TV best bets with returns of ‘Downton Abbey,’ ‘The Biggest Loser,’ ‘Mob Wives’

downton abbey season 3PBS’s biggest hit in many years (thanks to those Brits) is “Downton Abbey,” which returns to GPB Sunday for a third season.

Watch for spoilers online because the show debuted in Britain more than three months ago.

NBC’s “The Biggest Loser” is back the same night after taking the fall off and is bringing in kids for the first time. And Jillian Michaels returns after a break. Atlanta’s Dolvett Quince is back for a third cycle.

And those nutty “Mob Wives” return Sunday on VH1 for a third round. (The spinoff out of Chicago died after one cycle)

Three Atlanta-based reality shows also arrive on Tuesday: Kennesaw’s “Double Divas” on Lifetime, “Totally T-Boz” on TLC and “The Sisterhood” right afterwards on the same network.


“New Year’s Rockin’ Eve Celebrates Dick Clark” 8 p.m. ABC — Jenny McCarthy and Fergie host a celebration of the late great Dick Clark, who turned New Year’s into a big TV event four decades ago. Later, Ryan Seacrest hosts with live performances by Taylor Swift, Psy and Justin Bieber.

“NBC’s New Year’s Eve With Carson Daly” 8 p.m. ABC — Train and the coaches of “The Voice” show up.

“New Year’s Eve Live” 10 p.m. CNN — Kathy Griffin joins Anderson Cooper in Times Square.

“New Year’s Eve Live!” 11 p.m. Fox — “Idol” winner Phillip Phillips and Lifehouse perform.

“All American New Year” 11 p.m. Fox News — Pat Benatar and Sarah Brightman perform. Bill Hemmer and Megyn Kelly host.

“MTV’s Club NYE 2013” 11 p .m. MTV — Ke$ha and Sean Kingston perform. Snooki and Jwoww pop up, too.


“Dance Moms” 8 p.m. Lifetime — A preview of the third season include favorite routines performed by the dancers.

“Totally T-Boz” 8 p.m. TLC (new series) — TLC’s T-Boz gets a four-episode test run about her life.

“The Sisterhood” 9 p.m. TLC (new series) — Five metro Atlantans reveal life as preachers’ wives.

“Hardcore Pawn: Chicago” 9:30 p.m. TruTV (new series) — A spin-off featuring another pawn shop in Chicago.

“Chopped” 10 p.m. Food (13th season finale) — A competing chef attempts to recover after dropping the entree ingredient of pork belly on the floor.

“Parenthood” 10 p.m. NBC — Jasmine and Crosy take in a familiy member.

“Storage Wars: New York” 10 p.m. A&E (new series) — A second spinoff of the original after the Texas and California versions.

“Double Divas” 10”30 p.m. Lifetime (new series)— The two women who run Kennesaw’s bra-fitting lingerie shop LiviRae.


“Mobbed” 8 p.m. Fox — A woman honors her father, who made a living as a firefighter.

“Guys With Kids” 8:30 p.m. NBC — The guys wax nostalgic about the past.

“Law & Order: SVU” 9 p.m. NBC — Fin’s former brother-in-law gets arrested for assaulting a priest prior to Christmas.

“Toddlers & Tiaras” 9 p.m. TLC Profiling contestants at an international Fresh Faces pageant in Kentucky.

“American Horror Story” 10 p.m. FX — Monsignor Howard confronts the Devil.

“Chicago Fire” 10 p.m. NBC — Cruz is overcome with guilt over Flaco’s death and turns to Casey.
