‘Idol’ bits: Simon steamed over ‘X Factor’/baseball fiasco, Phil Phillips to do National Anthem at World Series

Simon Cowell is understandably peeved by what happened Wednesday night when the Giants/Cardinals NCLS game was delayed by rain. At first, Fox was told the rain would go on well past primetime. So it began airing “X Factor.” But the rain subsided and word was that the game was going to return.

So “The X Factor” got rudely cut off mid show – but the game didn’t come back as quickly as expected. So for a period of time, Fox even aired a repeat of “The Mindy Project.”  On the West Coast, they were supposed to air a repeat but ran the new episode for a period of time, before pulling it for the repeat.

“It what’s known as a total f up,” Cowell Tweeted.

Here’s what Fox just sent in terms of Tuesday’s programming:

On Tuesday, Oct. 23, the New FOX Tuesday comedies keep the laughs coming with all-new episodes of RAISING HOPE (8:00-8:30 PM ET/PT), BEN AND KATE (8:30-9:00 PM ET/PT) and NEW GIRL (9:00-9:30 PM ET/PT). An all-new special one-hour episode of THE X FACTOR featuring the conclusion of the “Judges’ Homes” round airs during a special, extended prime from 9:30-10:30 PM ET/PT.

What a mess, especially since this was the top 17 reveal. Tara Simon, the local vocal coach, did not make the cut.

***

Despite skeptics such as Jennifer Hudson and Steven Tyler, Nigel Lythgoe insists the Nicki-Mariah feud is no ratings ploy.

***

Jennifer Hudson was a guest judge on last night’s “Project Runway.” I won’t say who won in case you haven’t seen it.

***

Despite proclaiming her admiration earlier this year for Ron Paul and being a Republican at heart, Kelly Clarkson plans to vote for Pres. Barack Obama, partially because he supports gay marriage, she told the U.K. Daily Star.

***

Since Fox is airing the World Series, it’s doing its usual cross-promotion by having winner Phillip Phillips sing the National Anthem for game one. I’m not sure if this is exactly the song for him. We can only hope he keeps it simple and doesn’t sound too strained on the high notes.

Start on a low note, Phillip!! Really low!

Of course SC would be upset as he has a tremendous dislike of two American items, country music and baseball. It’s all about cricket, not baseball in the UK. You think soccer is boring, just try cricket. Jiminy, I was there for a year and about went crazy! Simon C can either live with it or go back to the UK. Spoiled brat millionaire!

Dum-Bass. Did you even try to watch XF that night. First they say the show won’t be on…then they start running the show, then they stopped the show about halfway through and put on The Mindy Project. FUBAR!

Rodney picked the right picture to go with this blog entry that is for sure. I think it’s kind of funny, but then most network bungling is funny.

Can’t picture pp’s National Anthem being better than Jessica’s performance for the NBA Finals. A talent like her is made for these type of events.

I like Kelly no matter who she supports. However…………….so glad she’s making sensible choices in her political life.

How can you screw up an already screwed up show like X Factor? I have tried 3 different times to watch XF and get hooked on it, and I can only hang with it about 15 mins. max. I didn’t like The Voice at first, but the second time I tried it got attached to it and like it pretty well now. As for the XF it’s nothing more than a scripted talent reality show. Too much extraneous crap going on. Give me a musical talent show or a reality show( I like very few of them) but not one that’s a combination. Besides the judges are ALL nauseating. Hurry up AI, you are needed to fill the void!

Big deal…..His garbage show did not air in it’s entirety. As if his block head hair style needs any more exposure.

Next episode to air – maybe a repeat of the disjointed now complete?? At least will be up against The Voice again.

Voice seems to be dragging-on a little too long in the back-stories of tears jeers and fears. Also losing some good talent that the save didn’t save,

Take another look at the Cece Frey vs Paige Thomas battle on X-Factor –
yeah…. bet the producers loved it when they seen this developing.

Cece is the better singer, that’s what I hear too. She is going to have a “likeability” issue no doubt – but she has the burning desire and a voice to back-up her bold attitude.

I think the talent is way above what they had last season, overall. I think the 3 young girls, Carly, Diamond and Beatrice are all amazing for their age. Arin is o.k., but nothing extra-ordinary – but as we know, it all morphs into a popularity contest as it progresses.

Morning!

G mentioned Jessica Sanchez and her AMAZING voice and here she is with a first release(in the Philippines) with Api.Di.Ap(or something like that Fergie’s group). This is a really catchy, well done dance tune that sort of reminds me a teeny bit of Gangnam Style without all the craziness.

“GANGNAM STYLE, huh? Yes, by all means let’s name something after street gangs. I’m sure they love and relish that. What other honors can we bestow on killers, robbers, rapists, etc. ? Next thing you know there will be awards shows on TV for “gangster music”.

Sometimes, if you don’t have a clue as to what you are speaking about, it’s best just to remain silent. Gangnam as in the Gangnam District of Seoul Korea. It’s by a Korean artist and done in Korean.

Dum-Bass…..my son tells me that Gangnam in Seoul is like Buckhead in Atlanta. Gangnam style means young, hip, with money. Has nothing to do with gangs.

