Newcomer Porsha Stewart makes her first appearance on the show at Joy’s Cafe in Buckhead with fellow newbie Kenya Moore. They clearly aren’t going to be BFFs anytime soon.
As the grand-daughter of late civil rights icon Hosea Williams, Stewart works with Hosea Williams Feed the Hungry Foundation. She tells Moore that “it’s the largest foundation in the South.” I can’t imagine that’s true but she’s obviously trying to impress Kenya.
“Being a celebrity and former Miss USA, I’m often invited to make appearances to increase donations,” Kenya explains later with a straight face.
Kenya also notes that she too has a foundation. (Don’t they all?)
Then Porsha asks her, out of the blue, if she’s married. Then she starts quizzing Kenya about marriage and kids, and clearly, Kenya is more focused on her spinach salad (minus the candied walnuts) than answering her questions.
“I’m being blindsided by a lot of personal questions. Does she want me to be the guest of honor at her charity event or her BFF?” Kenya tells the cameras later, her words dripping with condescension. She then adds, “She has this cheerleader quality about her… she seemed a little young and naive.”
When explaining her charity, Porsha struggles to come up with the term “recession.” This was obviously a way to imply that yes, she is a bit ditzy. “I’ve always had a deep purpose in my life from the beginning,” she says. (How deeply involved is she with the Hosea Williams Feed the Hungry program? I heard she isn’t that involved.).
Porsha freely says she’d like to have twins so she can get through a pregnancy only once. She’d also like to be done with pumping out kids by age 35. Kenya is 41.
Later, at the charity event, Porsha introduces Kenya as “Miss America” instead of “Miss USA.” Uh oh.
“How do you get that wrong?” Kenya says later, deeply annoyed. “She’s not a public speaker.”
Obviously, the only person who cares is Kenya. So she leaves the party, complaining that it’s cold. The food hasn’t even arrived. Miss Lawrence shows up and they are thinking of just bolting. But Porsha pops up to see where she had gone.
“It’s disrespectful” to leave early, Porsha said.
“It’s disrespectful to invite me and getting in front there and not knowing my title,” Kenya opines. “I feel disrespected!”
“I have a line and the line has been crossed,” Porsha later says. “We’re at my grandfather’s home. You have disrespected my legacy!”
They argue over the fact Kenya is rude enough to prematurely leave a charity that helps kids. “It’s a whack event,” Kenya says, reviving a rather dated term. Porsha then questions the legitimacy of Kenya’s “foundation.” Then she simply asks Kenya to leave.
“You didn’t kick me out,” Kenya notes later. “This is my back as I’m leaving.”
Her conclusion on Porsha: “Her identity rests on the coattails of everyone else. She’s the wife of. She’s the grand-daughter of. Porsha has to make a name for herself like I made a name for myself. She needs to do the same.”
What’s up with the other housewives?
NeNe Leakes: Ex-hubby Gregg and NeNe are both getting pedicures. He tries to get a key to her house. “I need a key to your house and a key to your heart,” he says, possibly the cheesiest line ever. ‘Trying to get my woman back,’ he tells Miss Lawrence. NeNe is okay with the wooing. Later, she’s in New York City to promote “The New Normal” at upfronts. Cynthia Bailey happens to be in town so they meet up. Cynthia is amazed that NeNe has never taken a subway. She gives her a lesson at the 49th Street Station and NeNe survives, albeit she is likely to stick with town cars. Cynthia gets a hotdog from a sidewalk vendor but NeNe isn’t touching it.
Phaedra Parks: She is putting together a “donkey booty” workout video with her husband Apollo. “It will have butt lifting and butt plumping properties to give you that curvacious bottom you dream of,” she says. “I’m the donkologist.” She later meets with Kenya, who tells some history about her mother not raising her and treating her horribly. She says after she received therapy, she let it go and is no longer angry.
Kim Zolciak: Since Kim can’t drink wine while pregnant, she decides to whine about being booted from her house. “There is not one f***ing house in Atlanta that I like, there’s not one that’s nice enough for me to go buy right now,” she says.
She decides to move back to her 5,000-square-foot townhouse with her husband, four kids and two dogs. How are they ever going to manage?
Vengeful that she is, she plans to pluck out $40,000 worth of flowers she planted for her wedding out of the yard. “I’m keeping my f***ing flowers,” she says. “I’m crazy as f***.”
Here’s a clip
Kandi Burruss: Kandi packs up to move into her big mansion after 15 years in the same house. That’s pretty much it for her storyline this week.
QUOTES
“The higher I go, the less I have to concern myself with jealous, petty people. If Kim wants to storm out of my appreciation party, it means nothing to me. I’m so past Kim now.” – NeNe. And so are we, Nene. So are we.
“She’s a strange bird. Very eccentric and crazy. I’m a little eccentric and crazy. I can appreciate her interestingly odd behavior.” - Phaedra on Kenya
“A closed mouth don’t get fed, honey.” - Phaedra, picking up an old Southern aphorism.
“I’m a part of history. My only job is to lend my celebrity name and watch the donations roll in.” - Kenya, showing no sense of proportion about her “celebrity.”
“I’ve always lived well. My perfect day is calling my various girlfriends who don’t work, have lunch with them and then coming home to my husband” (That’s Kordell Stewart, former NFL player and a new 92.9/The Game afternoon host) – Porsha, revealing how rough her life is.
RATINGS
The second episode last week drew 2.55 million viewers and a 1.2 rating among 18 to 49s. That’s about a 20% drop in overall viewers and 25% drop in 18-49 year olds. Among 18-49, that’s not even one-fifth the audience that “The Walking Dead” drew that same time. The average episode last season drew 2.8 million viewers.

