TMZ noted today that R&B singer and reality star Toni Braxton’s foreclosed Duluth home has been up for sale for $1.1 million.

[UPDATED at 3:37 p.m.: I just confirmed from Patel Real Estate Group, the listing agent, that the house is now under contract. That doesn't necessarily mean the deal will close but that puts it off the market for now.]

The home, built in 2001, had been up for sale for more than four months. It has seven bedrooms, six baths, jacuzzi and three-car garage.

If you want more details on the house, Wells Fargo (which owns the property) has the details.

The singer (”Breathe Again,” “Un-Break My Heart”) purchased the property for $2 million in 2004 and had a $1.5 million mortgage.

She filed for bankruptcy protection in 2010 for a second time. The first time was in 1998.

Braxton, when I interviewed her in the spring of 2011 for the WE-TV show “Braxton Family Values” said she was planning to leave Atlanta for Los Angeles. She lost her home in May, 2011.

At the time, she said there’s a school in Los Angeles that could work with her son who has autism. She also planned to leave to “just be closer to work.”

“Braxton Family Values” concluded its second season in September to relatively strong ratings, averaging about 1 million viewers for each original airing. There has been no announcement about a third season.

Last month, VH1 featured Braxton in a “Behind the Music” episode where she talked about her financial woes. The free-spending Braxton said her first bankruptcy filing stemmed from an unfavorable record contract. Her second one came after she had medical problems that forced her to pull out of a series of headlining shows at the Flamingo in Las Vegas and insurance didn’t cover all the costs.

My colleague Tim Eberly helped find documents confirming the sale of Braxton’s property, as well as some history about it.

Seen a bit of the VH1 Behind The Music interview, and she indicated that LA Reid and Babyface were behind the unfavorable recording contract. I think she said she had to sue them to get to a more resonable, standard contract – or something like that. Anyway, the video is worth watching to get the facts,

Hmmm

TLC had the same issue with their producer (when they first started out); I believe their first producer was R&B singer Pebbles (who was married to L A Reid during that time).

Must run in the family – but the lesson learned here is always read (get an attorney) the contract before you sign……….

First, Tony is an ill responsible Gold Digger that just can’t stop spending money. Just as a true Gold Digger out of Control Tony just can’t handle her personal responsibilities.

Just as Whitney Houston spiraled out of control while her friends and family members stood idly by. Like Whitney, Tony is next on the list of self destructing Artists.

Somebody please tell this Air Head before it’s too late that, “ITS ALL HER FAULT”.

The truth will go a long way in helping Tony to see that she’s her own enemy and perhaps save Tony and us all from grieving over her when she self-destructs and kills herself.

For the record: Tony has failed in Marriage, Mother and business and it’s time that someone told Tony the truth.

Tony has a very good contract with La Face Records, but her spending habits didn’t keep pace with her earnings. Usher came out about the same time as Tony with La Face Records and didn’t have a problem.

List of very successful Artists produced by La Face Records:
- Outkast,
- P!nk ,
- TLC,
- Tony Braxton,
- Ciara and
- Usher.

Filed for bankruptcy in 1998, bought a $2 million home 6 years later, filed for bankruptcy AGAIN 6 years after that. Perhaps a $250,000 home would have been a better idea.

I normally dont comment on but i hate ignorance @church love first of all before you display your ignorance to strangers by commenting negatively on people you do not know…At least learn how to spell her name. Its Toni not Tony! Tony is the spelling for males. Second of all how are you comparing her to Whitney she has no known drug issues on health related. Who the hell are you to tell someone they will self destruct and you dont even know her im not even a Toni fan but STFU and get a life! You dont get paid to hate!!!

Another sad LaFace story..In the music business you must write and or produce to generate the serious royalties.Or you can do like the X-Factor judge and sleep with producers and writers in exchange for song writing credit..

