V-103’s Frank Ski over the years has drawn a fair share of celebrities to his annual Frank Ski Kids Foundation charity wine auction over the past decade, including Jesse Jackson, Dr. Julius Erving, all the recent Atlanta mayors, Chris Tucker and Ne-Yo.

On Sunday night at his Frank Ski restaurant in Buckhead, he brought in one of the biggest A listers of them all: R&B legend Stevie Wonder.

Before a certainly overjoyed crowd, Wonder sang a stripped down version of “The Christmas Song” with a piano specially brought into the restaurant and even name-dropped Ski’s name into the classic Christmas tune. He also played a harmonica, put his fingerprint on it and had it auctioned off for Ski’s foundation.

Among others who attended was Mayor Kasim Reed, actor Boris Kodjoe, hip-hop artist Young Jeezy and Def Jam CEO Kevin Liles.

In year’s past, Ski has raised more than $100,000 for his charity at the event, which takes deserving area kids to places around the world. This year, he took a group to the Galapagos Islands. He also hosts an annual “Youth Bowl’ football game and hands out scholarships to university-bound students. (He used to host it at his home but has moved it to his restaurant the past two years.)

This year’s auction included a trip to Napa Valley, a French bulldog and walk-on roles on movies and TV shows.

I normally attend this event but spent Sunday cleaning out my basement to prepare my home for sale. It sounded like a good time had by all.

Ski hasn’t talked to me since my story about his contract a few weeks back.  I get the impression he wasn’t too pleased with it or the way people reacted to it. One source just told me he has no contract yet, which may also be why he’s so quiet. He has been with the station going back to 1998 as part of the longest-running locally-based music morning team at the same station in town. And his show still pulls in the biggest ratings of any show.

Does it matter who he’s surrounding himself with? The gala is for a worthy cause, which is trying to raise green not racism, or color issues.

Clearly it does not matter that the reason for the people in the photo is for the kid’s Foundation and Charity!!! Some people will always see Color before Cause… sad!

You’re a joke for even making the comment in the first place. What an ignorant thing to say.

I am bothered that a DOG was auctioned. I have a problem with that, and don’t feel it is appropriate to auction off a living being.

Dr Julius Erving? Is he related to Dr J. Neither one is an MD genius.

I think your childlike antics are so cute. Does anyone have anything else to do? Don’t allow yourself to easily be drawn into mess. Yes, it is about color; it is always about color and gender.
