Bravo greenlights three (count’em three) Atlanta reality shows: ‘Don’t Be Tardy,’ ‘Married to Medicine’ and ‘Taking Atlanta’

Kim Zolciak waves bye bye to "Real Housewives "and is back in spinoff land. CREDIT: Bravo

Atlanta is already home to several reality shows: “Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta,” “Say Yes to the Dress: Atlanta,” “Auction Kings,” “Big Rich Atlanta,” to name a few.

Bravo, home to “Real Housewives of Atlanta,” is acting all BET on us by setting up three more reality shows here, all variations on the same theme of rich women generating drama and conflict.

One we already know about: it’s the continuation of Kim Zolciak’s life, post “Real Housewives of Atlanta.” She had a successful spinoff earlier this year about her wedding. She’s currently taping her second spinoff. (Her final appearance on “Real Housewives” is set for this Sunday.)

Here’s the press release description of what you can expect from her series (working title” Don’t Be Tardy,”) which certainly would not surprise anyone who has been following her travails with her family. (Her dad last week called her a “pathological liar” and her mom filed a claim to try to see her grandkids.)

Season two follows Kim and Kroy Biermann in the next phase of their marriage, which involves the demands of their ever-growing family, purchasing their dream house, and a possible adoption. The pressure is on as Kim tries to resolve extended family issues and manage the renovation of their house all while juggling being a loving mother, a caring wife and staying in the limelight.

The other two are brand new:

“Married to Medicine” follows a group of successful and educated women, including doctors and wives of doctors, who are connected to the world of medicine in Atlanta. Whether delivering babies in Louboutins or rushing off to galas in Buckhead, these women do everything with style, drama, and of course, southern flair.

My interpretation: “Real Housewives of Atlanta” meets “Grey’s Anatomy.” I’m told it’s in production and has been cast.

“Taking Atlanta” tracks the city’s next-generation movers and shakers as they make their mark in the glamorous arenas of fashion, music, hospitality and real estate while enjoying the city’s sizzling social scene and balancing the demands of their tumultuous family situations.

My interpretation: Ummm… “Real Housewives of Atlanta” meets “Big Rich Atlanta”? This one, I don’t think, has been cast yet.

There been no casting announcements or launch dates set for either of the two new shows.

A family member of mine works at the doctor’s office for one of “Married to Medicine” cast members. Hopefully it’s not overly scripted, she says the doctor is a really good guy.

Married to Medicine has been filming for two months and was cast a while ago. Two ladies are doctors, two are married to doctors. They have been filming at events around town since the beginning of October.

So, it sounds as if the conflict between Kim and her parents may be a setup for the new show. Surprise!

Also, why in the world would Kim and Kroy consider adopting a child and what kind of agency would actually allow this.

The adopting would probably be Kroy adopting Kim’s two daughters ~

Becoming home to numerous new reality shows is not exactly something I would be bragging about. Especially when it’s built around idiocy and pretentiousness.

When he said, “all BET” I thought he was referencing the amount of production/filming by the network. BET films a lot of there shows here, I believe he was implying that Bravo is about to do the same. I sincerely hope he didn’t mean it any other way ; )

@Southern Yep! I think that is exactly what he mean by that statement.

I am the nurse of one of the doctors on the Married to Medicine show and they are almost finished filming. They have been filming since around October. The show is more like RHOA meets Basketball Wives (think cat fights). I will say that all that glitters isn’t gold nor real. A lot of skeletons will come out of the closet but these ladies are smart, there will be a fair share of drama – enough to get picked up for season two. Their families and patients will be proud, NOT! *Hi MH! (side eye)

This is the image Atlanta has now. Fake reality. Sassy black women and rednecks. Nothing glamorous about either of those demographic groups. They are filming Big Rich Atlanta in my neighborhood. The house was rented for the show, not owned by the occupants. The occupants are from Sumter, SC, not from Atlanta. They hang at the fictitious Buckhead Country Club, which is actually a club in OTP Roswell that signed a deal to be the location for BCC. There is no reality here at all. The producer saw a pretty girl in a bar in Atlanta and said “you are hot. Want to be on a reality show?” This nugget is from her little brother, who was down here visiting the rental house/film set from South Carolina.

When I say “all BET,” yes, I’m saying they do all their scripted programming here as well as a few reality shows, too.

@snark you are dead-on. reality tv is not reality at all. these are all trash that producers can make for cheap with the help of tax breaks. they know that poor people will watch them and people in atlanta like to think that they are living in hollywood get to talk about the stupid shows. i can’t believe society has sunk this low, especially considering there is no redeeming value to the shows and the reality is there is nothing “glamorous” about atlanta. it is just another town in a flyover state, so you will only get the eyes of the rednecks and other idiots.

Say it isn’t so. These shows don’t do anything but drip misery, push stereotypes and encourage all around ugliness. The souls of these women are on display, and they are awful. The only show that’s even mildly interesting is T.I. and Tiny’s Family Hustle, and it’s the kids that make that show go. I’m so much more excited about “Girl Meets World,” not shot in Atlanta, totally scripted and will be shown on ABC Family. I think it’s time to get back to some old fashioned wholesome, happiness.

Ah, the further decline of the TV industry. I haven’t watched regular TV in over a year. I stick to Netflix and Hulu Plus for my programing needs. IF I want to watch reality TV, I will watch a documentary or two on Nat Geo. Heck, you can get better reality from watching re-runs of COPS! What I really hate is those stupid shows like, “South Beach Tow” or Hardcore Pawn”, etc. They appear to be real, but are lame. Why is this crap on TV!!

I would have thoguht Taking Atlanta would be about all of the violent crime in the city. Oh wait, that would be the same as the 6 oclock news. How many children have been shot today?
