‘The X Factor’ top 8 results show recap: what the…?

Who the heck is voting for CeCe Frey anyway? CREDIT: Fox

Who the heck is voting for CeCe Frey anyway? CREDIT: Fox

I totally blew the call tonight. I thought CeCe Frey and Fifth Harmony were goners. I couldn’t have been more wrong! Neither of them was even in the bottom three.

Instead, doomed R&B singer Paige Thomas was cut after what I thought was her best performance last night. But she never had a chance to win anyway.

Diamond White and Vino Alan competed for the sixth and final spot.

Vino slipped from third place to elimination in the end. L.A. Reid did him no favors giving him that Righteous Brothers song. It did not work and he lost votes.

The showdown featured White working Beyonce and Alan opting for Ray LaMontagne. The judges favored White.

Based on the votes below, it’s clear Carly Rose Sonenclar is solidifying herself as the favorite to win the $5 million contract. She was tops, ahead of Tate Stevens, for a second week in a row.

The top six:

1. Carly Rose (1st last week)
2. Tate Stevens (2nd last week)
3. Emblem3 (up from fourth last week)
4. Fifth Harmony (up from seventh)
5. CeCe Frey (up from eighth or ninth)
6 (or 7th). Diamond White (down from fifth)

From MJS Big Blog: How MJ rated them last night =.

1. Carly Rose
2. Tate Stevens
3. Emblem3
4. Fifth Harmony
5. Vino Allan
6. Diamond White
7. Paige Thomas
8. CeCe Frey

But then —-

“”Here’s how things shook out in the online poll: Whoa, we’ve got some CeCe love up in here! No love for Vino at all.”"

1. Carly Rose – Rolling in the Deep – 44.2%
2. Tate Stevens – Somebody Like You – 12.16%
3. Fifth Harmony – Stronger – 12.07%
4. CeCe Frey – Lady Marmalade – 11.7%
5. Emblem3 – I’m A Believer – 8.45%
6. Paige Thomas – Never Going to Give You Up – 7.8%
7. Diamond White – 2.32%
8. Vino Allan – You’ve Lost that Loving Feeling – 1.3%

I’ve seen some other online entertainment site readers polls, that also show different than what we might expect – maybe the bizarre splendor of Lady Marmalade might have saved CeCe from first-out with no chance to sing. Pretty much all of the site writers have her gone first, which is probable – - but could be interesting tonight.

Since someone has to leave, my vote goes to CeeCee. I would say 5th Harmony, but I feel they’re safe, mostly due to Simon.

Acts through to top 6: 5th Harmony /
CeCe Frey (Simon upset) /

Since the Judges did not deadlock, we don’t know if Diamond actually finished 6th or 7th.

Now the quotient for next week is; who will get the most conversions among the voters. Paige’s former troops are up for grabs, as are Vino’s.

actual votes=

5th – CeCe Frey

4th – 5th Harmony

3rd – Emblem 3

2nd – Tate Stevens

1st – Carly Rose Sonenclar

I think Paige’s former voters (that don’t just quit voting) will swing toward 5th Harmony and Diamond. Carly Rose may get a little benefit, but not as much.

Vino’s former voters (that don’t just quit watching or voting) will swing mostly toward Tate.

That leaves Emblem 3 to keep trying to build a wider base among the teen/tween/hip-hop fan base, without any real help from the eliminations tonight.

CeCe rolls-on alone, with the eye of the tiger, her empty suitcase under the bed and lots of rage against her on the twitter & blogs. But then, it will cause a lot of people to tune-in next week, to see the battlerounds continue.

L.A. needs to sign Vino immediately to make up for screwing him up this week. Yeah, you’re in a competition with some real singing talent who’ve been working on their song selection for a week… Hmmm, let’s change the song at the last minute and see how it goes. …Yeah, righhhhht!

And I’m with Rodney. How is CeCe Frey still in this show???

Harriett

Good morning!

Hey, I am with you, Highlander. I am so angry about L.A. changing the song and causing Vino to drop from third to elimination. Song choice, song choice, song choice! I could see it if it was Vino who changed or insisted on another song, but to have his mentor screw him over–well, that is just too much. I was a Vino voter who will NOT switch to Tate. In fact, I think Carly should win and will win, unless her mentor screws her over. And, count me among those on the “Cee Cee go home” bandwagon.

Could it be Britney and Simon voted for Diamond because they felt sorry for Lovato, who would have been without an “act” if Diamond had gone home?

Vino was the far better singer last night.

And good morning!

Best new movie opening today – “Hitchcock”. More about Mrs. Hitch, Alma, who wielded more power over this fabulous director than most people knew. Once his boss, Alma remained Alfred’s minder, adviser, and unsung helpmate. She’s played by Helen Mirren, due another Oscar nomination.

Movie tells of Hitchcock’s personal and professional anguish during the making of “Psycho”. High off the success of “North by Northwest”, the studio wanted Hitch to make another movie “just like that one.” The prickly director wanted something different. Loved to watch the casting of the leads in “Psycho”!

Entertainment Weekly has listed its winners and losers of Pop Stars-Turned-Reality TV Judges:

Winners; Blake Shelton (”good-ol’-boy appeal”), Adam Levine (”his LA-cool-persona has been humanized by ‘The Voice’”), Demi Lovato (”has now officially moved beyond ‘former Disney star’”) and Cee Lo Green (”having an outlet for his rotound/Romeo charms should carry him into his next project”).