Miss America, oops, I meant Miss USA is mentally unbalanced. Tonight we got it straight from the horse’s mouth; oops, I meant Miss USA’s mouth that her mother was mentally unbalanced. Don’t stone me ya’ll, but the apple fell right beside the tree. Kenya, oops, I meant Miss USA is straight CRAZY! Now I know Atlanta had at least one more NON-MARRIED person to be on RHOA; there was no reason for Kenya, oops, I meant Miss USA, to move her crazy butt to Atlanta to be on RHOA. Her actions and reactions are clear to me; she isn’t acting, she’s CRAZY for real ya’ll…Bless her heart!

Kenya Moore (who?) Miss USA from when? Producer of what? OMG get over yourself! We have now met Porsha who although seems a little sheltered by her privileged upbringing, came across as a sweety who is loved by family and friends. In comes the nasty, up-herself, Kenya Moore to try to belittle and bring down yet another housewive! It is total jealousy with tunnel vision only on herself. What did Kenya (who?) think she was going to do at that event – be the centre of attention? She was invited to attend an event from another housewive and that was ALL!! As if the event would suffer because she would leave, lmao! Good on you Porsha for asking her to leave! I like you more after seeing that. Porsha, go and meet Cynthia – u will have a friend in her with the same opinion of the FORMER and very old Miss USA honey! I can’t wait for someone to really put Kenya in her place.

Like Martin Luther King whose kids only care about money. Now we have Hosea Williams granddaugher who only cares abourt material things. She was more interested in the present her husband bought her instead of the check for charity. Did this woman go to college she appears dumb. When will people ever learn! I see Ms Lawrence is only a yes man for Kenya. She was rude and he just let her behavior go. I hope Walter is watching this. He has kids and believe she would be rude and crude with them as well.

It is always funny to me that whenever a “Housewife” hosts an event, they promote it as a high end event. Only the most “influential” women in Atlanta are invited. I am still waiting on these influential women to show up. The only person who has come close is Marlo during last season’s (I think) filming. She invited NeNe to an event hosted by Laura Turner Seydel. So glad this a show and not a documentary. Atlantans and Atlanta are so much better than this.

Not quite sure and someone please correct me if I’m wrong by all means……but didn’t Hosea Williams pass away in like 2001 or somewhere around there. I remember working at Piedmont Hospital at the time of his passing (that’s where he was when he passed) and I’m pretty sure it was early 2000. I remember all the media being outside of the hopsital. She said 1998….maybe I’m wrong but I don’t think so. Since she is involved with his foundation I would hope she knows when he passed away. Just saying, maybe I’m wrong.

