‘Real Housewives of Atlanta’ recap, season 5, episode 5: Farewell to Kim

Loading ...Kim is gone! Kim is gone!
Don’t know how many people will actually miss her at this point, but her departure (however contrived) felt apropos, with Kim stomping out of a meal with all the ladies.
Conveniently, the executives gathered all the cast members in the same room for the first time this season – including Kim.
They are planning a group trip this season to Anguilla. Kim missed the South Africa trip last year for K.J., her first baby with Kroy. This time around, she says she hopes to go, then quickly backtracks, saying she’s going to be too far along in her pregnancy. Everyone had accommodated their schedules for Kim and now she’s backing out. The ladies are a wee bit upset. Deep down, they are wondering if she’s really committed to the TV show she’s getting paid big bucks to do. (Not that they said that but you know that’s the underpinning.)
Indeed, for the past season plus, 90% of Kim’s scenes are in her house. She hardly ever sees the other women and even when she shows up to their parties, she wants to leave immediately. “My priorities have changed,” Kim explains.
Kandi gets annoyed when she finds out Kim is actually going to Lake Oconee instead. Kim says it’s about traveling overseas vs. staying local. Then she says “I never confirmed those dates” for Anguilla.
Once NeNe gets on Kim’s case about it all (”You make excuses all the time,” NeNe says, the steam starting to come off her blonde head), Kim gets up and leaves.
“All these b*** are f*** crazy,” Kim says.
She takes off her mic and shoos the cameras away. She’s fed up.
Many questions: who wants out more? Is this all an act? She still has relations with Bravo, which is giving her a second spinoff. Maybe they rigged it all to create more drama.
There’s no doubt in my mind the other women were all sick of Kim’s lackadaisical, candy-arsed attitude toward the show and them. She clearly stayed on the show this season for the paycheck, nothing more. The other resentful ladies ganged up on her and she ran away. That’s courage, Kim!
Next week, we see the Kim’s husband Kroy getting upset with the Bravo cameras, too.
NeNe and Kim, off camera on Twitter, have gotten into a feud over how Kim left the show. Kim, whose father recently called “a pathological liar,” claims she left mid-season voluntarily. NeNe says she was fired.
“It’s so funny how this chick wants people 2 think she quit the show!” NeNe tweeted. “The producers no longer wanted 2 work wit u! Good bye wit the lies.”
“U had an existing deal that the honored! Girl bye! Keep it 100,” she added. “Yea let’s get it! The brown girls won’t stand 4 the lies”
Kim responded: “I definitely was NOT fired from RHOA I can guarantee u that!!! My spinoff last year was a 1 time thing so this spinoff is brand new! Bye hater!!!!”
Yes, Kim will be back on another spinoff so she will remain with the Bravo family.
In other storylines:
- Kenya Moore, the queen of inauthenticity, spends an uncomfortable portion of a “double date” salivating over Phaedra Parks’ husband Apollo.
“Look at you looking all buff. You look like a supermodel with the shades on,” Kenya coos at Apollo right in front of Kenya’s boyfriend Walter and Phaedra, who creates that scrunched-up “What the…?” face of hers.
“He is a very attractive man,” she notes to the cameras. “Apollo. He’s kind of fine. [Giggle, giggle.]”
“I think Kenya likes to be the center of attention but she needs to pump her brakes because she is breaking some cardinal rules,” Phaedra notes, appropriately.
Apollo and Phaedra are doing a “booty” video together and want Kenya to potentially work the video given her producing skills. (Sounds like a bad idea, Phaedra. Run away!)
Then they race go karts. Kenya acts like a 13 year old and chases Apollo in the kart while Phaedra lags behind.
- Cynthia Bailey and her husband Peter are in a good place in their marriage. Cynthia talks about going to Anguilla. They broach inviting Kim and her husband Kroy. NeNe is not thrilled by the prospect, as noted earlier. Peter tells NeNe and Gregg while Cynthia is out of earshot that he is trying to surprise Cynthia for a surprise vow renewal on the beach.
- Porsha Stewart had a miscarriage six months earlier because of fibroids. She is checking with her doctor about whether she can have babies. She wants two boys and two girls, preferably twins so she doesn’t have to have five pregnancies (including said miscarriage.). She finds out she’s one more month from full health down there. “How do I higher my chances of having twins?” she asks the doctor, using the word “higher” for the correct word “improve.” “Let’s look at having one baby first,” the doctor noted. Porsha later meets with Cynthia and Nene and they dish about what a beeyotch Kenya is.
- Kandi Burruss meets with Cynthia at the Daiquiri Factory to talk about the trip to Anguilla. “The perfect getaway and we need to make it a couples trip,” Cynthia says. But Kandi’s boyfriend Todd is working on a TV show so she’s not sure he can join, much less want to join them given the drama they (are paid to) create.Later, Kandi meets with Phaedra at Boxwoods gift shop to talk about sex toys including kegel exercise balls, which apparently strengthen the vaginal muscles. They also talk about the Anguilla trip. “I hope Kim does not cancel on us,” Kandi says. Ahem.
- Phaedra meets with Cynthia to apologize for saying she didn’t give an f*** that Phaedra would come or not to Ayden’s party on an accidental butt call that NeNe got. Phaedra explained that she didn’t care who showed up since it was Ayden’s party, not hers, and she wouldn’t be offended if folks failed to show. Cynthia accepts the apology. “It’s not as if I didn’t say anything about Phaedra. I just haven’t gotten caught with them yet,” Cynthia notes. “I forgive but I won’t forget.”

