Rihanna back on top of Atlanta radio with ‘Diamonds’

DiamondsSince I started tracking Atlanta radio airplay regularly three years, one artist has spend more time at the top than any other: Rihanna.

“Rude Boy,” “Where Have You Been,” “S&M” and “What’s My Name?” have all landed on the top since 2010. Her fifth chart topper is now “Diamonds.”

The song was spun 384 times: 32 on Hot 107.9, 38 on V-103, 141 times on Power 96.1, 121 times on Wild 105.7/96.7 and 52 times on Q100. Neither B98.5 and Star 94 have added the song just yet.

It has been on top for two weeks after a month-long stint for Maroon 5’s “One More Night.” Flo Rida is the fastest riser with “I Cry,” which inexplicably uses a sampling of Brenda Russell’s “Piano in the Dark.” Other fast risers include Nicki Minaj’s “Va Va Voom” and Phillip Phillips‘ “Home.”

wow – the playlists are so similar, further illustrating how freaking awful Atlanta radio really is. The oldies stations play the same crap all the time too. Rodney, I am surprised you didn’t do a post on Bert admitting his drinking problems. Not that you don’t do enough (!), rather, only because you always stay on top of what is going on on that show.

Anyone who would listen to this “garbage mouth” with no principles or morals at all, should seriously call a psychiatrist for an appointment.