Yep I was right….Porsha told Kenya her grandfather died in 1998, but he died November 16, 2000. Now come on if you’re going to spear-head a charity event at least know the right dates about the founder. Especially if it’s a family member, not only that a family member as close as your GRANDFATHER!! She must have been in diapers then.

Hosea Williams died on November 16, 2000. Feed the Hungry Foundation is a serious effort to feed hungry people. Porsha needs to keep that foundation out of her storyline. She is not representing it well especially when you do not know the year, let alone the date of the death of this civil rights leader. Don’t discuss difficult subjects. Keep meeting with friends who do not work and keep it safe Porsha. Now how did Porsha think that came across. Geeze.

Being a beauty queen is not something I have always encouraged young women to aspire to do. But I reserve criticism because many young women earn scholarships that are helpful in other endeavors like college, or using the prize money to purchase a home. But if you are a representevative of one of these organizations as a winner or one who once wore a crown, you must always try to be mindful of that. Kenya Moore clearly has not and does not EVER plan to be mindful of that. And they stripped the beautiful and lovely wife, mother, and grammy winner Vanessa Williams of a crown? ( I know Ms. Williams was Miss America and Miss Moore was Miss USA.) Go figure.

I am deeply sadden to this Porsha girl on Atlanta Housewives making the Hosea William Foundation looking like a joke. Hosea’s daughter has spent years building this foundation after Hosea died. This grandchild is actually the daughter of Hosea’s deceased son. I doubt if she has ever done anything for this foundation and her appearance on this show is not helping.
Her husband showing up giving her a channel bag at fundraised is so stupid.
Is she selling the bag and giving it to her aunt for food for the foundation.
Stop pimping Hosea’s little girl.
Who is this husband?
he is making a fool out of himself too.

The level of narcissism and pomposity projected by Kenya Moore is perplexing given the relatively low level of her celebrity. She clearly fancies herself a highly recognizable figure, although the average viewer would likely struggle to pinpoint how or why they should be familiar with her. She’s more than filled the void left by Sheree’ departure from the cast. Personally, I’m unimpressed by the projection of her thus far, which I venture to say is not very far off the mark of who she is sans the camera crew.

I feel so bad and sorry for Kenya. Her Mother abandoned her and did not raise her. That is why she is the way she is. So sad… I really feel bad for her. She was Ms. U.S.A. a long time ago – 1993. “…pomposity projected by Kenya Moore is perplexing given the relatively low level of her celebrity.” – Now, that right this is comical at best. CJofEAV, you’re probably a level-headed person, but you fail to see that Kenya sees herself as a “high level” celebrity. Hell, she walks around with her own security. The girl isn’t even pretty with her pimpled, heavily made up face.

Porsha has good intentions, she is just naive. One can tell she grew up spoiled but spoiled does not mean that she is mean or vicious. Her quizzing Kenya is testament to how vulnerable, innocent and green she is. She is just different from most people who had harsher lives. I do not think she should put herself out there as a fundraiser. She may be perceived as doing more harm than good to her grandfather’s legacy.
I feel sorry for Kenya. Kenya does have a lot of problems, hence, the way she treats others. Unlike Porsha, she had to scratch and kick her way to the top, which explains her harshness, cynicism and imbalances in life. She would never be able to relate to someone like Porsha. Porsha needs a gentler touch. Maybe Cynthia for a friend. Kenya would be better off being friends with someone like Kim.
I really do love Nene and Cynthia’s friendship. I am reminded of me and my two besties relationship. Nene is growing and I must say being very careful of whom she steps on, on her way to the top and Cynthia is genuinely supportive. Unfortunately, some women cannot relate to this kind of thing because like Kenya their live experiences are different.

