UPDATE: Hollywood Reporter on Friday afternoon says Keith Urban and Minaj are close to deals. We shall see.
I’m insulted that I haven’t been asked to be on the “Idol” panel yet because it seems everyone else has!
The latest to confirm: Alanis Morrisette. She told CNN “Yes, I have been in conversations about it, and that’s the degree to which I can share the info right now,” Morissette told CNN. But, she added, she is open to the idea of being an “Idol” judge.
She seems very zen nowadays compared to her mid-1990s “You Oughtta Know” days. Would she be able to really give constructive critiques on the judges’ dais? Who knows?
I left her off the list Wednesday simply because there were so many others floating around.
The whole Nicki Minaj rumor is still floating around though there’s word the negotiations are slow going. Even AP ran a story. But who knows at this point. Speculation is rife. I wish we could move on to other things. Are there any other things to write about?
- Clay Aiken sent out Tweets earlier this week making fun of the fact that his name sounds kind of like Rep. Todd Akin: “Lets B clear- THIS Aiken RESPECTS a womans right 2 choose. Maybe @reptoddakin could use some lessons from me on the female body! Haha #irony”
- Chart check. Kelly Clarkson’s “Dark Side” doesn’t appear to be doing particularly well on the top 40 charts and is currently stuck at No. 23. It’s at No. 7 on the Hot AC chart. Phillip Phillips’ “Home” has snuck into the top 40 at 39 but is up to No. 14 on the Hot AC chart. It’s the top Soundscan digital sales leader again among “Idol” singers with 141K more sold and 1.2 million overall. On the country chart, Carrie Underwood’s “Blown Away” is at No. 16. Casey James‘ “Crying on the Suitcase” is at No. 32. Mandisa’s “Good Morning” is at No. 24 at the Christian AC chart, after peaking at No. 20. Jason Castro’s “Only a Mountain” has debuted at No. 38.
