Kellie Pickler announced today on Anderson Cooper that she’s joining a new record label, Black River Entertainment.
The small label also features Craig Morgan, Sarah Darling, vocal trio Due West and country newcomer Glen Templeton.
Her third album “100 Proof,” didn’t do particularly well, selling 1/10th the copies of her first album which led to Sony Nashville dropping her.
- TMZ is riding this Nicki-Mariah feud to page view heaven. Steven Tyler thinks the battle is a fraud, echoing Cee Lo Green last week.
“Idol” sent a statement out Friday trying to allay fears that anything is amiss.
Let’s move on. But we won’t as long as TMZ keeps feeding us.
- Phillip Phillips is part of the Star 94 Jingle Jam at Gwinnett Arena Dec. 13 with Jason Mraz, Grace Potter and Alex Clare, among others. More details here.
- “X Factor” top 24 to be named on Wednesday’s episode. The judges’ home rounds, which will pare it down to 17, will air next week. Then there’s a week off for the World Series. Live episodes start Nov. 1. And tonight, we start with “The Voice” battle rounds, where judges will be able to swipe contestants from other judges.

Good for Kellie.
I think the Idol thing is a little of everything. One woman is crazy, the other woman is crazier, and the extra promotion helps a lot.
X-Factor, November 1. Thanks Rodney. Is anyone else watching that show, aside from the faithful?

Didn’t Simon try to get the World Series postponed? At least that was the rumor. He was annoyed that his crowning glory would be shunted to the side to make room for baseball…of all things!
I think both Mariah and Nicki are the negative connotation of diva and, while the publicity about it may be over-the-top, I’m pretty sure they annoy the crap out of each other.

The video of the Nicki/Mariah “discussion” indicates it wasn’t all fake – I doubt that Urban would have ageed to fake his discomfort with the situation. Not that it can’t be put in the past and was way overblown and outright lied-about by some sensationalist factors of the media – but it was a spat.
Here’s a repost from another earlier thread.
News for guys – easy on the eyes: ( all 18 or older)
From the Voice:
Adrianna Louise — Devyn DeLoera — Sylvia Yacoub — Domo — Cassadee Pope
From X-Factor:
Jennel Garcia
Ce Ce Frey ( I know, she’s over the top, paints herself with leopard dots, etc., but ……..)
Paige Thomas – pretty, physically fit, just needs to grow some hair on the sides of her head.

I hope that part of the judges’ houses round is this week, because there’s no reason for the X Factor to have a three hour “Green Mile” type show like American Idol does. There’s no reason for American Idol to have one either.
To add to the people who think that the Nicki and Mariah feud is fake, Mariah Carey’s husband Nick Cannnon, who blames the whole thing on Fox, and a move to get ratings. http://www.eonline.com/news/352058/nick-cannon-dishes-on-mariah-carey-nicki-minaj-beef-quot-i-wasn-t-concerned-for-my-wife-s-safety-quot?cmpid=sn-000000-twitterfeed-365-topstories&utm_source=eonline&utm_medium=twitterfeed&utm_campaign=twitterfeed_topstories&%3Fcmpid=eonline-twitter&dlvrit=48939

I’m really happy for Kellie. She was one of my favorites not just for her voice but she seemed real.
@Seth. Jennel is a lock IMO and Paige might make the top 3 girls but I doubt CeCe does. It depends if XF has an under 16 group like they do in XFactor-UK Honestly I doubt either Paige or CeCe make it!

I’m beginning to think the feud between the two is solely for ratings. However, I believe there’s truth in the somewhat animosity. Doesn’t even matter, because as far as Minaj has come, she comes across as less than a diamond in the ruff. Meaning, she can’t be molded. That may be good or bad!!
Good evening, Dan J.

Watched The Voice battlerounds tonight – while some were entertaining, I would have no interest in downloading any of the songs done. They spend so much time on the mentoring clips, lead-ins — then cut away for commercials, then re-hash the Judges contemplations before the decisions again — that it gets to be 80% trivia and only 20% entertainment.
While a couple are good passable singers, none had the RS (Rising Star) factor, regardless of the honey butter the Judges spread on them.

Morning!
The Voice lost me last night. I don’t like the battle rounds anyway with the cheesy prize-fighting ring and the singers wandering around aimlessly while screaming a song as loud as they can as if that shows what a good voice they have…but now the judges are required to “steal” two singers who have been rejected by their original mentor. Not sure if it is “stealing”. It’s more like a contract hasn’t been renewed and another agency is allowed to offer a new contract.
So a process that is meant to eliminate contestants actually just trades 8 of them to opposing mentors.

Haven’t seen but one (1st) episode of Voice – from the commercials, I thought they were “stealing” current singers in someone elses group. And “required” – that sux as well If “A” has already rejected “X” why would he/she be upset (as played in the ads) that someone else resurrected “X” back into the game – makes no sense.
Deirdre, are you still watching “Major Crimes”? If so, do you thing the teen is telling the truth about what happened to him on the weekend visit with his father? Seems convenient.

Deirdre, I’m struggling to get through the battle rounds on The Voice. Talent wise X-Factor is much better. The chemistry of the judges/mentors is what keeps The Voice watchable this year. I’m not saying The Voice has no talent just not as much as last year.
The overs and girls on X-Factor are strong.
TOP GIRLS
Jennel Garcia, Dinah Jane Hansen, Diamond White, Carly Rose Sonenclar, Paige Thomas & CeCe Fray. I see Jennel, Dinah as locks to make the top 3. The final pick will be one of the13 year old girls. My pick would be Diamond over Carly Rose.
OVERS
Jeffery Gutt, Tate Stevens, Jason Brock, Vino Allen, David Correy & Panda From this group I see Jeffery, Tate & Jason making the top 3.
If X-Factor has a fan vote for a wild card like they do in the UK and Australia versions than both Carly and Diamond get in.