While Jessica’s release and video is not my cup of brandy, I think her voice is good on the song.

TV Guide >>> “After Wednesday’s X Factor was interrupted by the rain-delayed San Francisco Giants and St. Louis Cardinals baseball game, Fox has announced the conclusion of the “Judges’ Homes” round will air Tuesday, Oct. 23 at 8/7c, when the entire episode will be re-aired.” However, I seen another “update’ that said it would air from 8:30 to 9:30 Central time on Tuesday — so dough no what the real scoop is.

Check-out the new “explicit” version of “The Boys” by Nicki Minaj, featuring Cassie – with lyrics. You can scope-it-out on Youtube. This is why some people I know can’t believe they would put her as a Judge on Idol.

The official, somewhat tamed version is what most see, unless they are “in the know” about the explicit versions she does. Synth-Pop-Hop does have an audience, just hope we don’t have to listen to a lot of it on Idol.

Part of me is just cheering FOX for once for doing this to Simon Cowell. Sorry but people are more than likely going to be more entertained by a baseball game than some fake celebrity ‘talent’ competition.

Have tons of shows to catch up on after a week away from home…finally saw season ender of “Major Crimes” and loved it. So happy “The Closer” lives on in this form.

Enjoyed recorded “SNL” this am. Bruno Mars unexpectedly good.

Deirdre, on its current “Bullseye”, in the #10 spot, Entertainment Weekly has a pic of Ben Affleck with the caption “The line for Oscar noms starts behind this guy.” Agree! Less fancy bullsete position: Brad Pitt’s Chanel Ad (”more confusing than ‘The Tree of Life’”), which was brilliantly parodied on SNL last night.

Morning!

It had to happen I guess. What with the show’s age, demographic and dropping ratings, American Idol’s ad rates have fallen by 32%.

Finally watched first “WD” – while bloodier (ie grosser) than usual, it was really good, especially the very end – Uh Oh! Earlier, when Hershel was bitten, I immediately thought “wonder if they cut his leg off, it would stop the effect”. Hope it does, I like Hershel. But can’t imagine how they’ll get the leg closed.

Hopefully will be able to watch #2 earlier this week!

Mercedes: I think the two Brad P Chanel ads I’ve seen are inane. “Ellen” show did parodies last week – really funny. Him standing there with a grizzly-haired face and stringy, greasy hair wouldn’t sell me anything! And I loved the ender for “Major Crimes” too. Guess the boy will remain a part of the cast. I love this cast, and never have understood why they didn’t win any of the “ensemble” awards several groups give out. They’re the best one as far as I’m concerned!

And yeah, what is up with guys with long greasy hair? The Zaxby’s ad with Clay Matthews and his unwashed locks hardly sparks my appetite.

I keep expecting his hair to drip like an old car engine.

Sam-A

Agree! I have no idea who Clay M is, but he’s among the “unclean” dudes around now. Just how long does it take a guy to shampoo his hair? Just a matter of cleanliness and good grooming. Even when “Sonny Crockett” (Miami Vice) grew his hair longer after season 2, it was still clean and shiny!

If Brad P thinks he’s being sexy, he’s waaaay wrong in my book.

Looks like, in WD, that Lori and Rick haven’t been getting along too well in all those months we were left out of. Seemed in show 1 to be at odds. And that gal with the two walkers chained to her – those are the two grosses faces by far – guess she removed all their teeth, and in one case, the whole lower jaw! When they were talking about riding in circles for months, I don’t know why they wouldn’t have headed for the mountains. Way too much incline for the walkers to get up, and fairly sparsely populated, at least all around Highlands NC area. Going up there in two weeks, and I’ll scope it out, in case a real zombie catastrophe happens and we all survive and need a place to go! They’d have slain all the walkers up there by this time! Funny how real that show actually seems!

Is anyone else (Pitchy???) here brave enough to admit to watching “Secret Princes”? I actually stumbled on it as there’s very little to watch on Saturday night at 10. It was really a sweet little show. Two of the guys were adorable, one a Lord (UK) and the other a Prince (Of the Bourbons of Spain). It took place in ATL, and the guys were all 4 very flattering to Atlanta, and the women here. They never said a bad thing, but every bar or restaurant they walked into, kept remarking about how pretty the women were. I actually really enjoyed it, and from the last show Sat night, looks like the two cuties may have actually found true love. Lucky ladies.

Back for lunch. Since Jennel Garcia is not in school and not working, wonder if she can cook. She could fix lunch and I could get her in a band.

I see that Idol has dropped ad prices about 30% for the coming season. That closely reflects the loss of audience. Wouldn’t surprise me if there’s some backlash sometime during the coming season for having Nicki in a chair.

Dolly Parton says she would like to mentor/coach on “The Voice”. That doesn’t mean she has been considered or offered anything. Cee Lo and Xtina are both going to take a break from the show I hear, next season. Dolly will be 67 next January, and while she’s a Country Icon, she’s well beyond a current hot & happenin’ artist to the younger demographic.

The Voice should be on tonight and tomorrow night at 8 eastern/7 central time – as do or die duets continue.
