couples don’t have that level of drama. Yes Christians have problems too but the difference is supposed to be our hope in Christ Jesus. I would like to see that difference portrayed in the show otherwise its just another reality show….

I believe a pastor/father should encourage/insist that his children remain virgins until marriage, no matter what is going on in the world. I believe it’s a parent’s job to talk about sex with their kids, even to the point of using fruit to be direct and real just so they know about sex in general. Still, God’s will should be the order because He ordained sex for a man and woman who are married to each other. Too many parents get lazy and just push their kids to condoms and pills without giving them any knowledge or setting Godly standards and expecatations in their home. No doubt, I will give the show a chance. Even though these women are from nontraditional churches and are very young, they are still growing in their roles as a first lady. If the show doesn’t lead anyone to God/the church, hopefully, these women will see some not so Godly habits in themselves that will cause them to make some personal changes about themselves so that they go back to their prospective church homes and really change lives. I believe the purpose for the show is to let Christians know that we are all humans who are flawed, no matter our titles. So as more episodes come, we will just have to pray that if God has allowed this show to air, that He has a purpose for someone and in the end, He will get His glory.

To the Christians:
Whether you want to face it or not, this show is an ACCURATE depiction of what the church has become. Deal with it. Wake up and realize that everybody that has the title of “pastor” or “first lady” is not a super holy person with extra special powers that makes them a perfect. They are not super-heroes. They are just as jacked up as the rest of us. I know you think your pastor can do no wrong, but that is naive. Some of yall are so busy serving your pastors, that you forgot to serve God. Then you fall out on the floor when you find out that they’re not perfect….or even better, you go into denial.
Secondly, kudos to the pastor that showed his daughters how to use a condom. Read a little bit. Teens who are taught nothing but abstinence are more likely than teens who are taught about safe-sex to acquire STDs and become pregnant before the age of 21. Not making that up. So if you want to live in a little fantasy village where teaching kids nothing but abstinence works, go ahead. Ruin the lives of another generation. Teens have the highest rates of STDs across all age groups and you all are more concerned with “The Word” than saving them from HIV. You taught them abstinence. Great. But how often do teens disobey their parents??? I’ll wait. HIV kills. People die. Let that religiosity go and use some wisdom.

I am a honest to goodness pastors wife. Have been for over 30 years. I know NO ONE like this in all my years of being a pw!! I am not sure where you found these women, but they are NOT true to life pw’s that is for sure. Most of us are working women, nurses, teachers, etc., for the most part, as well as full time (hard working) mothers!! We live on low salaries, and constantly struggle with being a wife and mother, helping our husbands, raising our kids, and trying to please God rather then the countless people in our congregations that think they know what we should or should not be doing….This show made me SICK when I saw the few parts of it I did see. These women are self serving, gossipy, and have no business in this show. TLC has sunk to a new low for sure…..you had to try to destroy the Amish, and now you go after those in ministry…..SHAME on you.

I just saw the episode of “Sisterhood”…….Really? I mean R.E.A.L.L.Y.??????? Is this what is really going on with the wives of Pastors? Is this what makes or breaks a Pastor’s wife. You want a free production, where the Pastor and his wife hold the money bags? You want the Pastor’s wife to be his partner in the church like it’s an organization and not the organism of Christ? You want us pumped up, weaved up, dressed up to the point that we can’t reach the common community? You want us sizing each other up, like we got it all together? I watched a portion of the show last night and was very disappointed and offended. True Christians and men and women of God do not act like that in public, let alone on a reality show. To me, they were unstable and the show was just plain blastphemic. Shame on TLC for such a disgrace in programing. My family will NOT be watching this show again and should TLC continue using such bad decisions on their programming, we will discontinue watching anything on their network. What would you like to see? The pretends lives? I found this show interesting….it does not make me turn away from the church but makes me want to embrace it more. We need to accept these people are human and have real problems just like we do..they just do not have the luxury as “we” do to vent to our girlfriends for fear or ridicule. I for one have never put my pastor or wife on a pedestal! I put GOD on the pedestal.
Also, it was a good idea that the pastor gave his daughters the condom talk. He is not saying have sex my daughters; but should you please protect yourself. I only wish my father had and I would not have became pregnant prior to college. My parents never gave me a sex talk; needless to say when my child became old enough that is the first thing that I did. Kudos, Pastor

given reality shows and the substance of reality shows, i don’t think the women acted in poor taste. they have to sell the show and let’s face it, drama or the act of drama to come is what will sell the show. as for them acting outside of what is considered “first lady” material. i have no idea how a first lady is suppose to act so i can’t judge. but it seems that now days, having a church and/or forming one seems to be the next big thing and being a first lady is like a status symbol. what about teaching people about God, and not worrying about how many amenities in the church. the one wife said their goal was to become a megachurch. ok, instead of being a ministry where you know your members, you become one where everyone is number or a face in the crowd. and once again, some people will join to say they belong to this or that and not for the reason that it is intended for which is to come together and learn about God and get guidance in a spiritual journey.
although the one i couldn’t get with is tara, i just can’t get with someone who has to have a scripture or mention something biblical in every sentence they speak. if you know God, then people will see it , you don’t have to constantly talk about it. everybody you meet isn’t a soul to evangelize to. the scene with her, dominique and ivy , i think dominique just wanted to see tara and not the evangelist or the one quoting scripture because let’s face, all of us don’t walk around quoting bible verses just because someone asks us how we’re doing. i think the show will do what it is intended to do which is provide entertainment. these are women and humans beings, they are not perfect nor should be placed on a pedestal.

First of all I don’t care for the and refuse to use the title “First Lady” for a pastor’s wife. Secondly, this show is too far-fetched. I admittedly watched the show out of curiosity. If this show MUST be done, try find some established, wise real pastor’s wives, and I say try because no real pastor’s wife would do this; they have too much decorum and love of God to embarrass themselves and their husbands. It’s nothing but a “Real Housewives” gone wild, which I only watched once and I’m pretty sure I’ve watched my only episode of this mess of a show called “Sisterhood” as well. And to say that the pastor teaching his children how to out a condom on is ok because it helps to prevent pregnancy is absurd! As a Christian, we should know that the sin is not in birthing a child. It is in the actual act of sex before marriage! The church is ti be the example of how to live Godly life without conforming to ungodly ways! And as a Christian to another Christian, we are supposed to judge and correct those who do not line up with His word! When we know better, we are to do better! I’m praying for this nation as a whole and for the real church to stand up! And to the real Christians out there, we already know that the real church is on the inside of us. If we all would understand this, then we all would see that it is not a building we go to just on Sundays and occasional Wednesdays. We are not given permission to act any way we choose outside of the building as long as it’s not in the building but know that God is with you always. I wasn’t impressed I hope the show gets better and just doesn’t show gossiping, negative tag-teaming, and sexual preferences but rather shows some substance and discretion. I waited to see the show thinking it would show the balanced Christan woman who isn’t perfect yet has a relationship with Christ in the evidence of in their actions. I do not believe God is pleased with this show. I hope it gets better.

I grew up in the church and everything I saw in this show and these BEYOND judgmental, hateful and rude comments reaffirms why I have nothing to do with any religion. All these women scream fake and troublemakers. Christina let me know immediately they were all about the money when she mentioned she hopes they become a mega church.
The black church was pivotal in the Civil Rights movement and was a place where African Americans could be safe. Now you have folks preaching the “prosperity doctrine” which there is NO such thing in the bible. Folks really need to READ the bible for themselves with thorough understanding and not the rosy stuff that these preachers today are spitting.