“She probably has an extra pillow in there to make it look bigger, anything for more drama.” – NeNe, on Kim as she walked in pregnant.

“Real Housewives of Atlanta’ ratings are down from season 4 at this stage, averaging 2.6 million viewers over four episodes vs. 3 million a year ago. One bad sign: ratings have fallen four weeks in a row. That didn’t happen a year ago.

The new lady who is the beauty queen is quite caustic. At least when some of the characters , had moments , we saw their human side. I see nothing in that lady but manipulation, haughtiness and just plain nastiness. Even when her background was disclosed, I found it hard to have sympathy for her. I yell to the handsome trucking boyfriend to leave, she is too pushy, too over the top. I do however like the young niece of Hosea Williams. I am sorry, but my friends feel the same way. Do their relationships have to be so contentious?

Several of these ladies act so trashy. Kim is white trash. The language she uses in front of her kids is awful. I hope she drops out of site. NeNe – be above all of the trash talk. You don’t want to be dropped from your new shows because of the way you act on this one. The 2 new women are pathetic. The old beauty queen is begging for a commitment from her boyfriend and the young one married to the ex football player acts like a child. Is this what Atlanta has to offer?

This show is past its prime. I think the Bravo folks might see the handwriting on the wall, given the new Atlanta-based shows coming on board. As for this show, the cast seems to have gotten too “big” for the show (at least in their minds). It’s clear NeNe feels above it and Kim definitely feels superior. Only on Bravo can two strippers with no background in any solid career feel superior to anything, lol, but it is what it is. To their credit, audiences liked seeing them make fools of themselves. They did draw viewers. The rest of the cast is not interesting enough to sustain viewers. From a ratings perspective, Bravo should have probably replaced Kim with another White woman, just to even keep the facade of inclusiveness. Unlike the other housewives shows, these women don’t have rich, accomplished better halves. Kim would be the only one who married “up,” but even her husband is simple and uninteresting. The ladies on the other shows are not forced to carry the show all by themselves. Their husbands provide an air of intrigue. They are not broke and lost like Peter and Apollo.

OMG NeNe is an IDIOT. If she got fired from a BRAVO show they sure a heck wouldn’t be giving her a spinoff… While Kim isn’t a model for moralistic behavior; these “brown girls” are just as bad. They Lie about everything. They hate on her for wearing wigs. BUT every last one of them has a wig on and NeNe’s is now BLONDE.. GREG was married when NeNe took him from his wife and kids so she needs to drop the “close your legs to married men”. NeNe is so jealous of Kim that all she can do is cut her down. Kim is smart to distance herself from these crazy women.
I’m starting to realize that they hate Kim because she’s WHITE… there I said it.

NeNe good heavens…with all that “success” you think she would not give a rats azz about Kim. But every time she opens her mouth its to put Kim down. If all her “success” was so stable she wouldn’t need to keep the feud going with Kim in order to stay relevant. She certainly wouldn’t need to stay on the RHOA. It’s old and petty and UNINTERESTING.

Last night’s epidsode was a hoot! I felt that Kim’s days on the show was numbered. She has clearly outgrown all of the drama and I don’t blame her for one bit! I mean how much drama could one person really stand. Having a cast of only sisters is probably the worst thing that Bravo could possibly have done, which proves that the show is on its last leg. I wish each and every one of them the best, but I hope that they realize at some point that Bravo is only making a mockery of them and their lives.

I am wondering why there are so many complaints and insults about the show. Each comment contains very specific and detailed assassinations of each character. How is this possible? It sounds like you all are watching the show and keeping it on the air. Here’s a thought: Don’t watch and it will go away. Entertainment is entertainment.

Did anyone watch Kim on Watch What Happens Live? I’m just curious as to what she said to Andy about her departure. Obviously, as a Bravo exec, I’m sure he knows the “real” story, but I’m curious as to what they said on the air.
Kim is clearly lazy and has an entitlement complex. I think we all can see that. However, I don’t see Nene or any of the other ladies having much of a leg to stand on.

