Season 11 runner-up Jessica Sanchez is getting into the acting game with a role on Fox’s “Glee.”

She’s the first “Idol” alum that I know of to get a part on that show.

TVLine says she may be a love interest for Finn in what is being dubbed a “recurring role,” which means it could go on multiple episodes.

Mediabase 24/7 chart update

Top 40:

Maroon 5’s ‘One More Night” is no. 1. Nicki Minaj’s “Pound the Alarm” falls to 22. Phillip Phillips’ “Home” edges up to 24.

Hot AC:

Maroon 5 is No. 1 here, too. Phillips is at No. 5.

Country:

Carrie Underwood extends her  incredible seven-year streak of top 2 hits on the country charts to 16 in a row, going back to “Jesus, Take the Wheel” in 2005. Her latest single “Blown Away” is now No. 1 on Mediabase 24/7 and Billboard. Casey James’ “Crying on a Suitcase” remains at No. 24. Lauren Alaina garners her third top 40 hit with “18 Inches” peaking in at No. 39.

Christian AC

Jason Castro’s ‘Only a Mountain” is holding at No. 21.

Mike Darnell, long time reality guru on Fox TV, told Hollywood Reporter that he wasn’t perturbed by the Nicki-Mariah feud, that it created “buzz” for the show, even if, in my mind, it’s not the type of buzz that will necessarily draw people to the show but even turn some folks off.

I’ve only watched maybe 2.5 episodes of “The Voice” so far this year, but it’s doing very well in the ratings, killing “Dancing With the Stars” among younger viewers, even if DWTS draws more overall fans. Last night, it pulled a 4.6 18-49 rating vs. 2.1 for the DWTS results show. “The Voice” drew 12 million viewers, while DWTS drew about 13 million. It’s also soundly beating “The X Factor,” which I’m actually watching in full because I like it better.

Paula Abdul enjoyed her stint on DWTS as a guest judge this week, telling US magazine: “I hope you could see how much fun I was having. It felt like home and was very natural.”

Scotty McCreery’s Christmas album is out now. Scotty is splitting his time touring and going to college. Impressive!

Kelly Clarkson’s greatest hits album comes out next month. She’s the first “Idol” alum to have a greatest hits album! This cover looks kind of lame, though:

I actually liked Pierce Brosnan as Bond, because he allowed me to forget about that other guy. No need to say his name, he is not worthy of mention.

Pitchy, be sure to remind your daughter to watch “PLL” Halloween show next week.

Jennifer Hudson was guest judge on Project Runway finale – and she chose wisely: best designer, Dmitri, won.

OOOpppss, so sorry, Deirdre… but wasn’t it already revealed in TV Guide? Still, mea culpa.

All the designers did really well, though.

For all the Michael Johns fans on the blog: mj has a page with a video interview plus a performance when Michael was part of a group of performers honoring Steve Van Zandt of the E Street Band, The Sopranos and Netflix’s Lillihammer. Here’s the link to the page:

I’ll be watching (finally) “Walking Dead” this evening. Can’t wait! I almost skipped “Last Resort” last night but decided on another chance, and darned if it didn’t go way up on the entertainment scale. Lots of action for a change – really good last night.

D: Thanks for the Michael Johns link – will watch it when it’s quiet around here at lunch hour. I’m most definitely a FAN! After Kelly and Clay, he’s far and away my favorite contestant of all seasons.

Fans of movies that make you think: there’s two opening today, “The Sessions” and “Seven Psychopaths”.

“The Sessions” is based on a newspaper article, written by poet/journalist Mark O’Brien. He got polio at the age of six, was paralyzed, and spent the rest of his life in the contraption known as “iron lung”, which helped him breathe. Nearing 40, O’Brien wanted to lose his virginity. He hired a sex surrogate and wrote about the experience.

These factual events are turned into a moving drama/comedy about love growing in unexpected ways and places. John Hawkes, usually seen as creepy bad guys (”Winter’s Bone”, “Martha Marcy May Marlene) is surprisingly engaging as O’Brien, and Helen Hunt gives a brave (naked!) performance as the surrogate. William H. Macy delights as a Catholic priest who encourages his paralyzed parishoner to “go for it”.

Enjoy Walking Dead, Sam. I already know that you will.

Thanks for the review, Mercedes.

I love William H Macy – he’s so good at what he does. And how refreshing to depict a catholic priest who actually has human feelings for a guy in such a sad state and wanting to be “normal” for just once.

I want to see the “Wallflowers” movie this weekend – it looks very cute (and I like some of the “teen” character movies, ie “Big A”, and a couple of the Michael Cera films), and I love the Harry Potter films so very much, definitely want to support the young stars in their future endeavors.
