Simon Cowell may have a guaranteed third season pick up of his show “The X Factor” but there’s no doubt he’s getting beat soundly in ratings by “The Voice.”
Not that either show is getting all that much buzz in this day and age of too many singing shows.
“The Voice” season average so far: 11.89 million and 4.3 rating for 18-49 on Tuesdays, and 12.44 million and a 4.6 rating 18-49 on Mondays. In this day and age, those are great numbers.
“The X Factor” has averaged 8.6 million viewers and a 3 rating for 18-49 on Thursdays, and 8.3 million and 3.1 rating 18-49 on Wednesdays. Those are way down from a year ago, partially because of the competition from “The Voice.”
Britney Spears has not helped ratings in any tangible way and I don’t see her earning her $15 million keep. Demi Lovato is definitely more into it, more competitive, more in line with the program. I hope they give Mario Lopez more of the primary teleprompters and leave Khloe Kardashian back stage asking obvious questions to the contestants. (”So how do you feel?”)
I haven’t watched enough of “The Voice” to deem if any of the final 20 are going to be stars. I’m less impressed with this year’s finals crew on “The X Factor” than last year’s though the groups are far better (not that that’s saying much.)
With the election pushing “The Voice” into later in the week, the two shows will literally being going head to head. Good luck with the DVRs! My DVR, by the way, is automatically killing “The X Factor” over “The Voice” for whatever reason.

Nicki Minaj, in an upcoming three-part E! special starting Sunday, talks about how Mariah Carey has “met her match” with Nicki’s presence. The special was taped during her little tiff with Mariah. So game on if you’re into that sort of thing.

Season 11 finalist Colton Dixon is opening for Third Day. He will be joining them at the Fox Theatre April 13, 2013.

Kelly Clarkson’s “Greatest Hits” album is out Nov. 19. I like her new duet with Vince Gill “Don’t Rush” more than her latest single “Catch My Breath.”

And in case you missed Carrie Underwood’s opening with Brad Paisley at last week’s CMAs (starting at the 3:30 point after Georgia’s Jason Aldean), here it is. And yes, even they are doing it “Gangnam Style!” Plus, Carrie learns what “Motorboatin’ is.

Rumored wish list to replace Sharon Osborne on “America’s Got Talent,” according to TMZ: Shannen Doherty, Leann Rimes and Carly Simon. Carly Simon? That would have been a great move… in 1977! And Doherty? Ugh.

Deirdre: I must say “OMG” doesn’t even begin to cover “WD”!!!!! Glad Lori’s gone, but what a bizarre way to do it! And all that “save my baby – kill me” stuff – I don’t think I’d want to bring a baby into this crazy world they’re trapped in now. And how did she think they’d be able to feed and care for one without it’s mother? Sad to see T-bone (is that correct?) gone – not a lot of background on his character, but he was always there for them and a very solid guy. Just wish they’d shot him instead of leaving him there to suffer thru all that, then rise up as a walker!
And what was in that whiskey to make Andrea decide to hang around this bizarre town?
This show never ceases to amaze me.

Sam, WD almost never ceases to amaze me. I half expected Lori to die at some point and I think they tried hard to make her more likable this season. I admit to tearing up, especially when she was saying goodbye to Carl. And T-Dog was a hero in the end. He did what he did because they were out of bullets, he was a dead man anyway and it was the only way for Carol to get out. But where is Carol?????

I’m worried about Carol because I think that was the scarf she had on her head that they picked up. They did say “we lost Tdog (thx for name) and Carol”. Hopefully, she’s just hiding in a room somewhere and will turn up next week.
Where the hell did all the walkers come from – did all those get in thru the fence that the unknown prisoner opened with his axe? Man they were spread out all over the place. It was scary – them coming at the ladies and Carl from all directions. Don’t know how they didn’t smell all the blood with the baby and just come into that room, since the door didn’t close properly.
I agree it was sad with the baby and Carl/Mom. Still glad she’s gone. The baby will not be a good addition – just more trouble – to me. No way to keep it quiet, and take up someone who will be needed for fighting. Our little band of regulars is getting smaller and smaller. Better not mess with Glenn!

One more thing – that sickening dead-deer thing – I thought the walkers ate only living things, so why did they go after the poor dead deer? Looked like it had already been ravaged by walkers from what I could see (couldn’t bear to look at it but a second)

Sam-A, didn’t Lori point at her previous C-section scar?
She must have known all along that she was doomed – if your first pregnancy ends in a Caesarean the ones following usually do too. So without proper medical care, she would die. And someone – in this case poor Carl – had to kill her properly. (Or did he?? Maybe she’ll be back, like that first kid’s walker mother who kept coming back for her family. One can hope!)

She did point out the previous scar. It seems there might have been a possibility, even slight, that she could survive – especially if Hershel got to her quickly, so not sure why she was so adamant that she was going to die – though in the end, she actually did.
Love this show, but it drives me mad sometimes!

Herschel was trapped by walkers. No way he could get to Lori and she was already bleeding profusely. She knew there was no time. I’ve read that Carol’s whereabouts will not be revealed for awhile…alive or dead.
I think the guy who opened the gates and turned on the sirens to attract walkers used the deer to to attract them as well. Not sure I understand all the rules of zombie-dom. Some move pretty fast, some don’t and the ones who haven’t eaten for a long time lurk. It was a lurker who got Herschel. Always look for a head wound before stepping over a zombie!!!!!!

Thanks, Deirdre! I’ll make sure to check the heads of every zombie I plan on stepping over!! I think today’s conversation speaks to just how well done this show is – we’re really involved! But that’s what I want in a show – one I can hardly wait week to week, and discuss thoroughly with other watchers – guess that’s what I love about our little “Idol Home” – there are people with whom you can discuss most of the shows you happen to watch! And then there’s Mercedes’ movie reviews for us film lovers!

This weekend provides a dilemma. Skyfall with the luscious Daniel Craig as James Bond or Lincoln without the luscious Daniel Craig but with epic credentials. hmmmm.

Hey y’all! Late night, huh? I’m very happy with the outcome, but also happy that we can now go back to early Christmas commercials on TV instead of political ads, and that my FB news feed will calm down and be fun to read again!
Deirdre from yesterday evening- I agree completely on Gangnam Style! It’s fun and catchy and never fails to make me smile!
Still haven’t gotten into XF. Sigh. From what y’all have been saying, I may just skip it altogether.. should I? Will I be missing out?

Jenny: where Gangnam Style is fun because it doesn’t take itself too seriously, XF is the same type of “hot mess” but it takes itself far too seriously.
Here is a question for you, because I R T3H DUM: why is it “seriously” and not “serious”?

Guess I’ll gravitate more towards The Voice tonight. I like the crop of talent. Stayed up too late last night, but I’m happy with the outcome. #FORWARD

I stayed up too late too. Liked the outcome with some local things around the nation, but didn’t care about the other outcome.
I’ll probably avoid both shows, as I have aliens to fight
