Diva dust up! Nicki Minaj goes after Mariah Carey on ‘Idol’

AP_People-Nicki_Minaj-x-large

Nicki Minaj. AP

Pound the alarm!

After several days of hardly any news, TMZ dug up some video of Nicki Minaj throwing down on Mariah Carey at the judges’ table. This is great stuff you have to see here.

Auditions in Charlotte were cut short yesterday to let the judges cool down.

“I told them I’m not f—– putting up with her f—-’ highness over there,” Minaj said.

Carey responds, ““Oh why, WHYYYY .do I have a three year old sitting around me?”

I have a feeling this won’t end up on screen in three months. Or will it?

Mariah fans have already posted a Facebook petition pushing for Nicki’s ouster.  It has about 1,000 likes when I checked this morning.

- And Haley Reinhart has an endorsement gig!

- VH1 aired both an Unplugged and Behind the Music for Carrie Underwood. The one thing I learned from the Behind the Music: someone on “Idol” pushed an earpiece too far into Underwood’s ear and blew out her eardrum before the final. She worried she would have trouble staying in key. But she was fine – of course. MJ provides some video here.

- Khloe Kardashian (various E! reality shows) and Mario Lopez (”America’s Best Dance Crew,” “Extra”) are set to host the live “X Factor” episodes. “The Voice” is beating “X Factor” regularly in ratings. Simon Cowell is still peeved about it.

Her highness! LOL. I would normally say grab the popcorn and lets watch a cat fight, but I was hoping for a little more from Idol this time around.

Good for Haley!

X-Factor vs. The Voice LOL. People watch what they want to watch, not what Simon tries to cajole them into watching.

I think maybe Idol has bitten off more than it can chew. Stephen Tyler required the occasional bleep. I can’t help but think Nicki is going to make him look like a choirboy.

Haley looks gorgeous. she would have been a terrific winner!

That chick needs to go! She has no place on AI and should not have been asked to be a judge. She’s obviously not mature enough to have an intelligent exchange.

If you take time to look at the “explicit” videos Nicki has done, some on YouTube and others you have to sign-in to Facebook to see — it’s been a very poor choice to put her on this panel to begin with.

Nicki Minaj is one of those people that you “enjoy the music, but don’t enjoy the person” similar to Kanye and Eminem. I’m not entirely sure WHO thought she’d be a good idea for a judge on such a family oriented show as Idol. Mariah’s response was hilarious, btw. The one I really feel for is Keith Urban. They really didn’t need to have 4 judges! I guess Idol is going for that Jersey Shore/Real Housewives audience. Meh.

I’m now giving up on that brawl. Tried to google “Nicki Minaj attacks Maria Carey” and there’s a whole bunch of Nicki Minaj attacks choices… plain attacks, “muslim”, “islam”, “woman”, and even one “Maria Carey”. Clicked on it and the computer FROZE. Unless Nicki was brought up by wolves I pity her mom. Nicki must have been one hellacious kid.

I think the Minaj hire was a BAD mistake. Idol better watch their step…. they’re slowly moving from a respected icon, to cheap, desperate and seedy.

Don’t know about Khloe, but Mario Lopez should do pretty well.

@Rickster…..that’s not entirely a bad thing. Have you seen her “assets”? Most of Nicki’s talent is behind her. LOL!

Hey, Nicki is the IT girl right now. She’s bringing all of her “Pink Friday” and Young Money crew viewing audience to Idol. Which will pretty much be a new, younger audience to Idol. Family show viewing today is different than it was 10, 20 and certainly 40 years ago. Kids are exposed to a lot more than we were at their age. So, the older audience can either make room, or leave the room.

Met with success, finally, on the HP site, yet. This Minaj creature must be cursed – after viewing the video and not understanding a WORD of what she was screaming, my computer again froze and then exploded in warnings about viruses.

Rickster, to get an idea of what G is talking about, and also an idea of her second talent which is in front of her, turn off your computer speakers and watch her “Starships” video on Youtube. That’s about what she has to offer. I guess her third talent is being strange, her fourth talent being controversial, her fifth may relate to music.

I actually like a few of her songs, but I know you well enough to understand that you won’t. At all. It’s just not for everyone. Even though I like a song or two of hers, her speaking voice isn’t that good… at all. Even when she does the fake accents, still not good for TV.

I like The Voice and X-Factor but from what I’ve seen X-Factor has better talent at this stage.

Here’s the latest salvo in the Minaj/Carey Wars:

Mariah Carey fired the first shots in her “American Idol” war with Nicki Minaj … calling the rapper a “b*tch” multiple times … this according to sources close to Minaj.

According to our sources, Nicki is adamant … in the moments before the TMZ video begins, Mariah repeatedly berated her … until Nicki finally had enough and exploded.

