Belinda Skelton, Neal Boortz’s producer for 16 years, has nabbed her own weekend radio show.

The program called “Belinda Skelton’s Atlanta Lifestyles” will air from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturdays after Boortz retires on Jan. 21, 2013 according to Condace Pressley, AM750 and 95.5FM News/Talk WSB’s assistant program director.

“Think of Pinterest, Martha Stewart or the Oprah brand where lifestyle can be defined by everything from food, wine and design to family, entertainment and local events,” according to a written statement by Ben Reed, vice president and general manager of Atlanta-based Cox Media Group, which includes The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

Pressley said WSB has been looking for a program like this for a while. “Belinda is the ideal person to do it. That’s who she is.” Skelton is a University of Georgia graduate with a degree in interior design.

“I’m on cloud nine,” Skelton said in an interview this morning. “The show is right up my alley. I can throw a cocktail party in 20 minutes and be comfortable in my own skin. My parents entertained a lot. We travel a lot as a family.”

She said she will also address topics such as how to choose summer camps for kids or the best place to have an anniversary meal in Atlanta, “things that impact your every-day life.” And she may even get Boortz to call in once in awhile while he travels.

Though Skelton will not be producing Boortz’s replacement show hosted by Herman Cain, she will remain a full-time employee of CMG, handling Boortz’s schedule after his retirement as he will continue to do daily commentaries for the station. “I’m going to do research on his daily minutes and produce those. And when Herman’s off and Neal subs in, I’ll produce that,” she said.

Pressley said CMG is putting a production team together for Cain.

Billy I’m not sure if attitudes like yours make me mad or just sad. I always wonder why we as a society have so much trouble moving forward and then I meet someone like you so blinded by the hatred of the past that you see evil even where none exists.

Bottom line with both WSB and boortz and ‘his’ people is simple. WSB is going down the tubes, and I’m glad to see this happening. rush, boortz, c’mon, Ludlow Porch has more class than these guys put together. And, while I don’t hate belinda, she has no talent Just like Neal, no talent. Hell, Neal was a lousy attorney, that’s why had to become a talk show host. Ask his clients, if you can find any.

Some of this sounds close to what the Mark Arum show does. light local topics and local food. 2 very similar shows right next to each other? Does not sound good for Mark.

Even if I wanted to hear a show like this I would not listen to her nasal toned southern drawl. Like nails on a chalk board.

Billy Mays Here said, “Well, you don’t see evil where it does exist. BOOYAH”

Ok, Billy has convinced me with his excellent skills of persuasion that Cox Communication, WSB-TV, WSB Radio, The AJC and Access Atlanta are indeed all racist organizations. These organizations are of course controlled by Dick Cheney from a secret lair deep in the mountains of Wyoming. This location also holds the infamous Hurricane Machine that Bush II used to aim Katrina at New Orleans. Of course this is all funded by the Koch Brothers and directed by the Illuminati.

Geez…

Because she has a degree in interior design (one or two steps beneath “general studies”), she is now a lifestyle expert on par with Martha and Oprah? What a way to diss your potential audience’s intelligence by thinking that we are that stupid. If she was good at ID, she would have done that full-time rather than produce someone else’s work.

One two-hour slot on a Saturday is about 90 minutes too long. Her voice certainly sounds like she is a Southern girl, but I expected her to be on Honey Boo Boo.

Why should I have to meet her in person to know that I don’t like her or her accent. Here voice is irritating regardless of whether you’re from here or not. I can’t turn the sound on the radio down fast enough when I hear a commercial with her voice.

I am sick on tired of many of the black people I hear saying other people are racist when I hear some of the most obnoxious and bigotry comments from many blacks and yes I am black. I went to a majority black school (college) and it was disgusting, these people are little Klansmen. Belinda is a nice lady, Boortz knows how to raze up the show with his rhetoric. Barack and black preachers do the same thing, race bait then pretend they did not

I only named WSB-TV and WSB radio. I didn’t bring up the AJC nor Cox Communications–nice job flying off the handle. Thankfully we’re not talking in person or I would surely be drenched in your spittle.

