‘Love & Hip Hop Atlanta’ recap: I am… God?

5c53b020d39ab0decc20278e4b03d8e8

If you see the word “cocky” in that old dictionary, there’s a picture of Stevie J.

The arrogant producer on “Love & Hip Hop Atlanta,” who is hoping to keep both his baby’s mama Mimi and his “client,” Joseline in his back pocket, decides to have a second therapist session with the trio. (The last time, Joseline punched him in the face so he’s a glutton for punishment.) He strolls in wearing a shirt with the words “I am God” emblazoned on his T-shirt.

The editors strategically places the three of them in separate chairs this time around as opposed to one couch. There are probably about 50 security guards right outside of camera view to boot.

“He feels he can have you both,” the therapist at the Bliss Center tells them.

“The reality is he’s not going to change,”he adds. “You have to take control of your lives.”

Joseline acts as if it’s no big deal that Stevie J is a smarmy player, when in fact, she does care. Mimi is at the end of her rope.

Stevie J spends the entire season finale episode using a bus analogy. He’s the bus driver. The women go on and off as the please. He provides the gas, the air in the tires, the entire short bus (as my wife just dubbed it.)

“It’s my bus,” he explains. “Get with the program or I’m going to have to leave you in the desert.”

The lip-smacking dude  is so confident he can have both of them, he puts on his sunglasses in the office as if he’s Tom Cruise in “Risky Business.”

But Mimi isn’t going for that. By the end of the episode, she refuses to stay on the bus – and she refuses to be in the desert either. Apparently, she has a cleaning business and can live without him – or so she says. And she does show strength leaving him in the dust. He is angry. He likes to think he’s in control of this bus.

And when Stevie J wants Joseline to meet up with another female singer with more tattoos than Joseline, she instantly gets jealous and storms out. So much for her being cool with his behavior. At the end of the episode, she is at least happy that she no longer needs to strip but is now singing. So after opening the season coming off as a fool, she ends up a far more sympathetic figure – despite her penchant for referencing to herself in third person.

Ultimately, the Mimi/Stevie J/Joseline story line outhustled every other one on the show by several miles on the soap opera scale. Here’s a quick summary of other plots:

- Erica finally broke it off with marble-mouthed Lil Scrappy, who goes back to Shay and his mommy. Yawn.

- K. Michelle remains indignant that Rasheeda doesn’t fully buy her “I was abused by her friend Memphiz” story.

- Rasheeda celebrates 12 years with her husband in a ceremony so noteworthy to the editors of the show, they cut it down to about 30 seconds.

- Benzino struggles with whether he should propose to Karlie and when he tries, he botches it by not even asking her the question while showing her the ring. When she questions his sincerity, he backs off.  They break off, it appears. She is later seen canoodling with local rapper Roscoe Dash.

It appears VH1, riding the success of the show, has cobbled together an 11th episode for next Monday but I’m not sure what it’s going to entail. Then we get to the reunion, which should be a delight.

“Love & Hip Hop Atlanta” is drawing higher ratings than Bravo’s “Real Housewives of Atlanta” did, even in its best season, averaging more than 3 million viewers the first run and another 1.5 million during the 10 p.m. repeat.

Im glad mimi is leaving Stevie. Stevie plays too many games for a grown man, Joseline kept it real, she know what shes dealing with, and shes willing accept Stevie because she wanna a career real bad, at least she kept it real with mimi and didnt hide behind closed doors. Joseline knew that she couldnt step to mimi hard, because mimi is a real woman, with a legal job, looks good, and hold her own. Joseline was found in a strip club, Nothing wrong with that, everybody goes thru things in life hard sometimes or hit rock bottom. The new girl in Stevies studio, gonna have problems. If she was smart, she wouldnt fall for the games. Karla is confused, Benzino he confused, and karla mad about the ring, well she should have played her game right and won. K michele need to move on, the abuse happen, no doubt and I feel Rasheeda in way, she dont see it because her best friend is married to this guy, that beat on K michelle. Scappy lost too, and shay please looking like the lion king, hey its somebody for everybody, Scrappy need to stop playing and confess that him and shay are more than friends. It dont take rocket science to figure that out. I guess his baby mama moved on too. (GOOD) its not that much fame, and money to be putting up with all those mixed up emtionals and disrespect from men. Life too short to be bull crapping around.

