Anna Nicole Smith has been dead for five years but she left an indelible mark on the pop culture landscape. So Lifetime is doing a movie of the week about her under the working title “The Anna Nicole Smith Story,” to be shot in Atlanta from Oct. 15 to Nov. 9, according to the Georgia Department of Economic Development.
Actress Agnes Bruckner (”Private Practice,” “The Bold and the Beautiful”) has been cast to play Smith, according to Deadline.com.
Smith, a former Playboy Playmate, became a newsworthy after she married an 89-year-old oil tycoon J. Howard Marshall who was 63 years her elder. After he died, his family fought her over the inheritance for years. She briefly had an E! reality show but in 2007, died of what was deemed a drug overdose at age 39.
Virginia Madsen (”Sideways”) will play Anna’s mom. Martin Landau (”Crimes and Misdemeanors”) will play the oil tycoon who weds Smith.
A straight-to-DVD film about Smith’s life was released in 2009 starring Willa Ford as Smith.
