Ryan Seacrest sells mansion for $11 million

ryanseacrest_652_MattSayles__article_story_main

“Idol” host Ryan Seacrest has sold his mansion for $11 million to pick up Ellen DeGeneres’ pad, according to TMZ.

He purchased the place for $11.5 million in 2006 but if anyone can afford to take a loss, it’s Seacrest.

The 8,000-square-foot mansion used to be owned by Kevin Coster and before that, Richard Dreyfus.

He and his girlfriend Julianne Hough have moved into Ellen’s former home, which he purchased earlier this year for $37.5 million.

Forbes also released its top 100 “most powerful” celebrities
. Former “Idol” judge Jennifer Lopez is No. 1, ahead of Oprah. “X Factor” judge Britney Spears is No. 6. Simon Cowell is at no. 18. Our local star Tyler Perry is 20. Seacrest is ranked No. 29.

- Clay Aiken is in a Twitter feud with fellow “Celebrity Apprentice” alum John Rich.

Aiken Tweeted: “Playing drinking game with my brother now. We drink every time we see a black person on screen at the RNC convention #soberasamormon”

Rich responded: “We drink every time we see a black person at the RNC//CLAY! You should be ashamed for racist comments like THAT!WOW.”

- Kellie Pickler will be one of the upcoming co-hosts on the new season of “Anderson Cooper,’ which will go live.

I bet it galls Simon that Britney is ranked higher than him. :-)

How many CLOSETS does this mansion have for potential buyers who live in similar self-denial?

At the risk of enraging the Claymatons… I find his drinking game highly offensive. I lost the little respect I had for him.

Of course, he probably got wasted… since there were a whole lot more “black” persons than he thought.

It was a dumb tweet and Clay should be ashamed. However, it certainly was not racist. Regardless of his being correct or not, John Rich is still a D.B.. Granted I’d say that even if he tweeted that he loved cats and dogs.

I agree it wasn’t racist. That word has been thrown around so much it’s lost most – if not all – of its meaning.

Don’t know John Rich. So I’ll defer to JT on that.

Good morning and John Rich is a big “what JT said” and more. I cannot stand his pompous azz.

I thought Clay was smarter than that. Why alienate his fans with rude political tweets? Not too fond of John Rich either so I think I’ll just chalk this one up to too much alcohol(cuz, yes, there were a lot of African-Americans in attendance last night…maybe that’s why Clay liked the drinking game so much)

Hi y’all,

Rickster, sorry to hear about your mom. My deepest condolences. But also, congrats on being back at work.

While I don’t really agree with Clay’s comments, having John Rich of all people calling him out on it..is quite ironic.

Sam-A and Pitchy, Holy crap! The PLL summer finale was insane. It had me at the edge of my seat…I’ll discuss more when I know you’ve both seen it, but the wait until January is going to be tough. Who would have guessed that a little show on ABC Family would be such a guilty pleasure?

K&CF: I posted a “PLL’s” on the bottom of the last one for you and Pitchy. Wow did it sizzle last night! Turned out to be a really good series – who knew. Figured it had to be one (I’ll say no more until Pitchy says she’s seen it) and that was one of the two we’d singled out. Sure wish it wasn’t the last show for months! The Hallowe’en previews look pretty interesting too. My shows are just tumbling into season enders – I’m just about left with nothing!

Rickster, from your wording earlier this week, were you laid off and now returned to your job, or have you started a new one? Good going either way – it’s hard to find jobs lately. They’re all in India, Sri Lanka, and any place else that the customer service help you need is provided by someone barely proficient in the English language!

Sam-A, it has turned out to be a really fun show. I was surprised only because I thought there were so many who could be. I tend to suspect everyone with this show. BTW, I’m thinking there is yet another member of the A Team… I can’t wait for it to come back. And I’m guessing that the Halloween episode will be a standalone like last time, possibly incorporating a small reveal or two. Big networks could learn a thing or two about PLL. In the age of DVR, that show is probably watched live by most.

Ezra was on my short list. But, come January, if Idol comes back to Tue/Wed, what will we do? I guess I’d record PLL and watch Idol, but probably then watch it at 9:00.

I’m sure there’s at least one more “A”. Lucas is somehow involved. As far as Allison, didn’t the cop and Jenna say they’d killed her, when they were stealing that file information? And we know Spencers sister and her husband were knee-deep in the mystery.

This show sure keeps ya guessing – both what you’ve actually seen and what’s gonna happen next! I like it better than “Revenge”.

I’m not clear where Caleb and the girls went – the girls were at a place called “lighthouse Inn”, but Caleb was at a lighthouse – and they weren’t seemingly at the same place. Can you clarify that?

Why

August 29th, 2012
11:37 am

Good Lord, give Clay a break, it was a game and there was no ill will. Have we become so sensitive that we can’t laugh at a joke?

JTesla

August 29th, 2012

Why, considering that Clay probably wouldn’t laugh at a “joke” if the “game” involved gay men then no, he doesn’t get a “break”. There was “ill will” involved, ill will towards black people who belong to a political party when Clay believes that they shouldn’t. It was negative stereotyping, something Clay is “sensitive about” and constantly rallies against, so why the double standard on his part?