Mimi she will be back on Stevie J next week
Josline did she say she watched stevie and her bff do it in her bed and she like girls? Mimi can’t compete with that stripper doing all that XXXXXXX-rated stuff

Shay-I agree with Kesha shay is simba lion king

Scrappy-he broke

Rasheeda those bags and those wack songs got to go

Karly- she will do anything for a hit…I say put karly, stevie, josline, and shay in an adult movie and sell it on bankhead with a hot fish sandwich…scrappy can be a minor cast member when stevie needs a break.

k.michelle go sitdown she sounds slower than steve’s bus

I really like Joseline cuz she keeps it real. At the end of the day she knows Stevie isnt jus hers so she respects it enough to get her career off. i would do the same thing. Mimi is dumb n in love wit a man that dont love her. U think becuz a baby is n the pic that the man is head over heels about u. He could care less about Mimi Joseline and his three daughters. Shay does look like the lion king / chimpanzee. shes so fake!!! K.Michelle- I kno ur hurt but lets get over it and move on. Itd a man out there for u but u seem schizo at times. Rasheeda- leave the business and give ur man a baby b4 ur old ass run out of time. Karli too…

Great for the city's image!

of all of the MANY disgustingly shameful things I could point out pertaining to this tv circus, the most surprising thing is that k. michelle ( famous for who knows what!?!) is a former campus queen at florida a&m university. on the heels of the beating death of decatur native & drum major robt. champion, the last thing that school needed was more negative press. honestly though, that country, backwards, ignorant, gravel-chewing chick has been to college???? these things CANNOT serve as positives in the minds of prospective students and HOPEFULLY not their parents! keep pumping out those rhodes’ scholars FAMU!

The one thing I want to comment on is Rasheeda’s reaction to K. Michelle. My beef with Sheeda is that who the hell do she think/assume that she can testify to this man’s character based off of what she knows…..what about BEFORE she know him??? She can’t speak on anything outside of his realtionship with Toya! That is exactly how mf’s that abuse women are able to get away with it! SMH – she’s a dummy.

I am happy Mimi finally decides to leave that fool, I can see him giving her AIDS, she should get herself checked out for any sexual transmitted decease. The dumb boy is sleeping around without a condom. Mimi you can do better. You have your daughter to live for. Sooner or later he will end up with AIDS

Erika please leave Crappy and and get yourself a real man, not a man who is listening to his dumb mother. Now you know your child is on probation and you are still telling him to go and check him (Steve J) Because of mothers like her we have so many young black man in prison. She needs to go back to school. Erika move on and be a role model for your daughter.

Reality TV? There is no way an intellegent entrepreneur who has her own business would/should expose her relationship to the world. Now Mimi said she was made and has her own business and business should be kept separate from pleasure but Stevie J all up in a client’s home standing like a penguin can’t be reality. I get the point of her wanting to show that she didn’t need him and all but come on. And tatoo, the new chick in Stevie’s world along with the”I am God” t-shirt even though he doesn’t even understand the words on his shirt: his view of women; Benzo’s fake proposal – remember he only showed Karle the ring, he never asked her to marry her or said that he was in love with her during the fake proposal; Karle, the cradle robber whose eyes lit up at the ring even though she knows she was only using Benzo to advance her career (little did that help); Scrappy’s hopeless attempt to get back with Erica and him telling Shae he loved her (lol): and TV1’s small attempt to capitalize on the closest thing to love on the show – Rasheda and Kirk’s vows renewal. If this is reality, they should be committeed because no one with any since has this life and want’s it expossed. Those who do are doing everything they can to change their reality behind closed doors.

Oh, and can someone please help Mma D with her speach and spelling before they record the second season? The words are: invite, not vite; relationship, not lationship; bitch not bicth *and in that order”. And tell Scrappy to stop making up words. The girl’s name is Shae – just say that!

“At the end of the episode, [Joseline] is at least happy that she no longer needs to strip but is now singing. ”

Actually, she moved from stripping to prostituting. She has one song and probably no money from it. Her existence is based solely on being Stevie J’s mistress.

Ok..this show has been a huge embarrassment to women. And men should be really ashamed as well. I know that ATL has way more to offer of quality than this mess. I can’t believe that I just witnessed a man wipe the sweat off another man’s nose. WTF… I know that Stevie knows that Joseline is a dude..of course she likes both.. she IS both! And as for the other chicks.. child boo please! No one’s talent is there so everyone is trying to get heard because they are stupid.. how low can you go???
Furthermore, MiMi I am begging you to please don’t talk to this dude no more! He is gay! He likes dudes! I am sure the other person that had the 3-way with him and “Joe” (Joseline) was a tran too. Duh!!! See MiMi what Stevie is really asking is can you get on this “bus” of him being gay! Hell… he figure he got the money and a studio so can’t we all just get along? Pathetic!!

