John Kincade, staying at 680/The Fan, leaves ESPN. Is he CBS Sports Talk bound?

John KincadeJohn Kincade has been hosting a Sunday morning show on ESPN Radio for many years. He was not on yesterday.

Rumors floating around the Web are that he’s considering a new gig at CBS Sports Talk Radio, possibly to do a weekend show there.

This is on top of his local gig at 680/the Fan, where he’s heard weekdays with Buck Belue from noon to 3 p.m.

David Dickey, who is Kincade’s boss at the Fan, declined to comment. Ditto with Kincade’s agent Norm Shrutt.

It would make some sense for Kincade to move given the Fan’s new affiliation with CBS Sports Talk and ESPN’s move to 790/The Zone.

Kincade has been on air in Atlanta for 17 years, which includes 15 years at 680/The Fan in two stints and three years at the Zone from 1997 to 2000.

…there was a blowhard on Atlanta radio that did not belong there it is this guy – a pompass
Philly arse, he should take his strut to Philly and stay there – as Lewis Grizzard used to say “Delta is ready when he is” – and I know I am ready to have him off the Atlanta airwaves…

But, he will take this as a compliment, since anybody talking about him is good pub…

What about Chuck Oliver? When are you going to report on his attack on Mark Richt & 680 being affiliated with UGA? How can he not be fired for this? Is there behind the scene things going on? ETC.

I stopped listening to Kincade after he kept making excuse after excuse for the incompetent management and ownership of the Thrashers–and then had the absolute nerve to blame the fans for the pathetic product being shoveled down our throats as they tucked tail and left. He should have been fired for his part of the fraud which went on for years.

I have encouraged many to stop–and refuse to listen to a station who employs such buffoons as he, Buck, Leo, and Perry.

I believe 680 is the station in trouble–as I rotate between 790 and 92.9. I’ll give The Game credit for one thing that the other two long-time stations have completely forgotten: they actually encourage callers and this is why I listen. I don’t want to listen to the boring Wes or Hans drone on and on for what seems like hours….Sadly, it’s either zero callers or they actually think I should feel thankful to listen to them and their opinions?

I don’t know which is more laughable?! Keep tweaking the lineup, 92.9, your competition is pretty weak here.

What a concept–a talk station which actually gets people to call in with their opinions!

Yikes–I kept getting the screen-of-delay; much apologies for that!

I wanted the good people of this city to know of the fraud in our midst in the form of John Kincade.

I refuse to subsidize such incompetence. I have made the switch away from 680–and I haven’t missed it a bit.

Hey ESPN weekend radio… holla at your boy Stew to fill that weekend spot! Man I got so much material stored up and ready to go!! Barber shops, barber shops, talk about me playing golf, more barber shops…. but don’t worry, I’ll talk sports too… I mean, once I get on the air, I’ll pull up ESPN or something and see some scores.

Kincade is okay. As for Chuck, he did a mea culpa on the show this afternoon.
As for 92.9, get rid of Carl and the news anchors.

Why would CBS launch a channel in a top ten market and not have anyone good enough to do national work that they have to go across town to a competitor?

One thing is pretty apparent, there are three sports stations and one guy national working in this market. I split 680 and 790 about 50-50. Can’t do the new station.

Who really cares….except for the unemployed people that sit around all day and call each sports station. Some of the guys that call can barely be understood. Of course if you happen to have a different point than any of the hosts then they blast you and cut you off. Not really worth listening to for several years now.

I am so confused. Why does ATL need 3 sports talk radio stations? I thought the new station was CBS? If the new station is CBS, Kincade is going to be on that station or 680? This all makes little sense to me. ESPN is on 790 which kills me as you lose it right past 285 going up 75. You can’t keep track of this stuff.

I think it is hilarious to read all these posts about people complaining about the “local” sports talk stations actually being homers. You do realize not every media market is like NY or LA and talks all sports right? We have two major college teams, a MLB, NFL, and NBA franchise; home to other events such as the Masters, a Nascar race, SEC Championship, NCAA regionals and Final Four, Chick Fil A Bowl and Kickoff events. There is nothing wrong with constantly talking about those teams/events with a little bit of national stuff put in. Get.Over.It!

When are we all going to try and live in harmony and have fun together?? Why eff is there always Hate and Negativity??? When are people going to get over themselves and appreciate the entertainment value that each and everyone of the sports talk guys have to offer!!! People Grow the Eff up and pick who you like to listen to and run with it!! What are we like 12?? Really It’s said to read some of these comments!!! You don’t like the guy change the channel!! Nick Cellini is bad his impressions are terrible.John Kinkaid s act flip flops more than Mitt Romney,Luv 92.9 the game .offers fans more air time to voice opinions. Please dont Hire Ryan Stewart or his trusty side kick Also terrible.I hate to hear about Tech,Barbecue,Moms Cooking,Detroit Lions Wayne Fontes all in one sentence. The 680 morning show forced me to pull over to side of the highway as i almost feel asleep on my way to work.Wow didnt want the airbags to deploy.680:bad very bad.
790 the zone is on their way out ,as they cant compete.

At least 680 does not have barking hoods on the program. It is boring when fans call in about the same subject. One year it was call after call-”I want to talk about the braves. I think they need a new manager.” next caller same verse. the show needs to have a different topic every day and stay on it. You can only talk about the braves needing a new manager for so long. Daily topics such as is Pelosi in bed with Reed make good stories. Or how many points will obama score on the basketball court while he is on his entitlement vacation at taxpayer expense.

I just wish they’d buy Buck Belue some head phones. Clearly he can’t hear Kincade talking because Belue speaks as if he were the only one there. I liken Kincade to Ginger Rogers. She did everything Fred Astaire, but she did it dancing backwards.

790 morning show is the best. Buck and Kincaid , Chernoff and the barn guy ok. Not impressed with the game. I love to here Tony when he is on 790. But I”m in the age demographic that does not matter anyway. Boy remember when Skip had a call in show? And remember Larry? I do think Jerome J would be good paired with the right person. The former falcon & fla. st guy gets on my nerves.

My main issue with JK is his disdain for Southerners. He continues to make fun of the way they talk and live. He thinks most fans are mindless idiots. It’s definitely a northeast snobs view of the south.

BTW, I’M originally from Boston, but unlike Kincade, I like it here, I consider Atlanta my home and myself a southerner.

That is the only station I’ve ever been cut of off. It was way back when Vick was the Falcon Q. I waited almost an hour to say, after all the savior crap they heaped on Vick, when his wheels wore out and he had to rely on his head he would be done. They cut me off and called me fool, a chook, an idiot about talent. They even said I didn’t know anything about football. So much for all their praise. Looks like I’m right again. :-)