I just watched last nights episode of RHOA. I can understand that everyone is taken back by Porsha not quoting the correct date of her grandfather’s death, but to say that you will not be supporting The Charity is going to far. Porsha is her own woman, she is not her granddad, or her aunt. That charity, i’m sure, was set up to feed hungry children. How could we not support that. If I have to choose a side in the Porsha and Kenya saga, then I choose Porsha. Porsha is young and she will continue to mature with time, but Kenya is 41, thats what you call old dog no new tricks. She is not yet married and has no children and while my heart goes out to the girl whose mother didn’t want her, her need to come in and tare another black woman down, turns my stomach. She truly gives off the vibe that Bravo invited her on the show to check everyone. When she told Lawrence that she would,” have him eating the best sushi ” etc…like she has seen more or done more and she will enhance his culture. Kenya you can use a brushup in etiquette . I know it has been 20 years, thats a long time, so enroll in a refresher course. Lawrence is very much a lady, so maybe he can enhance your character. Im just saying.

To All:
Please don’t let the misguided and misinformed ramblings of Mrs. Porsha Stewart unfairly tarnish your view of the good work that has been done and continues to be done by her Grandfather’s foundation “Hosea Feed The Hungry”. The legacy of this foundation has been primarily shouldered by Mrs. Stewarts’s Aunt with little to no operational or strategic input from Mrs. Stewart.
Trust me when I tell you if Mrs. Stewart’s grandfather were alive he would be the first to call out his granddaughters public projection. He was never one to be shy about such things when he was alive.
Hosea Feed The Hungry will in just a few short days endevour to feed thousands of needy people and could use all the good will in both fiscal donations and human capital that the concern public can spare the cause.

I am not sure if Hosea, Jr. was ever married to Porsha’s mother, but when I knew him, he was married to a very smart woman (not Porsha’s mother) and they too have a daughter. A very smart daughter.
I think this Porsha is clearly not connected to this family other than in name.
If she was her aunt would be on this show.
That little party was hardly at Hosea’s house because that is in Eastlake and looks nothing like that. It does not even have a long driveway.

I think Kanya has mommy and daddy issues, thus this explains her insecurities. She seems to be extremely jealous of women that have husbands, thus her desperation is trying to get a man to wife her, but if she was all that, she would already be married, this should tell her something about that nasty attitude she has. I give Porsche a pass, she is very young, therefore her conversation is not going to be ideal for the typical 40+ year old woman, so with her asking those personal quesitons to Kenya, was totally understandable. They need to get rid of Kim, she is very boring and bitter. Bravo please do not renew her contract and let her find some other big poppa to fund her lifestyle.

Mr. Hosea is probably turning over in his grave! I pray that the charity does not suffer because of her.
I am so glad that Kim is on her way out the door! I was so over her at least two seasons ago. She has nothing going on right now and probably won’t in the future. She was more interesting as a homewrecker.

@ But Why?, You are absolutely wrong about woman who want to be like Ms. Porsha or Kenya Moore. The women Atlanta has more successful business’ and are home owners in this state, this is the capital of the INDEPENDENT WOMAN. What people fail to understand is reality t.v is not REALilty, most of it’s scripted to get ratings. Now with that being said I believe Porsha is just who she claims to be which is a crying shame becasue Hosea Williams Feed The Hungry provides meals and resources for the homeless and poor for many years. I know Hosea is probably flipping in his grave at how is granddaughter is pimpin his legacy to gain fame, forgive her Elizabeth Oliami for she is very naive and spoiled. This is not an image the legacy is trying to portray. I have volunteered many times until the birth of my son has kept me really busy.

I agree with Jst Askn, if you got all that money, why ask for the public’s help in making sure your family can feed others. Our donations can be used elsewhere instead of donating to a family that has all the riches and glory. As a foundation, if you were going to lend your name to such a television show as RHOA, you should’ve made sure it was in a positive light to show how the public help to feed the hunger, not how your family has so much money and riches, but yet we still need your help to feed the hungry. Thanks RHOA, we needed to see this.

Please don’t let the opinions of Mrs. Porsha or the RHOA discourage you from volunteering you time and resources for Hosea Feed The Hungry. This is a very good organization that didn’t ask for the grand-daughter to use the organization to gain fame. Porsha is twenty five with the mentality of a 10 year old.