Stevie drives a bus alright the short bus. It’s carzy to think men have this power over women. What he is actually saying they are not relevant without him. In a way he is right. He dangles the carrot and whatever trick wants to get on the short bus they go for it and they are the fool. Stevie hats women just wants them to suffer. We love to see some real taught on the show. I feel for Shay, run girl you can do better.

Only person with some sense on the show is Erica. Kicking scrappy to the curb and moving on. Seeing through his b.s. and him being a mamas boy clinging to his mom. Avoid what mimi is going through and move on.

Also Joseline is not real at all. Shes just real dumb. Had an abortion and still having unprotected sex with stevie j. smh.

All I have to say is, how can k michelle move on? The closure from the abuse was never addressed. Stop being so insensitive. This man is still contacting and stalking this woman. I say k, let the cat out of the bag. I am so upset with people thinking they or god because they have money. Sisters let’s act like ladies at all times. We all have a past. That’s what it is, our past!

*shrugs* It’s a good soap opera. Whoever think this is “real” lives under a rock…….

Anyway, it is ignorant. It is a waste of if you’re looking for a show thats mentally stimulating. I stopped paying full attention to VH1 years ago after Flavor of Love. Every show has the same formula ……washed up/out of the spotlight singers/actresses/actors/producers etc….in front of a camera for three months of filming…reading a script…..for a nice hefty paycheck and exposure basically. If you haven’t learned that from the first season of Flavor of Love then again…you’ve been under a rock or have better objectives in your life than to watch this nonsense.

Well, I’m done. Peace,Love, Metta.

By now most of you know that urban “reality” TV shows have nothing to do with reality. Most of the action is scripted, or suggested, by the producers to boost TV ratings. Love & Hip Hop Atlanta is the latest reality show to seize the fleeting attention of gullible audiences.

MIMI: As much as we like to place the blame on men for being dogs, the women dealing with those type of men have to look within themselves and see their own worth. Love has nothing to do with it because I bet if sex wasn’t involved, the situation would be different. In any relationship, if a person is not leading you closer to the Lord, then what is it leading to? As a single mother, I had to make the decision to let him go because I deserve better. Besides, what kind of example would I be to my daughter running after a man who meant us no good?
K. Michelle is a beautiful women with a lot of gifts and no matter the press, only those who were there know the truth. Rasheeda claims that she doesn’t see the man that K. is describing, however, the bible clearly says not to place man above what is written. In other words, one should never say what a person would or would never do. K. we gotta forgive, let live, and move on.
Jocelyn, beautiful girl. I pray and hope that she will develop a love for her temple because not every man is worth what comes with “playing the game”. Having unprotected with someone who devalues his own self in this day & age is a calling for some STD you can get rid of! Clearly she had a rough life but let me say, no matter what a man promises to you, God can show you better and open up doors that NO MAN can close!
Karlie, the industry can take a beautiful hungry artist down a lot of rotten places when making deals based on flirting and shallow attractions. I pray that she will get her own confidence within her self and not feel as though she has to stoop to get ahead.
Erica, because she settled for so long with someone whom she claimed had childish ways, should probably take some time out loving and getting to know more about Erica. A lot of times we think we know what we wan’t as soon as we get out of a draining relationship, when God may be calling us all to himself to find out who we are in Him. “A MAN who finds a good wife, finds a good thing”. For those who desire to be married, we just have to be doing our part-working on us so that when he comes, we will know and be ready for that. ” SEEK YE FIRST THE KINGDOM OF GOD, AND ALL ELSE WILL BE ADDED. IN ALL THINGS: LOVE, MONEY, SUCCESS, WHATEVER, WE GOTTA DO IT HIS WAY.
PEACE & GOD BLESS

How in the hell can a MAN have an abortion? Are we that stupid to believe that…Steve J put that in the show for rating, belive that. Heck any one can go buy a pregenancy test kit…Get real people. these reallity shows are really making a mockery out of the really talented Black actress and actors. How can we as a society take of these reality house wifes for Beverly Hill to New York and other reality shows? Oh, and MiMi cleaning a house in High Hells what a joke.