WSB is panicking because their ratings are down. They shuffled the racists host around and demoted Clark and Adam. I am through with this station. Belinda, I hope you saved your money from your racist boss, because without him you are toast.

WSB’s ratings are not down -yet. But the problem is what they will be six months or a year from now. They are trying to mitigate the damage while they can. Nobody expects Herman to do well. They can hope he will but still expect him to flop, but his job is not to replace Boortz, nobody can do that. Herman’s job is to limit the bloodloss and buy some time while they find another answer. Watch for Herman to “retire” soon enough.

In any case, most radio stations actually sell their weekend airtime. If you have a few hundred bucks, you, too, can have your own show. WSB is probably just trying to see if they can make more money this way than leasing the air time out to somebody else. If it works, great. If not, somebody will want to buy time for their investment brokerage or diy surplus warehouse or something.

I don’t like it when Belinda talks now. Where did Clarke go after rush took his spot? It’s talk radio for info. Put Belinda on NPR. She likes those “Shweaty Balls.”. Besides, I lost all respect for Belinda on the Croc issue and always wondered why Neal didn’t pounce on that.

Y’all are certinly entitled to your opinion, and this is the U.S.A. so you have a forum in which to express them, but I do also and in my opinion all this “Belinda Bashing” has got to stop. Nothing wrong with her voice; or her looks; or her attitude. You don’t like listening to her, you don’t have to listen. As for her own show: if you ran WSB-750, what would you program foro Saturday afternoons?

Really? What the hell is going on at WSB? Great for Belinda and all at least it adds some sort of variety to the station. So lets look at this lineup…Herman Cain, Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity and Eric Erickson…no one will be able to tell when one ends and the other begins…same right wing commentary over and over and over from this 4 headed 12 hour monster. Clark Howard on at 8 till 10 pm? 20+ years…what an excellent reward for past services…I am sure it is contractual and its just his way out the door. Best of all Adam Goldfein on at 1am till 3….seriously folks…the only really good live call in show you have exploring current topical events and subjects…and you stick that on in the middle of the night, on tape I imagine, when no one can call in? BRILLIANT! Have you guys every considered a little bit of a more balanced approach? This will be a terrible experiment and you will be blowing everything up again in 18 months…because anybody who is just a little bit left of far right won’t be listening and good luck getting them back.

To BILLY MAYS HERE:

If you think WSB is racist, I’d like to see your standard for non-racist. I don’t care for Limbaugh or much for Hannity, but the station has contributed much to this community, the whole community. I have many African-American friends who are WSB radio and TV listeners. Oh, wait a minute…..they all worked for an education, have jobs, and don’t spend any time blaming people. You have every right to tune in your hiphop stations or whatever. I don’t consider any of the “pure black” stations racist; they are just trying to make a buck like WSB. Some of the old line Atlanta black stations are pretty darn good. But to call anything you don’t like “racist” is not flattering to you.

Disgusting, vile, juvenile and hate-filled rhetoric is what passes for enlightened dialog in the black community. Nice role models to emulate. Unbelievable. November 6 cannot come soon enough.

I have been listening to Neal and Belinda since 1994. As a female, I have always enjoyed the “bantering” between them and Belinda offering the female point of view, especially when it comes to her kids and domestic life. I look forward to hearing Belinda on the weekends offering her views and recommendations. I hope it is very successful.

I’m white, but it’s unsurprising you assumed I was black and you attached overused, blatant stereotypes to me. Bigots like you always get mad when someone calls them out for their bigotry.

For once I’d like to see one of y’all just say “yeah, I’m a racist/bigot/xenophonbe.” I could at least respect you then. But for now I’ll just lump you in with the other dummies who’ve posted contrived, worn-out replies to me. You wouldn’t know anything about enlightened dialogue–from any source–because you’ve never sought it. Snoop Dogg is not a leader nor an ambassador for black folks. You just wanted an excuse to post a thinly-veiled bigoted tirade, and you certainly accomplished that.
