1160/WCFO-AM picks up Glenn Beck from 640/WGST-AM (now Hispanic sports)

1160/WCFO-AM has picked up Glenn Beck from 9 to 11 a.m. starting as early as Friday but definitely by Monday, October 8.

Beck, who was airing from 9 a.m. to noon, was taken off Atlanta airwaves last Friday when 640/WGST became Hispanic sports talk.  He had been with GST  in that time slot since 2007.

Jeff Davis, who runs the station, said he will cut an hour from Imus and an hour from Laura Ingraham to accommodate two hours of Beck. Beck is one of the top syndicated talk show hosts in the country behind Rush Limbaugh (now at AM750 and 95.5FM News/Talk WSB) and Sean Hannity (also on WSB).

“He’s a big name. He’s well known,” Davis said.

Talkers magazine ranks him as the ninth most influential talk show host on radio and estimates he draws at least 8.25 million listeners a week.

On TV, after leaving Fox News, he has been doing an Internet-only distribution but recently recently returned to TV through Dish Network.

Clear Channel ruined AM-640 frequency changing it from News Radio WGST to Spanish-language ESPN. The 96.1-FM frequency was recently ruined… the former 96-Rock, which was previously Project 9-6-1, has since become the new Power 96.1. I still remember Clear Channel ruining the 94.9-FM frequency a few years ago… dropping Peach and Lite FM, to accomodate country music station The Bull. Some wondering how many more stations Clear Channel plans on ruining.

We’ve got CBS dropping Dave FM from 92.9-FM frequency, with the new Sports Talk format set to debut in mid-October.

I’m left guessing that Atlanta radio isn’t what it’s really cracked up to be… and a lot of the stations becoming shells of their former selves.

The GST fiasco will never make sense. Clear Channel has sold their soul to the devil.

Hogan tried to by this station, but the local owners said NO.

For 38 years, home of the great, and now sadly, the late Howie Chizek.

You can still listen to Stan, Maggie Phil, Steve, Bob (as in Golic) and Jim!

Sadly, you’d have to be up at 1 a.m. to hear him locally on 1160/WCFO-AM. http://www.newstalk1160.com/shows/schedule

Beck has some good points to make at times, but his show is HORRIBLE. It sounds like a bad FM morning show. I guess he never left his roots. Horrible show, but his ideology is in the right place, if you ask me.

I liked Glenn Beck back when he played lead for The Yardbirds. It’s so sad what’s happened to him since.

Yeah, HORRIBLE, that’s why he has 8 million listeners on the radio alone…

Any Wacko can spew hate and get a following. If he is so smart let’s see this clown run for office.
Lush Dumbaugh clone.

to mr bill – i suggest actually listen to Glenn sometime. He does not spew hate. He actually does the opposite. He spews love most of the time along with the truth. He, Stu and Pat are also damn funny. If you actually listen to them sometime you will understand this. Quit drinking the KoolAid and start looking at both sides. He cares deeply about the direction our country is headed. Can you say you are Happy with the state of our country? You don’t sound Happy.

@Chione – One having 8MM listeners does not determine if he is horrible or not. Remember, 1/2 the population is dumber than the other 1/2. Just like there are 8MM people dumber than the rest of the population.

AJ. I’ll bet we could get a real debate about which half of the population you are in.

“but recently plans to return to TV through Dish Network.”—Rodney, he has been available on DISH for a couple of weeks now. Check your sources before posting.

Hopefully the Honey Boo Boo family got word of the station change, they’re probably Beck fans.

Rob and Dave? They were locals so they are gone for good. Rusty was a local show. Also gone. Mark Levin? Someone else on the AM dial (on a likely weaker signal) will probably pick him up at some point.

I really think Clark Howard is being screwed for tRush. Clark is far more valuable but WSB Radio thinks tRush’s gonna keep the numbers that are being lost with the retirement of Boortz. Clark is more appealing across all demographics. Kind of hope there is an uprising of Clark listeners.

I have been a listener of wgst for years but not anymore. I don’t speak spanish , I am an American in an English speaking country for now. I would like to have it back the way it was. So now I list to AM750.

I think your problems with Glenn Beck is that he is Correct most of the time. He is way ahead with predictions and you just can’t handle the truth. You may not like the package you get it in but I do because I can rely on the FACTS that he digs up not just his opinion. Do some research yourself so you don’t end up on his moron trivia show on Friday.

Does anyone know if CoastToCoastAM, which aired on WGST 1 to 5am, will be picked up locally?
