‘The Voice’ guaranteed two more cycles

the-voice-nbc-episodic-hed-2012NBC has renewed “The Voice” for the spring and fall of 2012. No surprise.

Ratings have held up very well this fall. On Monday night, even against all original shows and Monday Night Football, the show drew a sold 12 million viewers and a 3.9 18-49 rating, second best of the night behind only football.

Sure, it’s easy to forget most of the singers (though I did like the last woman last night named Cassaddee Pope, who brought a lot of character and spirit, if not always pitch, to her take on “Torn.”) But it’s easy to take in.

Not much going on in the “Idol” world that I can find.  Britney Spears get rainbow hair extensions?  Keith Urban tells press he’s having a great time doing auditions for “Idol.” Nicki Minaj launches Playful Pink perfume. Yup, that’s what’s going on people.

And Andy Williams died. That has nothing to do with “Idol” or “X Factor” or “The Voice” but it’s worth noting because he was an icon, whose Christmas music kept him relevant until his death. He was one of the last of that generation who was still alive.

Good weekend all. Waaaay too busy week, as co worker out on vaca, and I have played 2 people this week. Drove to Chattanooga at 4:00 a.m. to pick up new tiny Poodle puppy – falling to the ground here at 4:30 pm! And my 2 year old isn’t happy she’s got a sister, so lots of love to be lavished upon both girls this weekend to placate hurt feelings.

Mercedes, hope kitty cat is doing better. Does she have some lite pain meds?

Morning!

Still recovering from that Falcons game. Whew!!!

Watched Once Upon a Time last night and they seem to be going in a new direction. I taped 666 Park Avenue. I hope the Revenge fans enjoyed their show as well.

I will be watching last week’s Grey’s Anatomy just before this week’s. I haven’t had time to watch it or Last Resort yet.

Morning… and isn’t it time for RoHo to get us a new thread so we don’t have to go back to ARCHIVES to find fellow Idolers??
Watched 666 PA and it was creepy. Recorded Revenge and bunch of other stuff.

Mercedes, I just bookmarked the Idol archives and come directly to the latest thread without having to search.

Mercedes: I’ve been wondering about “cross scripting” as well – it seems to have found a permanent home at the bottom of my screen!

I saw “Loopers” yesterday – not my type of film, but the men in the theater seemed to enjoy it. I couldn’t figure out why they’d send you back to you to kill – why not to another looper to take care of old you? And I’ve always thought Joseph G-L was adorable, but he looked so old and unattractive in the movie. Half way thru, I remembered he was on “Ellen” last week and said he’d had 3 hours a day of prostheses and makeup put on his face to make him look more like Bruce W. Whew – glad he’s still cute under all that goop.

I’m hoping to see Loopers in the next couple of days. Sounds like a cool concept to me.

XF moves to boot camp this week and then to the judges’ “homes”. Not totally sure what TV is doing. Are they still having blind auditions?

Deirdre: “Revenge” was good. I started “666…” but fell asleep about half way thru, so last I remember, she was in the basement taking another look at the dragon tile after researching it at the library. Not sure if I’ll watch it or not. Taped “Amazing Race” and watched “Once Upon…”. Don’t know how these new people in olden times will fit in or get to Massachusetts! I have decided I like the “Closer” replacement. Missed last week’s show, and it’s not yet turned up On Demand.

Mercedes: Waiting for your review of the Ben Affleck film about the Iran escape – looks terrific, hope it is!

I watched most of Carrie Underwood Behind the Music on VH1 last night. Really interesting to hear her viewpoint on the Idol experience. She seems like a level-headed girl and charming, too.

I’ll get into Revenge eventually but we’re working on the first 3 seasons of Breaking Bad right now. Love it.

I put up a new Idol-ish blog entry Glad the Carrie Underwood Behind the Music was good. I’m going to have to DVR it and see it myself.