Deirdre

Well done, JT! I know you like to stir the pot but it’s impossible to argue with your logic…although the Clay fans will try…which should be entertaining.

Sam-A, when they were at Ali’s grave waiting on “A,” the realized that A would be a no-show and thought the meeting was a ruse to separate them from Emily. Hanna (I believe) remembered that she’d be with Nate at some place named Lighthouse Inn (or something similar). The girls recalled there being two places with the same name. Caleb heard them over the voice-activated app and went to one of them, while the girls went to the other place. They showed up at the wrong place first, so they went to the second place where Caleb, Emily and Paige were.

BTW, based on the tweet Rodney posted, where does he say black people don’t belong in the Republican Party? That’s quite an assumption being made here. I do agree that the joke was in poor taste and misinformed, though.

I don’t care at all for John Rich but Clay’s comment was…STUPID! I say that as a fan. One actress maybe Ellen Barkin said she wish the hurricane would kill…then she lashed out using several dergatory terms. Any celebrity who gets over zealous politically loses fans. They’re beyond stupid to do so. They have every right to voice their opinions but when their voice is filled with hatred or stupidity then it usually bites them in the keister.

If John Rich made a comment similar to Clay’s about gays don’t you think Clay would be outraged? As Forrest Gump said: “Stupid is as stupid does!” And Clay is STUPID!!!!

JTesla

In the interest of full disclosure Clay also made the following tweet one hour after the drinking game tweet: “@johnrich I think that a party that is hoping to represent and lead a country as diverse as America is should not be homogenous as the GOP”

Arguing that there is homogeny in a group, when there isn’t, is one step away from questioning why someone who is non-homogeneous with the whole is there. Gay Republicans are outright ridiculed by non-Republicans for belonging to the party, and now we get LOL’s when we see someone with dark skin at the convention?

However, I doubt this will cost Clay many fans. His fan base is pretty solid and people know what they are getting with him.

Rickster

Clay’s comment not only tried to paint the GOP as a whites-only party (which it isn’t) it took a cheap shot at Romney’s religion with the”#soberasamormon” tag.

So not only is Clay bigoted towards Republicans, he’s bigoted towards Mormons too.

DanJ, John Rich HAS made comments about gays in the past. Chely Wright called him out on thing he’d said. He, of course, denied them. I’d guess the truth lies somewhere in the middle.

Clay made a very stereotypical joke about the GOP. That said, I think calling him a bigot is a bit of a leap. Still, as a member of a minority, he should know better than perpetuating stereotypes.

@kelly&carriefan, I didn’t call Clay a bigot, I called him an idiot! As for John Rich I’m no fan and if he’s made anti-gay comments people should either support or protest his opinions by not going ro concerts or buying records. I have two family members who are gay. A niece and a cousin so I do support gay rights. I just think some celebrities are better served to keep their over zealous comments to themselves.

Wow Sam, KCF and Pitchy… sounds like I MUST catch up on PLL during the off-season!! I got semi-addicted during its first season. Ran across it channel-surfing and saw it had Lucy Kate Hale, who I liked from “Privileged”, plus Piper from “Charmed”, so I watched… there was an episode where they were trapped at school during a storm and she sang…. that’s the one that got me hooked, and I watched faithfully until that season’s finale. But since then, I’ve only seen it sporadically and read updates. (and this season, work and life have made it completely impossible to keep up with any show.)

But y’all have definitely made me want to catch back up. I’ll join you in January… hold me to that!!

Sister Jen: try and catch up – things really got crazy this season – it was much better than the first one (or would it be 2, since it was split in half). If you don’t see all the earlier shows, you’ll have no clue what’s going on.

Clays remarks were not racist to me…I’m of color and I was amazed at how the camara seemed to keep some Black face on screen as well as playing much Motown music. There were not that many Blacks there, and I am aware of one person who arranged thru her employment to attend the RNC and she is definitely not a Romney fan nor a Republican. Possibly many Blacks there were actually working via media, etc. Also, Clay, you probably didn’t even get a good buzz from that game LOL.

Sam-A,

I got paid for 50 days of vacation after I left. But I keep my former accrual rate of 20 days/year.

I got my 180+ days of sick leave credited back to me, and I was still on insurance when I started back.

So.. all in all… not too bad.

Just back from seeing Lawless. Tom Hardy impresses me more and more as an actor. He is such a chameleon much like another actor in the film, Gary Oldman who actually has a pretty small part. Guy Pierce is also pretty amazing as the sadistic lawman. Good story and of course it was also fun pointing to familiar places.

All Clay did was point out that the TV coverage was not inclusive of black folks and that if it were a drinking game he would stay sober. I see nothing wrong with that. Too many people jump to the worst possible conclusion without bothering to comprehend what he actually said. He sees a lack of diversity. So do I.

JTesla

Smarty: “TV coverage was not inclusive”

That means that the network made a decision to not show black people. So are you claiming a conspiracy by the network or, like Clay, are you claiming the GOP has a lack of diversity?

What part of that don’t you get, or do I need to type that out slower?