We’re told … Nicki feels Mariah has been wasting everyone’s time by constantly praising herself instead of focusing her energy on critiquing the contestants.

One source tells us, “She keeps bringing up how many records she’s sold, name dropping people she’s worked with, how many tours she’s done, and how many Grammys or awards she’s won … Nicki is tired of it.”

JTesla

October 3rd, 2012

And the pendulum in my mind swings away from Mariah and back to Nicki.

I can take a foul mouthed little brat, they are easy to ignore. I won’t be able to tolerate a narcissistic megalomaniac. However, like always, I’ll give both a chance. In fact, I’m going to stop saying that I’ll give Idol a chance, and you can all just assume that I will until I say otherwise.

Highlander

October 3rd, 2012
5:28 pm

Obviously, this is something Idol expected when they signed Minaj after already putting Carey under contract. Either that or they’re more stupid (stupy?) than we’ve thought (considering some past decisions)!

But, while this “feud” may be getting AI some press while X-Factor and The Voice are rolling, it actually reinforces the feeling that we’ve complained about – that Idol’s focus will be more and more on the judges than on the talent!

And yes, The Voice and X-Factor focus on the judges (coaches, mentors), too, but those shows were set up that way from the start.

I’m a 54 year old who has watched Idol from its inception. My 30 year old daughter likes Niki, but I know little about her. I have seen her on television before, and she was respectful and well-spoken, alternating between being smart and ditzy. She seemed harmless, and appeared to be banking on her time in the spotlight, just like Lady Gaga is doing. At age 54, Mariah would make me curse! She is so uppity, always talking about her things, what she bought, her kids and her husband, sneering as if looking down on “the other folks”. And I’m sure Randy did not help the situation because he just L U V S himself some Mariah. It’s just a mess. I was not a fan of either of the ladies joining the show, but Niki girl, don’t take “no mouth” from a wanna be diva. I feel you on that.

Randy, who is Mariah’s manager – and held some clout on how this panel was put-together, has put a different spin on the show even before this blow-up between the Diva’s.

Randy is the model for name-dropping and mentioning every record and band he played-in, helped produce a record with, or drove-by the studio when somebody famous was recording.

Nicki says she doesn’t want to have to listen to Mariah’s resume all the time, so maybe we can hear more of Randy’s, in which he often brings-up Mariah’s accomplishments. etc.

I wonder if they will have Mariah and Nicki sit next to each-other on the live shows:).

Minaj is trailer trash so I don’t understand how she was even invited to the show. Mariah is in a class far beyond Minaj. When Minaj grows up and learns to sing, maybe…just maybe she will be able to judge prospective singers. In the meantime, she needs to sit her beind down and be quiet…very quiet.

You can also see Simon & LA are discussing “if America will like this act (or fall for it)”. They are not basing decisions just on who is a great, highly talented singer, but more on what package/act they think the public will buy – regardless of what’s in the package. But then, that’s show Biz.

Morning!

TMZ is getting so much mileage out of this. Here’s the latest:

Nicki Minaj is FURIOUS with “American Idol” producers — telling her peeps they goosed Mariah Carey into starting beef on the set.

Sources connected with Nicki tell us … she’s convinced producers — along with member’s of Mariah’s team — are conspiring to get under her skin … because they think a pissed off Minaj will bring in viewers.

We’re told Nicki is adamant … she won’t be anyone’s puppet and if she feels she’s being set up, she vows to “cut it off at the head.” As for how, she says for starters, the next time Mariah “acts up,” Nicki is walking off the set.

There’s just one problem with her theory — we know “Idol” producers were genuinely shocked and upset by Tuesday’s outburst. Our very connected “Idol” sources tell us the big wigs were completely flat footed and they are doing everything they can to restore peace — which they successfully did Wednesday.

As for conspiracies between producers and Mariah … we believe in the grassy knoll just like the next guy, but in this case Oswald did it alone.

Deirdre

And here’s a quote from Keith Urban via mj on the Minaj/Carey Wars:

“I was the UN,” American Idol judge, Keith Urban, told Extra TV at the New York Film Festival premiere of Paperboy. “Switzerland,” added wife Nicole Kidman on the role Keith played in the Nicki Minaj/Mariah Carey battle that was caught on tape at the Idol auditions in Charlotte yesterday.

But, he added diplomatically, “I love it, I gotta say, look I love working with passionate people. I love artists. Everyone just sort of expressing themselves. It’s a very alive and very invigorating work environment. A lot of passion. Randy is the craziest, so you know I’m predictable.”

DanJ

American Idol needs to bite the bullet and can one of the diva’s. If I’ve learned one thing it is that chemistry among the judges is important. Honestly that is what makes The Voice a good show. At the rate this story is going it won’t be long until lawyers and lawsuits start flying.