I suppose she doesn’t want to have “five” pregnancies because she counts the miscarriage as one and the two of each as the other four pregnancies. I think it’s safer to surmise that she doesn’t know biology well enough to understand that you don’t wish to the pregnancy fairies that you’ll get exactly what you want. Rodney, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE, if you’re going to do a write up, you need to have someone proofread it! I found 3 mistakes in here that made sentences in here overall confusing for me to read.
Anyway, as far as Kim is concerned, i think this was planned and staged. First off, Kroy was driving the car. Why would her husband drive her to a lunch if she was planning on staying to eat. Secondly, she didn’t have a purse with her when she got out the car. All she had was a cellphone in hand. I’m unsure of why Bravo is giving Kim a spinoff, she honestly isn’t that interesting. But I wont be shedding any tears since she’s not on RHOA anymore. I’m sick of her and Sweetie.

2. The “lets all take a trip together” storyline (off course we going to include all the folks who don’t get along).
3. The “she back stabbed me behind my back” storyline (and I must confront her to let her know “Homey don’t play dat.”
4. The broke / drugged out/ or man problem character.
5. The rich – pampered “everyone must bow down to me” character.
6. The trouble maker.
7. The “can’t we all just get along” character.
8. The flirt
9. The prude
10. The “easy” one.
All of these shows are getting old…we need a new genre of entertainment…..

Most of these “characters” are the worst. NeNe is the only one that keeps it real. Bravo, the ratings are telling you something; discontinue this show. Some of these women are so fake and yet you are bringing to the air a show featuring some of Atlanta’s ministers wives. I saw the trailer and I have two words: Ghetto Trash!!!!

Porsha is an embarrassment to her family! She has GOT to be. This clueless girl is a very bad representation for the Hosea Williams family. It’s a disgrace that she is even on a show like this. This stupid girl actually said ‘Hosea Williams feed the hungry people more than just on Thanksgiving day. We feed them 265 days a year!”. She is so stupid and clueless. It’s so obvious that this rich girl has been sheltered her entire life. She is rich and does not have a clue what it’s like to be in need of anything. I think she means well, but she is also clueless. It seems as though the donations that’s given to the organization is going into her pocket for her lifestyle. It isn’t, but a lot of people may believe that it is.
Now Phaedra need to kick Kenya’s behind! She is totally disrespecting her. She is all over Apollo like white is on rice and he is loving every second of it. I don’t trust her. Kenya is triflin’ and she will be dealt with.
Kandi creeps me out. She talks and mumbles through her teeth. Please somebody teach that girl how to talk clearly and stop mumbling through her teeth. She used to have class now she is just classless. I mean did she REALLY just ALLOW a strange man to move in to her home with her little girl there? Really? That’s tacky. And for her to just take it upon herself to invite Kenya along the trip that Cynthia and her husband planned is classless and tacky! I think that Cynthia need to make mumbling Kandi pay for her own expenses as well as Kenyas’. Cynthia only said she would not pay for Kenyas expenses. I don’t think they should pay for Kandis’ either. Kandi is sneaky and messy. I don’t like her anymore.
Good Riddance to Kim. I think she is jealous of NeNe because NeNe is well known in Hollywood and doing quite well for herself. NeNe tried to make amends with Kim, but Kim constantly rejects her. To hell with Kim and her tacky husband!

It’s just “HOLLYWOOD” people, you would have to be a “complete” idiot to think that these young ladies actually behave this way when the cameras are not rolling. I just look at this show along with several other Real Housewives shows as an upscale soap opera. If you are so displeased with the RHOA evidently you haven’t watched Real Housewives of New Jersey, New York, Miami & Orange County. They all bicker, fight, are jealous of each other & have continuous drama & LAST, BUT NOT LEAST, ONLY ABOUT 2 OR 3 ARE MARRIED. SMH!! Porsha is Rev. Hosea Williams Granddaughter, not his niece. She does need etiquette class because she doesn’t seem to know how to put her words when speaking at times. I like her though. She just needs to class it up a little, think before speaking. Kenya, is a legend in her own mind. She’s a washed up has been. She use to be cute, but I don’t know what she’s been doing to her face that has her looking like a completely different person. I think the show will not be the same without Kim. I think she made the show. I don’t blame Kim for not wanting to go anywhere with those ladies they always treated her bad and she was at a different place in her life then they are. I will be a fan of her new show. And NeNe doesn’t have room to talk about anyone. What goes around comes around.

So far I’ve watched at least 10 minutes of one rerun. Haven’t figured out the purpose of the program. None of the characters resemble any of my friends. No aspiration for attaining greatness. Just a continuous storyline about how to be rude, hateful and show skin.

