It came down to the 1980s-style rocker dude and the pretty pop singer.

And pop won. Cassadee Pope,23, of Team Blake Shelton had been selling more downloads than the other singers all through the weeks. She was the favorite and the favorite won. She is the first female to win “The Voice.”

Pope had a crystal clear power voice and a sweet persona. Her cover of Faith Hill’s “Cry” was No. 1 on iTunes earlier today.

Of course, the past two winners of “The Voice” have not had much success. In fact, not a single “Voice” single has had a genuine radio hit to date. Pope certainly has a shot over her retro competitors Nicholas David and Terry McDermott.

And just like that, “The Voice” will be back in a couple months but Cee Lo Green will be replaced by fellow Atlantan Usher and Christina Aguilera will tour while Shakira takes over.

The show basically crushed “The X Factor” in ratings and lifted NBC to No. 1 in ratings with 32 telecasts and more than 60 hours of programming.

Question: will two cycles quickly burn the show off or will it survive just fine like “Survivor” or “Dancing With the Stars,” which have sustained themselves airing twice a year (though there are rumors DWTS may go only once a year after a disappointing “All Stars” edition.)

I had a feeling a new thread was up.

Terry started off very nervous, but he sounds good. Broken Wings is another one of my favorites.

What is the problem with their first verses showcasing their nerves?? First Terry, now Cassadee. I want Cassadee to win, but she’s not doing anything with this song. NADA!

Those lyrics for her song were repetitive… not the most creative… Yeah, Diamonds – I got it… move on.

And people pay for her music? *SMH*

Hey Pitchy. Sorry. I have not been watching “The Voice” live. I’m currently setting our house up to put for sale so it’s been more or less background noise for me…

I just finished watching the voice. Cassadie knew she was the winner because she ak
Lready had her microphone and started signing. When she signs it sounds like she is screaming. Terry was the winner in my eyes

Well the best of the last 3 won. I had to record the final due to some last minute shopping but all in all it was a good show. I like Cassadee and she has a chance to do well. I think she would be better served singing country music. Sorry I missed the live posting Pitchy and Squishy. Sad to say if I can’t prebowl tomorrow I will have to record XF. Oh woe is me!

I was gone most of the evening, but I am happy to see a girl win the show – at least that breaks the pattern of the initial 2 seasons.

Since the winner gets a recording contract this year, it will be interesting to see if she can parlay that into a real prescense in the business. The contract may be stated a number of ways – and doesn’t mean they will produce, market and distribute to stations beyond a certain number of songs, or to a certain dollar amount. She needs at least a semi-hit soon, or as common in the business -. – the label will pull-out.

All of the top ten were capable of winning. Hundreds of thousands Americans can sing with near perfect pitch and have the ability to be coached to perform. I was looking for a winner that had lots of personality and originality, Cassadee was not my pic, but congratulations. I hope she finds her Nitch
and personal touch to make a statement all her own in the music world.

I’m still PO’d because Melanie Martinez did not win. She had a Jewel-type quality voice, a unique personality, and very mature for a 17 yr. old. I actually became obsessed with her as many of her fan club did, yet I’m too old for her. I predict she is the one we will hear from in the near future.

Morning!

I thought Cassadee was the best of the final 3 and also the most marketable. Now, as Rodney said, let’s see if she can get a hit single recorded and released.

Rodney, I think your bias is showing. X-Factor’s winner hasn’t burned up the charts either. And no Idol winner had a hit single for a while until Phillip Phillips’s “Home.”

Hey, G, be happy. No WGWG won!!!

Morning!

Selling your house, Rodney? Good luck. In our neighborhood, some get snatched up right away and others(just as nice) languish on the market for over a year. I hope you fit in the first category.

Not a fan or hater of Pope. I don’t agree with Roho’s assessment of her being a “power singer”, but she’s experienced. I prefered one of the other two guys, but it’s all good. It’s good the show has a female winner, and you’re starting to get a bit of variety in your winners. I thought the female from last year should have won, she’s much better than Pope imo.

Pope should do well. She has the typical look and sound of a successful pop singer. She can get away with sneaking in a few country pop tunes too. She’s a very pretty girl with a nice body, so her videos will get airtime and her album sales should be decent.

I wish Kelly had been left to sing her song alone, since it was the only one alloted her. Sounded ok with the two contestants singing, but they can’t hold a candle to Kelly ’s voice. I’d have picked the Scot to win. The girl is ok, but her voice is a little high and nasaly for my taste. She’s cute – looks a bit like Ashley Greene.

JT: Guess you’re having a White Pre-Christmas this week. Stay safe – saw a couple off cars turned over in the Portland area.

I stopped watching when the young man from Lithonia, GA was voted off. He was the best singer. The female can not sing at all! She was ALWAYS off key and VERY pitchy. Very irritating to listen to. I’d rather hear a teachers’ fingernails scratch a chalk board! Or a screeching cat when something or someone scares it instead of her singing high pitch and off key. She was tone deaf! Horrible singer!

Hi Pitchy! Don’t forget (and remind your daughter) that “Pretty Little Liars” starts back in a couple weeks – I think maybe the first or at least 2nd week of Jan.

I liked Terry better than the girl – but rarely do my choices win. Last time on Idol was a rare exception.

@Pitchy, you won’t have to wait long since The Voice will be back in about 5-6 month. They won’t have XTina or CeeLo next go around. That’s the one thing I dislike about the show. Although with two new mentors it could be interesting. XF will be finished this week and Idol is around the corner.

Honestly I can’t wait to see the Nicki show…I mean Idol. If nothing else it could be entertaining.

Highlander you are wrong about no one having a hit single til Phillip Phillips. Scotty had big success with a couple of his singles. Maybe you just didn’t listen to country music radio stations.

I was disappointed in the pop princess winning, has nothing to do with it being the first female to win or not. Nicholas and Terry are both so talented. Nicholas was my fav, a little off beat, different, so easy to listen to. Tired of these shows that showcase singers, but in the end, the main stream, neutral talent always wins. Voters are a bunch of sheep, where is a venue for REAL talent to be showcased? Anyone of the women who didn’t make it to the finals, sounded so similar to Cassadee. Won’t be watching show again..

The Voice starts back March 25th with Usher and Shakira taking the place of Christina and CeeLo. I have to admit the promo with Blake, Adam. Shakira and Usher riding in the old truck singing Total Eclipse of the Heart is funny!