Mariah speaks in the Minaj/Carey Wars:

Mariah Carey Claims Nicki Minaj Said She’d ‘Shoot Her’ Over ‘Idol’ Feud

“American Idol” judge Mariah Carey says multiple people heard fellow
judge Nicki Minaj say, “If I had a gun, I would shoot the b***h” after
launching a curse-filled rant at Carey during an “Idol” audition, Barbara Walters said on “The View” today after interviewing Carey.

Carey told Walters, who conducted the interview this morning before
the show, that she “doesn’t feel comfortable emotionally” but will
continue with the show and has hired extra security.

Carey, 42, told Walters the altercation between the judges began when
they disagreed on a contestant’s audition Tuesday in Charlotte, N.C.

The judges had a meeting with producers Wednesday to discuss the
altercation. After the meeting, Minaj told Carey, “I love you but we
might fight again,” to which Carey responded, “No, we will not,” Walters
said.

Minaj’s representatives did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

From Huffington Post:

Mariah Carey isn’t upset that things got heated between Nicki Minaj and her on the set of “American Idol,” but she is upset that a tape of the incident was leaked to the media.

“Mariah has been in the business for a long time and has seen it all but never has she had anything leaked from a closed set,” a friend of Carey said. “The fact that the producers are not searching to find out how this footage and audio got leaked tells you who was behind it.”

The shocking footage comes from auditions in Charlotte, N.C, on a private set on which only authorized personnel were allowed. Security around the taping of “Idol” has been high since the show debuted, and contestants are asked to sign confidentiality agreements.

“The producers know that the show needs PR to make it must-see TV again and this won’t be the first or the last leak,” one “Idol” expert tells me. “You don’t think every ‘Idol’ scandal in the past 12 years didn’t come from within their walls? Corey Clark, Scott Savol’s arrest records, even Philip Phillips’ kidney issues. I guarantee all that stuff was leaked on purpose for publicity.”

Reps for Minaj, Carey and “American Idol” had no comment. However, host Ryan Seacrest, who was just outside the room during the incident, said on his radio show, “Yesterday it got heated … It was intense, I’ll be honest with you.”

“Mariah is a perfectionist and is used to being in control of her image,” a TV producer who has worked with the singer tells me. “I’m sure she is shocked and disappointed that this happened, but it won’t stop her doing her job.”

Here’s an idea or 2…

– I remember season 1 of The X-Factor… Fox and X-Factor producers replacing Cheryl Cole with Nicole Schurzenger. It would remain to be seen if Fox and Idol producers are considering dropping Nikki Minaj… the replacement being someone that has far more class than Minaj. Otherwise, I won’t be watching season 12 of American Idol.

– If Fox is considering ending Idol… I could picture Fox making the cancellation announcement on April 1, 2013… and it not be an April Fool’s Day joke either. I still remember CBS announcing the cancellation of long-running daytime soap Guiding Light back on April 1, 2009… the show ended its 72-year run on September 18, 2009.

Here comes my girl, Diamond White. I think Jennel makes it to the house as well.

DanJ, I did listen to Ella last night. I loved, loved the song she wrote and how she sang it. Beautiful voice, beautiful lyrics.

Glad you enjoyed Ella Pitchy. She should win the UK version. Listen to Christopher Maloney’s audition of The Rose. It was also good.

Pitchy, does this constitute a date? If so I hope you’re not married.

Willie choked, but he’s still in. Judges feel Tate brow beat Willie in picking that song.

Divorced! Willie didn’t sing the song in the country genre. Makes me think his first audition was fake.

Now, now, don’t put Willie down. His audition wasn’t fake. He’s a youngin not knowing the song from yesteryear (lol).

I too am divorced.

I agree. I think Dinah, Diamond, Carly Rose, CeCe & Paige make it to judges house. Jeez it’s over already. That was a fast hour. Pitchy have a great night!

Do you two need a chaperone?

I’m not watching X-Factor yet, I think I’ll start during the live shows. Just passing through to see what’s going on.

I don’t quite get X-Factor’s idea of a sing-off considering the fact that they’re making it kinda obvious that they’re going to keep both of the singers in a couple instances.

While I like some of the singers on X-Factor, all the manufactured drama is getting a bit boring. …And they’re not even very good at covering up the fact that it’s manufactured!

Morning!

Was that our first blog date? I hope Pitchy and Dan had fun!

Caught the last half hour of XF last night. Can’t say that I found anyone very good…even the 2 mini-divas at the end. I expected better. I think I’ll follow JT’s lead and wait for the live shows.

I am all caught up on Grey’s Anatomy. I needed a few tissues to get through the first 2 episodes this season. And Walking Dead starts a week from Sunday!!!!! YAY!!!!