@TG-I could not have said it better myself !!!!! Who do they think they are? All of Atlanta isn’t good enough for Kim to live in and NeNe won’t eat a hotdog-bet she ate plenty of them at the Varsity. Cry me a river. Their 15 minutes of fame are so over. Pack mean girl Kenya and her 19 year -old -crown up and send her back to LA.

Kenya Moore is an embarrassment to Atlanta. She’s not in a pageant anymore. She’s an old grown woman whose looks are washed in an ocean. What’s going on with the acne??? Horrible!!! I couldn’t stand Sheree, but Kenya is worse; no class, combative, arrogant, pompous, and in a hard freeze in time. Also, did she have plastic surgery??? Something is wrong with her face.
Cynthia stop being ignorant please!!! You’re as intelligent as a standing wall?? Did you attend any post secondary high school??? Every time you open your mouth it’s DUMB AIR!!! Get some education!!! All that forehead is empty.

I spent some of my early childhood in Atlanta in the 60s. My family member’s work there brought him in contact with many of Black Atlanta’s movers and shakers, the real ones. I know many of Atlanta’s Black Elite, and their descendants. You will not see any of the people I socialize with in Atlanta on any reality television program, they’re just to sophisticated and classy. We grew up doing charity work, this is only new to the newly rich. Our mothers played bridge, supported or financed local charities and/or volunteered their time. No one made a big deal of it, affluent families raised in Christian homes know that much is required of them and that much is expected. We are not allowed to accept praise or rewards for doing good/right. Lot of us have some pedigree but will never tell anyone. Us that grew up together considered our lineage sometimes as a burden.
The ideas above would not be understood by the RHOA housewives–I love Nene but I hope she doesn’t let all of this go to her head in a twisted way. I want to remind everyone about being born black and poor. Re: Kenya, many of my age group were not raised by a mother and father in a nuclear home. Many had mother’s who couldn’t even support them emotionally or financially but there was always a spinister Aunt with money and education who was willing to raise a child in the family. I consider these women our Angels on Earth. Not everyone was raised by a mother, how would she feel if her mother had died as opposed to abandoning her? Cynthia by far is my favorite. I could like Kandi but I don’t, I don’t understand why she feels the need to be friends with Kim–I want to tell her so bad that Kim is not her friend. That fakedra person, she is so pretentious she is a clown. Please don’t wear another herve leger bandaid dress, please, please, please.

Kenya Moore keeps reminding us that she was Miss USA not Miss America. The way she handles herself makes it clear that she pursued the correct path of pageantry. She is soooo Miss USA…she is not classy enough to compete in Miss America.

@ Kay: I donate to 4-5 worthy causes/organizations a year, including Hosea Feed the Hungry and Homeless. I will continue to donate to those causes sans Hosea this year. I won’t be hurting “innocent people” as you claim. Porsha’s bad behavior and ill representation of Hosea Williams’ rich legacy is troubling but not the sole reason I am ceasing to donate. I believe Elizabeth Omilami and the Hosea Foundation staff have the best intentions, however, mismanagement and other issues have plagued the Foundation for YEARS (including an issue a few years back when Elizabeth Omilami ‘inadvertently’ sent a donation request for her daughter’s wedding to the Hosea Feed the Hungry donor listserv instead of to her separate personal email listserv). Until they remedy the management and other issues, I will cease to donate. I am sure I’m not the only long-time donor who feels this way.

I can’t believe no one has commented on Porsha’s husband’s comments during the charity event. I almost fell out of my seat when he said “events like these EXPLOIT my wife’s huminatiarism and good works”.
Exploit? Exploit means to take advantage off, dumbass. I’m sure he meant to say something like “highlight” or “showcase”, but instead in trying to sound smart, said “exploit”, instead. This is an example of why people who are barely literate should avoid public speaking.

I don’t know who people think run charities? Most charities are run by rich or wealthy individuals. Charity organizations are set up as individual organizations. Poor people are the responsibility of society and not one individual!

Though I may not agree with everything Porsha says or does and she may seem a bit blond perhaps she mixed it up with her fathers death that occurred in 1998. I mean her father, grandfather and grandmother died pretty close(less than 2 yrs apart). While this doesn’t excuse it, it probably explains why she picked that year and said it.