@Samantha-I don’t watch the show regularly but SEVERAL people told me they agree with Kim not allowing NeNe to use her to “pretend” to be changed (see NeNe’s trying to build her fake brand as well)!! Some horrible things were said about Kim’s life and kids on the reunion show. NeNe isn’t well known in Hollywood!! That’s why she thanked the New Normal producer for hiring an ex bullying ignorant no talent stripper over other more talented black actresses I bet who would have loved the opportunity but yall won’t support them will you???? Kim jealous of NeNe (wait let me stop rolling on the floor with laughter)? I do not care what any of these ladies do. I just want Porsha Williams Stewart to stop talking about Hosea Williams. It is clear she barely knew him. She does not know when he died or anything about the organization. She also has no idea how days there are in a year.

I am very pit out buy the way that Kim’s potty mouth is on the show. she even talks like that no matter who is around, even her kids, including the baby. What the hell is wrong with the husband?
I am glad she is gone, nothing like trying to watch a show and every other word is beeped out.

I have watched the show every week since it aired and have really enjoyed it. Last night’s episode was something I believe was long overdue. Kim is a user; she uses you then throws you away.
Examples:
Big Poppa – she conveniently ended their relationship right when he was having money problems (Union Station foreclosure) she was done using him and got a lot.
Kandi – she befriended her, got a hit song, and became a POPSTAR. She did not pay her right and now the friendship is over, so she used her to become a star.
Kendra – Kendra had a house and Kim wanted it. They may have been friends before but once Kim saw the opportunity, she bounced on it. She rented the house and used Kendra’s decorating skills. I believe she never paid her what they agreed on based on her history (ex. Kandi). Then when it came to buying the house, why not just say well we decided to go another route, instead it’s a big blow up and now that she’s done using Kendra they are done.
Bravo – She used Bravo for Fame and everything else. I think now she’s over it. So what she may have another show and I think I’ll pass on that one. Enjoyed the wedding special only because I like wedding.
Kroy – She wanted to be married and have more children. She’s got it. I just hope she stays for the long haul and not use him as she did everyone else.
I’m not saying the “Brown Girls”are better but I was tired of Kim. I believe NeNe should exit at the end of the season as well. She has taking her fame to Hollywood and should let someone else in her place.

How can NeNe say ‘FIRED” when it’s clear that the walk out wasn’t expected. Kim was miserable around them anyway, especially when NeNe is present at filming. Can someone tell Porsha to return to school before having the babies, it’s embarassing to hear her use non-existent words. Her husband does the same thing, wrong word, wrong context. Further the ‘higher’ education together as a couple, to help those kids later.

All of theses women were unknown to viewers so for any of them to think of themselves better than the other is crazy. Kim is a liar and has nothing good to say about anybody. I don’t think anyone is going to be that interested in Kim’s show. I mean all unless all you want is a lot of bad words, drinking,farts, smoking,and oh yeah sex!!! At least I can give the other ppl on the show some credit they at least have some kind of career or project to do. All you get with Kim is, is she gonna be prego again or with her husband( and has anyone ever seen him play a game yet?) Give her credit for a couple of things she got a guy(personality of a brick), a show(might not stay on but 1 season) and a bunch of kids and got it all without having to work that hard. I don’t blame her cause they deliberately set Kim up knowing full well she could not travel and get on a airplane to the islands in her condition. Kroy was at mini-camp that was in June and she gave birth around 8 weeks later in August maybe less than 8 weeks. Are those women out of their minds????? Don’t answer.

I’m still grinding my teeth over the last episode where Porsha made a big show out of receiving a $2000 bag at a CHARITY EVENT. I’m not donating to Hosea Feed the Hungry as long as I have to wonder whether the money helps people in need or pays for Porsha’s couture. The only reason I watch anymore is to see what restaurants and other establishments they visit. So I can avoid them. I’ve stopped shopping at Intimacy since they got in bed with this show. The truly elite people of Atlanta wouldn’t give this trash the time of day.

It doesn’t make sense for the producers to fire Kim from this show only to give her a spin-off. I think Nene is definitely stirring the pot when it comes to drama about Kim, even though she claims she could care less about her. I was talking about this episode with my co-worker from DISH and we both are trying to figure out how Kandi and Kenya became great friends? Luckily, I have this episode recorded on my DISH Hopper; I’m bad with weekly timers so instead I set it to record the season. I have over 400 hours of HD DVR room, and with that I won’t miss a single episode and I can still record my other favorite programs the same night without using up much space. Kim will not be missed from this show and I won’t be tuning in to see her spin-off.

I watch the show for entertainment and everyone else should as well. No one should take this stuff too serious. Usually when I don’t like something I change the station, cancel the recording and forget about it. (ie Seinfield).
