‘Idol’ bits: ‘American Idol’ returns for a 12th season January 16, 2013

phillip-phillips-cd-cover-p

‘American Idol” is set to return for its 12 season on January 16 and 17.

That’s a pretty typical launch date. The first night, a Wednesday, will be two hours while the second will be one. It’s less than three months away!

***
And here’s Phillip Phillips singing the National Anthem last night before Game One of the World Series. He kept it in his lane and did a very respectable job. His single “Home” has sold two million downloads. Impressive! Only two other coronation singles went double platinum: David Cook’s “Time of My Life” and Kelly Clarkson’s “A Moment Like This.”

Simon Cowell wants Carmen Electra as a judge for “America’s Got Talent” to replace Sharon Osbourne, according to the New York Post.

I don’t want to see “Cloud Atlas” – even though I love Tom Hanks and like most of the rest of the cast, I firmly believe I’d be one on the “hate it” side.

Guess the surfer movie is the one G. Butler almost drowned on.

And let me be the first to say “T G I F”! Looks like a perfect weekend ahead. High of 70° tomorrow, lower Sunday – real, true FALL weather.

I sure hope that Hurricane Sandy gets the hell outta Dodge before next Thursday – they’re showing the wide circles covering NC still on Wednesday, and I’m headed for the mountains Thursday. Nothing more boring than being stuck in the house in Highlands because the weather sux!

Oh man! Did I ever!!!!

To my fellow Lost watchers. Breaking Bad is the kind of show that keeps you guessing much like Lost. If you haven’t seen it, I highly recommend it. Of course, it is nothing like Lost at all but it gives me the same feeling. Hubby and I keep coming back to it. What did that mean? Was that what I think it was? Who would do that? The characters are fascinating and the story keeps you guessing and wondering and on the edge of your seat.

XF has a new promo out about supporting your favorite judge, proving beyond a shadow of a doubt something we all knew to be true. XF is ALL about the judges!!!!!!

All for show in the “favorite judge” thing. The logistics and producer assistants will be running popularity checks through facebook, youtube, twitter, etc. – and giving the Judges the info about who they should keep if possible, within their powers, in a pinch.

I think the talent is too strong this year, for any of the over-25’s to make the top 5. They are good singers, but will not hold against the popularity factor of the competition.

Deirdre: Did you watch “Last Resort” last night? It was pretty good, several pretty big things happened. I’ll stick with it for now. Just don’t know how long they can keep this storyline going.

Another scintilating day here at the Idol spot. Hope something exciting happens soon!

Don’t know how exciting Sam-A will find this, but… we decided “Tripod” was too harsh an alias for our now three-legged Miss Kitty. Her new street name is Hershey, in honor of Hershel on “WD”.

I counted the audience cheering and applauding 4 times throughout Phillip’s performance of the NA. I think it’s a big deal for anyone, even more so for someone who is just starting out in their career.

Home is actually the best selling Idol coronation song of all time. Kelly Clarkson & David Cook did not reach Double Platinum status.

Yesterday I bought the BOOK “Cloud Atlas” to see it it can help me make sense out of the movie.

Hershey, alias Miss Kitty, had her stiched checked today and it all looked good. Thanks, JT,

(RE; X-Factor top 16 contestant) — David Correy’s birth mother comes forward
by Nick Roman on Sun October 28, 2012 at 01:46 am

Reality TV can actually do some good in the world … just ask “X Factor” finalist David Correy who found his birth mother after 25 years of separation … all thanks to the show.

The 26-year-old David — who is in the final 16 — told the judges during his first audition that he was singing for his birth mother — whom he’d never met — who gave him up for adoption from Brazil as a baby.

Sources close to David tell TMZ when his episode of “X” aired in Brazil, a woman named Luciene Lima recognized the baby pics shown in David’s segment and had a gut feeling he was hers.

We’re told Luciene went through the Brazilian court system to trace her adoption — and her findings led her back to David. Luciene, not knowing how to reach out to her long lost son, contacted the local media.

Our sources say a local paper was able to track David down in the U.S. and tell him about his mother.