Churchy love,

You are one judgemental SOB. Hope your house is in order. It’s one thing to discuss her finances but geez “failed in marriage, mother and business”. That’s a bit harsh considering 50% of marriages fail and you can’t possibly know how she raises her kids, but perhaps you’re her ex-husband posting under a handle.

please be aware she separated from her husband, has single-handedly ruined his family. He lived off his wife, Toni – not the other way around. They have a son with Autism (as do I, so I know that can be challenging). Toni had to have heart surgery and pull out of her Vegas show, which she had a lucrative contract. She was diagnosed with Lupus after that surgery. Subsequently, as the article stated, her insurance did not cover everything. This forced her into a second bankruptcy. I feel for the woman because I have been in a position where I or a family member’s health affected my household budget in a very adverse way. Her husband Kerry has been publicly called a moocher by her own sisters, and I am sure their vantage point is better than mine – or yours! #AutismSpeaks

It seems these Braxton women are just plain old stupid as they are shown in publics view. Toni has let me down as far as not getting her act together when it comes to her money, she has no one else to blame but herself for her money woes. And might I say that Oprah offer Toni good advice back then, but this chick wasn’t receptive of tough love, her mom dad clearly didn’t help by teaching her anything about money.
I mean they had a church with building funds and budgets, hell the church accountant could have helped. Or does the church still exist and neither of them have any sense of budgeting their money? Tamar is only with Vince for the money and the others are just hanger- ons.

Looks like the Braxton Family Values don’t include financial responsibility. You’d think she would have learned something from her FIRST bankruptcy. Or maybe she did… how to get out of paying her bills.

She won a lawsuit against LaFace and later signed a TWENTY MILLION DOLLAR contract. You’re telling me 20 million dollars wasn’t enough to pay for her health bills? Bull. Bad as I hate to say it, she is the textbook case of the Good Book adage, “A fool and his [or her] money will soon part.”

Man ya’ll need to learn to spell and write full sentences. If Toni was to look at all these comments she probably would be laughing at you morons! Personally I think she was a great singer and beautiful woman, everyone has personal problems and the bad economy hasn’t helped either. There is no reason why you people need to bash her, go deal with your own problems (hooked on phonics).

Its time for you to raise your sons, yes she has 2 boys and be a mother to them 24/7 and leave show biz to the new generation.

Good riddance! She’s a common criminal as far as I’m concerned. She has a history of spending like a crazy person and then skipping out on all her debts through bankruptcy. She and people like her are the reason the rest of us have to pay such high prices for most everything we buy. Bankruptcy should be much harder to do and maybe these thieves would stop buying so much “stuff” they have no intention of paying for.

“The kind of deal we got…. was the kind of deal new artists get.” – Lisa Lopes

It’s called renegotiation. All artists get screwed in the beginning. And this culture of family and friends expecting to be along for the ride makes it a very short one for everyone. There’s very little money in music now.

LaFace closed its doors in 2002 (after he said it would remain – yea, right!) when BMG replaced Clive with LA who quickly drove Arista and all the artists that made his career (TLC, Whitney, Toni) into the ground before hopping over to Def Jam.

Kenny/Babyface was never really involved much on the business side in regards to the label. Maybe Toni’s referring to Blackground – never be signed to a label that happens to be owner by your manager.

Churchy Love, before you continue to spew such venom against this woman, please learn how to correctly spell “ill responible”. You sound like an idiot. How are your finances? Let’s see your credir report. You probably got a credit score of 320.

After reading all of the post, I had to say something. I understand that it is hard for everyone, but Toni could have controlled herself with all the frivolous spending she created on her own. She should have made do with the money she received from her lawsuit against La Face Records for a few years until she was able to get her boys to an age where she could return to work and manage both aspects of her life. As for her husband, she knew what she had when she married him. He was apart of a band not getting as much exposure as he wanted so he figured if he married her, he would be set. Toni and her ex-husband are not the ones who will suffer, it’s their children. She has 2 beautiful sons who need her attention and financial stability. As for her home being on the market, maybe now, she will find something more realistic and put her kids in it and live. People don’t understand when you are not providing a stable home it affects the children more than anything. Once she is able to bounce back from her financial woes and able to get a record contract or Las Vegas show contract to keep her making money, she should get someone in her life that will look out for her best financial interests.

Also I started out watching their show on TLC, but quickly became discouraged because that is not the elegant Toni I was used to. Her sisters make her look like a train wreck, especially Tamar. Tamar makes Toni and Vince look so bad. I really wish Toni the best of luck with getting back on track. Unlike “Churchy Love”, I don’t see Toni spiraling out of control to self destruction. She can get her life back on track and be the star that we are used to seeing with those hits that made us love her so.

Thank you….for correction…reading that Tony comment was painful lol ……it’s Toni for the last umpteen years….. Guess she’s used to a certain lifestyle and its hard to go on a budget but I agree a more affordable scaled down home would’ve made sense….she was really good but that was two bankruptcies, two kids, one divorce, two health issues, etc ago….lets pray she stays healthy more then any of the material or preachy condemnation…
