I’m sure when “Idol” signed on Nicki Minaj with Mariah Carey, there’d be fireworks.
They just didn’t think it would get gangsta, as in Nicki threatening physical violence on Mariah.
Mariah told Barbara Walters confirmed that the confrontation took place and said she has beefed up security, but Nicki denied it on Twitter.
I’m not sure I feel like getting into more details. Nicki is unfortunately perpetuating all sorts of stereotypes for folks who had a predilection to dislike her. The older viewers who have kept “Idol” afloat may be seriously turned off by all this ridiculousness.
Atlanta’s Cee Lo Green of “The Voice” thinks it’s all bogus, he told TMZ, which has had a field day with this controversy

I spoke with season 10 runner-up and “Georgia Peach” Lauren Alaina yesterday in her tour bus outside Wild Bill’s before her performance there, sponsored by 94.9/The Bull. I’ll post something later today.

“The X Factor” has one nutty Atlantan on board, Tara Simon, a music coach who has a knack for over singing and rubbing the other contestants the wrong way. I’m seeking an interview with her. She sang “Landslide” in a face-off duet with Jennel Garcia. “I don’t know why you chose that song,” Simon says to both of them. “I don’t get it… You didn’t represent yourself.”

Ah! Sorry, Sam. It was the finale, which of course was a cliffhanger, which will have ripples and repercussions for quite some time. Shonda’s a genius.
I was trying to remember the same thing, D. I looked it up, and it was a conjoined twins surgery in Boise. Chilling to watch Owen put two and two together that his doctors never arrived… would like to eventually see more of how it played out back at Seattle Grace.
And Christina last night. Wow. Her revelation of the… things she did… and heard… in the woods. Sandra Oh needs an Emmy.

I’m alread “addicted” to too many shows: “Amazing Race” “Revenge”, “Major Crimes”, “Castle”, “Idol”, “Walking Dead”, “Falling Skies”, “What Not To Wear”, “Hawaii 5-0″, “NCIS”, “Mentalist”, “Downton Abbey” (and when it starts on PBS, probably “Midwives” as well – it’s gotten great reviews), and sure I’ve forgotten at least 5 or 6 other “dont misses”. Not enough time in the day. + “House Hunters”, “Selling of NY” and “LA”, some of the Top Chef shows, “Chopped” – boggles my mind how much time I spend watching TV. And of course, DVRing “Ellen” every day.

Thanks for looking it up, Jenny. I forgot. That’s why they needed pediatricians, surgeons and plastic surgeons.

Jenny, Shonda Rhimes is a GENIUS.
Sandra Oh definitely deserves an Emmy.
Sam-A – I too am addicted to too many shows, Amazing Race, Revenge, Real Housewives of NYC, NJ and ATL, Hardcore Pawn, Breaking Amish, Law and Order, Scandal, The Voice, XFactor, DWTS, and a slew of others…
I’m watching Ellen right now. Still waiting on her to call me for my entry nominating a breast cancer survivor for October!!!!

I’ve heard Tara Simon sing 3 times now on X-Factor and I have a hard time understanding why she has gotten even this far. And who in their right mind (or left or center, for that matter) would ever hire her as a voice coach after hearing her sing? That goes for most of the “vocal coaches” that try out for these shows! They all over-sing and add unnecessary runs but can’t simply hold out on a note.
She wayyyyy over-sang ‘Landslide’ and earlier on the show when she did ‘Somebody To Love’, she was all over the place – mostly with a sharp squeal!
You can probably guess that I can’t wait to buy a CD of hers! (Insert sarcasm emoticon here.)

She’s doing wonderfully (from what she tells me). She seems to be enjoying dorm life, college experiences. Thank goodness she’s only 3 hrs away because she’s been home twice now. Was coming home today, but her ride had a change of plans. Thanks for asking.

Sam-A… they were in a really nice business jet going for a surgical procedure. Those things just don’t crash unless they take a bird to an engine or the pilot just absolutely messes up.
The thing I found unrealistic is that they would have filed a flight plan. If they didn’t show up within an hour of their ETA, all kinds of assets would have been called in to search.
They would have been tracked by radar, and controllers would have had an idea of where the disappered off the scope.
They wouldn’t have had to wait four days to be rescued. Wouldn’t have saved Lexi, but maybe Sloan & definitely would have saved Arizona’s leg.
Have a Great Weekend, everyone!

Thanks all, for enlightenmnet on “Grey”…. so both Lexi and Mark died…sad. Feelk there’s too much to catch up with.
Finaly watched two recorded X-factors, and, sad to say, I thought it was cleverly edited, with plenty of drama build-up, and I enjoyed many of the singers. Favorites so far: Diamond White, Jillian Jensen, Jennel Garcia, Willy Jones, Jason Brock (Adam sound-alike). Plus the guy who looks like Mr. Anna Paquin. Leopard girl outsang the competition (Paige?) but I’m glad they both got trough.
Don’t understand how that hideously tonedeaf Tara Simon made it, though.