Mercedes S.

November 30th, 2012

EW’s Losers: Christina Aguilera (”The fundamental problem seems to be C’s unlikeability: Every shows needs a villain, and with three fountans of charisma also coaching on ‘The Voice’, she appears to have filled that role”), Jennifer Lopez (”She capitalized on early buzz but ultimately couldn’t make it stick”), Steven Tyler (”Tyler has learned the lesson of Paula Abdul: Onscreen wackiness guarantees ratings, not record sales”), and Britney Spears (”The unfiltered nature of ‘The X Factor’s’ live shows has chipped away at her pop-robot rep, and she undioubtedly goosed the show’s ratings – but probably not enough to justify her reported $15 million paycheck”).

Back for lunch -CeCe is probably having some yogurt in her room, while Simon is having Pheasant Under Glass, and ordering a suitcase for CeCe to pack.

Any of the young girls like Beatrice, Diamond and Carly, all have many opportunities open for them at such a young age. Disney productions, Nick, and movie parts, as well as music. They are too young for parts in shows like Glee, High School based movies, etc. – but all that work is possible in the future. They don’t even have to sell a lot of records to have work in the entertainment field, if that’s what they and their parents want to do.

Paige might be able to get opening act or add-on type of work in the biz, but doubt that she will be a main draw, filling arena’s everywhere.

Unless 5th Harmony wins the show as a group, I doubt that they will stay together in the long-run. Maybe get a song out together, and if it’s not a hit, they may come down to a trio or even a couple stay together as a duet – and some go their separate ways.

If this were just a singing contest, rather than partially a popularity contest, it would still come down to a genre contest – as Vino was the best power R&B, classic heavy rock, Emblem 3 is the best Mod-Pop -Hip-Hop, Tate is the best country, etc. – that is available to watch on the show.

Unknown to some, CeCe also has some Hip-Hop, Rap history, as well as some pretty good rock covers of Lady GaGa’s “Marry the Night.”, previously linked on another thread. Hard to say if they will let her do some Hip-Hop to suddenly compete with Emblem 3 in some way, doubtful.

Deirdre: Please do NOT have any guilt feelings for any feeling of relief you may have. It is about the saddest thing in the world sitting watching and waiting for a loved one to die, and the relief that the suffering for all parties is over is totally natural. The next steps, clearing out her apt at the home and disposing of items, are very hard, after which you need to just sit down, take a deep breath, and find something you love to do to occupy you for a few days!

Harriett, it’s been really slow around here for days! Yawn.

I saw “Lincoln” yesterday. Didn’t care for it – I was bored. DD Lewis and Sally F were great in the parts, but just rooms full of men yammering on and on was too much for me – I fell asleep twice. It did get better in the end, but by that time, it’d already lost me. My least fave Spielberg film ever, except for “Close Encounters…”, which I hated. I like my aliens (with the exception of ET) to be scary, not to play organ notes!

Here is a verse written that I personally found to be comforting when I recently lost someone close to me –
Author unknown –

“And passing into a new life in heaven, they shall find the blessing of rest from their labors, freedom from troubles and pain, peace beyond understanding and a warmth of love, shining like the sun.

All they have known of love from their mortal life is there waiting – and more, so much more. .Unconditional, timeless, endless and forever – Love and Goodwill.”

I do plan to watch the Voice tonight, and will have some company – so get their opinions as well.

I like that they have been letting America decide this year, and not letting the Judges get into the percentage scramble for saves once they got the top 10 rolling. Hope they stick with it.

There is more commraderie and good-spirited competition on this show, than on the X-Factor. The latter keeps drilling that each contestant must have an overwhelming desire to win and crush the competition – looking for ways to critisize, demonize, manipulate and belittle the contestants – and each other as Judges.

But then, that’s the hot mess that keeps us mad enough to come back and vote for our fav, or the underdog or against the judge that ticked us off the most. Melanie Amero and Ke$sha perform on the results show next Thursday.

Harriett: A couple weeks ago I felt “Revenge” had gone too complicated, and was about to quit it, but the past two weeks have been pretty darn good, so I’m still here. Sad that most of my faves, ie “Walking Dead”, “Castle”, “Once Upon….”, “Grimm” are going on hiatus for a few weeks/couple months, and “Amazing Race” is about to end it’s current run – I’m getting worried about what I’m gonna have to watch for the next weeks. Anxiously awaiting the return of “Pretty Little Liars” among others.

However, I read the Wikipedia regarding the original after watching the show and they do incorporate many elements while keeping the show very interesting. I also like the working relationship between the two main characters, because I am sick of the standard “love” interest all these shows degrade into i.e. Bones, Castle.

Sam-A

JT: I love “Castle” and they have GREAT chemistry.

I think the Jeremy dude must be on the PBS show – really weird dude and show – feel like I’ve smoked a dozen jo…. – never mind – the few times I’ve watched it. I believe Jonny Lee Miller is the Sherlock on “Elementary”. Of course I’ve been known to be wrong once or twice (certainly no more than that!!).

I prefer the old Sherlock of the 40’s with Basil Rathbone and Nigel Bruce.