I actually enjoyed The Voice last night. Even the country singers were entertaining to me. De’borah was interesting too. The final two performances of the night were strong, Trevon and Amanda. It’s nothing I would expect traditional Idol fans to enjoy, but it was refreshing to hear two powerful vocalist duel.
I have no problems with the battle rounds. Competition builds character. So far, the song selection in the battle rounds complements both singers. It presents a fair slate. Besides, we see it all the time on awards shows. VH1 Divas or any awards show tribute with guests singers, display a form of competition. They don’t call it that, but at the end of the day, I KNOW what it’s all about.
I love the steal. This keeps excellent singers from slipping through the cracks. Think about Jesse Campbell (Team Christina last season). He would’ve definitely benefited from the steal. Thank goodness Amanda got a second chance. She could go far.
Overall, this was a good night for The Voice.

for those of us interested in finding a really good movie, I found a great review of “Argo”, and this is just the first paragraph of the review:
A movie about the 1979 Iranian hostage crisis probably doesn’t sound like it would be a laugh riot — or should be — but that’s just one of the many ways in which “Argo” is a glorious, gripping surprise.
Cannot wait – I’ll be there Saturday afternoon for sure!

G, I thought The Voice was good. I have a problem with the filler material leading up to the battle. I realize why they do it but it does drag. I would have picked Amanda had I been Cee-Lo, I’m just glad she didn’t go with Christina. She could well win it.
LOVE THE STEAL!!! Just a shame they didn’t haveit last year. Truth be known losing Jesse is probably why it was put in place. As far as judge selections and who they kept I can’t say any of them kept the wrong singer.

Agree, Sam!
Somebody needs to explain why it’s called a “steal” when the mentor has already released the singer. I understand that “steal” is a much more buzz-worthy word than say “recruit” or even “rehire” but it isn’t stealing if no one owns it!

Those who want a few are welcome to them, however when a guy as unearthly gorgeous as David Beckham destroys his glorious body by covering close to half of it with big globs of dark ink, it’s a real travesty. His, of all male bodies, should have been treasured and respected, not desecrated as he’s done.

I’m not a fan of tattoos but I really don’t care whether someone has them or not. Beckham is gorgeous no matter how many tattoos he has. I do think body art distracts from whatever outfit someone has painstakingly picked out for themselves and it certainly distracts me from the person until I get used to it. It’s sort of like piercings. They are the first thing I see, rather than the person. Maybe, for some people, that is the reason they do it.
I’ve never had a problem with small or discreet tattoos, obviously. It’s the ones that you can see coming from the length of a city block away that tend to have me thinking “tattoo” instead of the person’s name.
Deirdre

As for the “steal”, false advertising, if you ask me. I think “save” makes a lot more sense in the context of what they’re actually doing. They’re saving a contestant who would be going home.

It’s every bit as good as “The Closer” was. Interesting point you brought up about the kid maybe faking his injury. Because of the Captain’s hug?

Rickster: Did you take pix of you and the Mrs in your finery? If so, you should post it!
Mercedes: I’m having a weird Comcast issue. Only on my bedroom tv, about 4 – 8 times a night, the picture & sound go out, and a little black box with white writing says something to the effect “your cable connection may be faulty. If problem persists contact Comcast”. Doesn’t happen on any of the other tvs, and I’ve checked the connections from the wall to the blu ray and the blu ray to the tv – all is tight. Of course, it usually happens in the middle of a dramatic moment in whatever show I’m watching, but NEVER during a commercial break!
I don’t like MC as well as “Closer”, but not too far behind. I just can’t get used to Mary M’s weird mouth and the way she moves it – draws my attention away from the other stuff happening. And I miss Fritz – he’s pretty much a rarity in the new show. But it is very well done, and I think continuing the boy’s story over to this show was a good idea – adds depth to it and makes the chief more human and kind.

Interesting thought… Could Maria & Nikki quit?
Headlines over the past week have been dominated by a fiery, often bitter fight, and we’re not just talking about Obama vs. Romney.
We’re talking about the nasty feud between “American Idol” judges Nicki Minaj and Mariah Carey.
Behind-the-scenes audition video showed the young rapper ripping Carey with scathing remarks like “off with your head” and “I will knock you out.” The jaw-dropping outburst prompted Carey to tell Barbara Walters that Minaj went as far as to threaten to shoot her, which reportedly resulted in Carey hiring extra security.
While the hatefest has attracted media attention, the viciousness of the feud could prove to be extremely problematic to family-friendly “Idol,” experts say.

I mostly flip to DWT”S”’s during commercials, or when what I usually watch is not on or preempted, ala “Mentalist” on TNT last night for a stupid baseball game. They actually let two pretty darn good dancers go and kept the dreadful Bristol, who should have been first off, if even on at all, and Kirstie, who was ok the few times I caught her the first time, but the two dances I’ve seen this time weren’t nearly as good as the two guys who left last night! The positive thing I can say about Kirstie is she was once actually a pretty big star, with “Cheers” and the “Look Who’s Talking” movies. Apolo and Shawn are the only other two who can make a “star” claim in this bunch.