Wow, Sam! And Pitchy too! I would never be able to keep up…. I had a bunch of shows a few years ago, and as they ended, I haven’t added many new ones. (And for some reason I grew tired of Amazing Race. It began to feel like a chore to “get through it”, especially early in the season, so I’m not recording this time. Though I may pick it up when it gets down to 5 or 6 teams left.)
The current shows I have to see are, in order of addiction: Grey’s, Survivor, Idol when it restarts, Private Practice, How I Met Your Mother, parts of DWTS (I skip thru just to see the contestants I like, and I don’t watch the results shows)… and finally (ducking and hiding head) 90210.
And once the X Factor starts singing live, we’ll probably watch it. Though like last year, only the actual singing and judges’ comments… no host-babble or other garbage.

I’m a big fan of How I Met Your Mother, Jenny. Watching the characters grow and learn and go through stuff like break-ups and a parent’s death while maintaining a sense of humor and keeping it real despite Barney’s over-the-top but oh so adorable self makes this one of the best sitcoms ever imo. And “sitcom” really doesn’t adequately describe what this show is.

X-Factor easy predictions/handicapping:
They have put plenty of camera time into the Ce Ce Frey & Paige Thomas competition, they are both good and will continue into the live shows. They have already built upon this a lot and will continue with the drama. Paige was in an Idol Bootcamp in the past.
They will likely keep Willy Jones, even though he appeared to bomb in his sing-off. He adds variety with his music choices that they will want to have on the show.
It’s a cinch they will keep Tate Stevens and David Correy in their age group.
In the 12 to 16 year-olds —Carly Rose Sonenclar & Diamond White are clearly in, no way they won’t make it.
There will be 12 individuals and 4 groups – some of the groups will be makeshift from some individuals that didn’t make it, assembled by Simon.

It’s my understanding that X-Factor had these “duets” or at least one duet where they took people who don’t normally sing together and had them sing on stage… like a battle or something. What an original idea, I’m surprised that no other television show came up with an idea to do that. Simon is so imaginative.

LOL, yes JT, while XF’s boot camp is almost exactly like Hollywood week at Idol, they also had a battle round like The Voice. At least they didn’t put them in a pretend prize fighting ring!

Why not adda fifth category over at X-FAC – youngsters 12-16!
And Good Morning!
Musts I’m recording, now or when the season starts:
MAJOR CRIMES, Revolution (Giving it a chance), Ben and Kate (GIAC), The New Normal (GIAC), The Mindy Project (saw one show and liked it), The Neighbors (GIAC), Project Runway, Person of Interest, Grimm, The Mentalist, Once Upon a Time, 666 Park Avenue (GIAC), THE WALKING DEAD, REVENGE.
Good grief, no wonder I have no time to read.
Look forward to Nashville (LOVE Connie Britton),

Especially to Jenny and Pitchy: OMG! I completely forgot “Pretty Little Liars”, and I do watch Housewives of NYC and Beverly Hills – these gals are really, really rich and it’s interesting to see their shopping, homes and trips. All the others, I just cannot stomach, especially NJ and ATL – makes you believe NJ housewives are all trashy, filthy Mafia-oriented, and ATL housewives are trashy tramps (with the exception of a couple I have seen on other shows).

D, I love love LOVE How I Met Your Mother. I only discovered it in reruns a tear or so ago, but luckily they reshow it ALL the time so I now think I’m almost completely caught up.
Though it took me a LONG time to warm to Barney. I couldn’t stand him at first. And still don’t like him and Robin together. I know it won’t happen, but I love Robin with Ted.
So well said in your Sat post. It’s much more than a sitcom.

Linny is our gal and we do miss her a LOT!
Anyone else take note of Simon’s white, down-to the-navel, chest-hair revealing shirt? I’d bet he was even barefoot, if we’d had a long shot.Thought it was going to fall off of him.

Sleazy Simon!
Apparently Nick Cannon isn’t worried about his wife’s safety:
It was drama. With drama, it’s theatrics. I’m not worried about that stuff.” As for reports that a gun was involved in the performers’ altercation, he added, “I don’t know. I wasn’t there. It made for good news. It sounded good, right? Good job Fox.”

Just remembered, I need HELP with last night’s “Revenge”. Without giving a bunch away to anyone who hasn’t seen it yet, who was the guy with the gun at the very end with “Emily” and the white-haired guy? At first thought it was her former fiance, but it didn’t really look like him.

News for guys – easy on the eyes: ( all 18 or older)
From the Voice:
Adrianna Louise — Devyn DeLoera — Sylvia Yacoub — Domo — Cassadee Pope
From X-Factor:
Jennel Garcia
Ce Ce Frey ( I know, she’s over the top, paints herself with leopard dots, etc., but ……..)
Paige Thomas – pretty, physically fit, just needs to grow some hair on the sides of her head.
