InTouch magazine is claiming an exclusive, saying “Real Housewives of Atlanta” is adding two new castmates this year. It’s not that magazine’s exclusive. I give “first with the news” credit to Straight From the A.
First up is 38-year-old model and actress Kenya Moore. Straight From the A broke that news in early May, soon after “Real Housewives of Atlanta” season five began taping. She’s a former Miss USA 1993 with Michigan ties but is not from Atlanta. She moved down specifically for the TV show. She’s not a housewife because she’s unmarried but that doesn’t preclude folks from being on this show. She’s had small roles in films such as “Deliver Us From Eva” and “Waiting to Exhale.” On TV, she’s had guest roles on “Meet the Browns” and “The Parkers,” to name a couple.
The second name only came to light earlier this week, again courtesy of the well-sourced Michelle Brown at Straight From the A: Porsha Williams Stewart, grand-daughter of late civil rights icon Hosea Williams. (So she is from Atlanta, at least.) She is yet another wife of an ex-NFL football player, in this case Kordell Stewart, a quarterback from the Pittsburgh Steelers, the Chicago Bears and the Baltimore Ravens. He played pro from 1995 to 2005.

Kenya Moore
RHOA likes women tied to athlete husbands. Lisa Wu Hartwell from seasons one and two was married to an NFL player (they reportedly separated a year ago) and so was Sheree Whitfield, a divorcee who was cut from the cast after four seasons.
So here is the cast for 2012-13: Phaedra Parks, Cynthia Bailey, NeNe Leakes, Kandi Burruss, Kenya Moore and Porsha Williams-Stewart. Kim Zolciak may have a reduced role given her latest pregnancy. (She was already less of a presence last season, skipping the trip to South Africa due to her last pregnancy.)
While “Real Housewives of Atlanta” is still the most popular “Real Housewives” show on Bravo, ratings slipped slightly season four from season three as the program shows signs of wear and tear. VH1’s “Love and Hip Hop Atlanta,” in the meantime, has usurped “Real Houseiwves” in the buzz (and ratings) department. The season finale of that show’s first season airs Monday at 8 p.m.

This will be an interesting cast of newly added cast members. Glad to see Kenya Moore, but still not quite sure why she was cast if she wasn’t living here in Metro Atlanta or has minimal ties to the region. Was she dating/engaged someone from Atlanta? I think I read that Keisha Knight-Pulliman was a cast member contender; I can see if Bravo approached her about appearing on the show, since she’s a Spelman graduate and maintains a home here. Again, the show is frankly for entertainment purposes; I’m sure many of us will be tunning in when the new season gets underway.

@ What the Hey- Yes. There are still white people in Atlanta. Just watch an episode of “Honey Boo Boo” and you will see them. Live and in color…

As long as it reduces the number of Milion Dollar Listing episodes viewers have to endure commercials for ,don’t care how many black/white, unmarried, cheating, unemployed, divorced, uneducated, smart, gold-digging, song-writing, lip-synching, pageant winning, tongue-lashing, wig/weave wearing mistress attorney models they ship in for the show. Once Zolciak goes on Biggest Loser “Celebrity” after the Kroy cheated with a DWTS dancer divorce, I’ll take her place ..

Give it a break folks. RHOA is strictly about two things, money and entertainment. If this show does not reflect the way you think Black women should behave, don’t watch it. If enough viewers look at something else, it will become join the waste pile of history along with jheri curls, eight-track tapes, and bell bottoms.
What really gets me is an individual complains about the trashiness of the show but still watch it. That person needs to move out of her mother’s apartment and get a life.