We’re told a DNA test has not been performed, but so far everything matches: the birth certificate, the orphanage David came from and the timeline.

A close friend of David’s tells TMZ, “David is so happy — and he can’t wait to meet her for the first time.”

Yeah, Mercedes. Glad the Kitty is doing bettery now. Hershey is too much like a delicious chocolate bar – to honor Hershel, how about Hershette or Hershelley? Don’t remember your mentioning it, but I saw the “Walllflower” film with Emma Watson this weekend, and I really liked it. It was very sad, and I did cry in several places, but thought it was a really good movie. Emma was adorable, and the boy starring was adorable as well.

I hope to watch “WD” tonight, so just warn me if anyone makes any telling remarks. Can’t wait. I think just about the scariest moment of the whole series for me was when the riot gear clad walkers came out – horrifying looking. A little like the Pharoah’s guard clad skeletons in “The Mummy”.

Morning!

I haven’t seen WD either and probably won’t until tomorrow afternoon.

I hope everyone had a great weekend. I spent a lot of time cleaning leaves out of the pool. We will probably be doing that everyday for a while until this wind calms down. My dogs love autumn. They wander around the backyard competing with the squirrels for all the hickory nuts that have fallen off the trees and chase swirling leaves.

Anyone know why Kelly is appearing that (yet another)country music show this week. Wasn’t her many-award-winning duet last year?

Deirdre

Kelly is a friend of country music, she has made more than one country recording AND, isn’t the guy she’s madly in love with at the moment the son(or step-son) of Reba McIntyre?

Morning, everyone.

I fell asleept on Revenge last night. Was just too tired to sit up and put my head down on the back of the chair, and I woke up in the middle of 666 Park. Thank goodness for dvr. I understand there was a surprise development on Revenge. I will watch it first thing tonight.

I’ve done that, Harriett!

RE Kelly and Country music..she also had a Country version of Mr Know-It-All come out this year that was very popular. Plus I think it’s her manager who is Reba’s husband. Yep, I think she has enough country cred to be included in any Country award show.

That’s a good story about David Correy’s birth mother. I have not been able to help but wonder how all the talk of the birth mother has made the mother who raised him feel. He has not said anything about his parents’ support for this quest. I hope they do support it, for i am sure there will be hurt feelings otherwise.

And, D, I have done it more that one time!

Oh, and I hope by the live shows someone has gotten to Mr. Correy and told him he has to cover his behind. He’s wearing his pants a la the “new” fashion with the belt about pubic bone high and the entire behind hanging out (usually covered only by underwear)

I was just thinking with Kelly, that I recently read a magazine interview where she said people kept telling her she should “go country”, but she had no intention of doing so – she loved the kind of music she’s been doing all along. That’s why I was wondering about the appearance.

My son just told me that he is an Emmy Award winner. Apparently, the engineering dept. of Netflix won an Emmy Award for innovation in broadcasting. He promised to send a picture of himself holding the Emmy.

Morning!

LOL! Unfortunately, they already had the award ceremony and, if the engineers at Netflix had been invited as a group, I probably would have had to wrestle his wife for the chance to go. As it is, he’s going to a launch party in L.A. next week for Netflix’s version of Arrested Development. Unfortunately(again) Netflix has limited attendance to employees only. My son’s wife is NOT happy!

Getting back on topic, Christina Aguilera claims that she doesn’t watch any of the singing competition shows including her own. She said that she watched a whole episode of Idol once and Simon Cowell was acting like(I quote here) a d**k and she doesn’t think that is the way to go with wannabe singers.

Hope all is well up North, RoHo! On “Today”, they showed various Jersey shore towns, and the main streets are all now sandy beaches. What a terrible cleanup ahead for these poor folks.

Anyone else been watching that crane up 90 stories in the middle of Manhattan? Man, if it falls, or that part that’s hanging down and blowing in the wind does, there’s gonna be some major damage, and people could be killed or badly hurt ! They said the big hanging piece could be blown several blocks away if it breaks free, and hit in a place not prepared for it.
