Star 94’s Cindy Simmons has her second daughter Luna James

Cindy Simmons (second to left) is a breast-cancer survivor and is on the current cover of Best Self magazine.

Star 94 morning host Cindy Simmons had her second daughter Luna James Monday at Northside Hospital.

She tweeted yesterday: “Didn’t sleep a wink…too in love watching my new little girl sleep. Luna James born yesterday! 7pds 11ounces 21 inches. #ProudMomma”

She kept a baby blog on the Star 94 website if you want more details of her pregnancy.

Her oldest daughter is Lily Jane, born on July 22, 2005.

Simmons got married last year for a second time to Eric Carnell. (You can see wedding photos here.)

Her agent Norm Schrutt told me last week he wasn’t sure when she’d be back on air but he said her break won’t be especially long, especially with new co-host Jimmy Alexander joining the crew soon.

Simmons has been a morning host with Star for more than three years and an employee with the station for eight years.

And here’s a challenge for folks who like to make gratuitously nasty, ANONYMOUS comments on this blog, I dare you to actually identify who you are. I’m fairly sure if you were forced to show your face, you’d be far less inclined to make said nasty comments.

Details on her new co-host here. And no, I still have no idea why Ray Mariner was fired in May.

Ray Mariner carried that show, what a joke that she is the one who is still on the air.

WOW. Is that her in the middle of that picture? She’s no beauty but that did not do her justice. She’s so vain I bet she flipped when she saw that.

Luna ????

To be humorous someone always chimes in and says, “WHO?”. However, in this case I can be quite honest and say, “WHO?”.

Congratulations to Cindy and all of your family, great news.

Looking forward to hearing the new co-host since Cindy needs someone with real talent to banter with back and forth. Last few months have been painful with that producer on trying to always make it about him.

Glad that mother and baby are fine, but “Luna” is a rather unfortunate name isn’t it? Kids are going to be calling her Luna-C and Luna-tic for years and years.

Just sayin’…

And by the way Rodney, when are you going to mention that Mixmaster Mark has left TRG? Why did he leave? What’s he going to do? When TRG talks about him now, all they do is trash him as a lispy loser.

Luna? LOL Somebody’s mom watched or read too much Harry Potter. In years to come Luna will be grateful her mom didn’t name her after Nymphadora Tonks or Bellatrix LaStrange.

Congrats on a healthy baby to her.

Other things better about Ray;

Ray Mariner is also better looking than her. She’s a 4 or 5, he’s a 7 or 8. Ray is funny, Cindy is not. I’m also not aware of Ray being charged with a DUI.

How can I "show my face"...

…on a blog so that my comments are not considered “gratuitously nasty”?

Couple more years and a couple more kids and she’ll just be living off the child support from baby daddies

@SAWB: If you had read the article, you would not need to ask “Who?” Rodney has laid it all out for you so you should be able to figure it out.

Ray Mariner once ate a 72 oz steak in one hour. He spent the first 45 minutes making love to the waitress.

Now we know why she hates Blogs, probably hate taking photos too. Cindy is indeeed meant for radio, annoying voice but it carries the Show. Check out the wedding pics. Lily and Luna?

[...] That man is Jimmy Alexander, a co-host on the Jack Diamond morning show in D.C. at Mix 107.3. Last Friday, Alexander signed a contract to co-host a morning show with Cindy Simmons on Star 94, a rival of Q100. (Alexander’s start date is not set yet but he should be on air before the end of the year. Cindy herself just had a baby 9n Monday.) [...]

wow – you guys are really mean. What is wrong with the way she looks? I agree she has a grating voice for radio, and that is unfortunate, but she seems like a nice person who has been through a lot and is finally happy. I can imagine how bad your day must be to rip this woman to shreds. She had a baby – that’s a great time, and worthy of a congratulations.

I like the name Luna – it is not that unusual and I remember having a couple of Lunas in my classes as a kid, and I am 50, so it was once more common. Also, it is nice to see names other than the 30 different ways to spell Koutney, Madison, and tiffany,

Sorry, Luna is a weird name…. But to each his own, as they say. Luna means “moon”. Why would you name your kid “Moon”? Other kids will call her Luna-tic, Luna-C. Unfortunate for the kid, just for the Mom to give the kid a nane she thinks is cool.
