Reports: Two new cast members on ‘Real Housewives of Atlanta’

Porsha Williams-Stewart

Porsha Williams-Stewart

InTouch magazine is claiming an exclusive, saying “Real Housewives of Atlanta” is adding two new castmates this year. It’s not that magazine’s exclusive. I give “first with the news” credit to Straight From the A.

First up is 38-year-old model and actress Kenya Moore. Straight From the A broke that news in early May, soon after “Real Housewives of Atlanta” season five began taping. She’s a former Miss USA 1993 with Michigan ties but is not from Atlanta. She moved down specifically for the TV show. She’s not a housewife because she’s unmarried but that doesn’t preclude folks from being on this show. She’s had small roles in films such as “Deliver Us From Eva” and “Waiting to Exhale.” On TV, she’s had guest roles on “Meet the Browns” and “The Parkers,” to name a couple.

The second name only came to light earlier this week, again courtesy of the well-sourced Michelle Brown at Straight From the A: Porsha Williams Stewart, grand-daughter of late civil rights icon Hosea Williams. (So she is from Atlanta, at least.) She is yet another wife of an ex-NFL football player, in this case Kordell Stewart, a quarterback from the Pittsburgh Steelers, the Chicago Bears and the Baltimore Ravens. He played pro from 1995 to 2005.

Kenya Moore

RHOA likes women tied to athlete husbands. Lisa Wu Hartwell from seasons one and two was married to an NFL player (they reportedly separated a year ago) and so was Sheree Whitfield, a divorcee who was cut from the cast after four seasons.

So here is the cast for 2012-13: Phaedra Parks, Cynthia Bailey, NeNe Leakes, Kandi Burruss, Kenya Moore and Porsha Williams-Stewart. Kim Zolciak may have a reduced role given her latest pregnancy. (She was already less of a presence last season, skipping the trip to South Africa due to her last pregnancy.)

While “Real Housewives of Atlanta” is still the most popular “Real Housewives” show on Bravo, ratings slipped slightly season four from season three as the program shows signs of wear and tear. VH1’s “Love and Hip Hop Atlanta,” in the meantime, has usurped “Real Houseiwves” in the buzz (and ratings) department. The season finale of that show’s first season airs Monday at 8 p.m.

I can’t wait until the new season starts. I hope there is plenty of drama this season as last season was kind of boring.

Thank God I get more enjoyment watching paint dry and grass growing than watching these disgusting, vulgar, wannabe’s misrepresenting Atlanta.

So now they are importing people? She must be full of drama for this to have occurred….

This show has lost the last peg of its credibility. Why fly someone in to be on the cast when there are so many homegrown ripe peaches right here in town?

Why are they only focusing on black women? Atlanta is a multi-cultural city!

Please. This city is full of uneducated, morally corrupt, sleazy baby mamas hooking up with NFL players. Why go out of State to import one?

The irony behind all of the shows that I hear about that are based on Atlanta, is that none of these people are actually from here (besides Kandi). Go figure, people from Atlanta born and raised here, no matter their ethinicity, have more sense than to be on any of these ignornant and degrading reality tv shows that the media keeps coming up with. Keep importing them, but take the name of Atlanta off of the show. Call it what it is, Love & the Transplants of ATL and the Real Divorced Transplants of Atlanta. A special hello to everyone who grew up here and knows what the Real Atlanta is all about.

Because Black Women, especially in Atlanta, have a high “Drama Quotient.” It’s all about ratings.

Get Phaedra her own show, remove silly Kandi and change the “Real Housewives of Atlanta to “The Real Fake Wanna Be Baby Mamas With Drama from Around the Way”. Instead of having them hold peaches, give ‘em pimp glasses and gold teefes.

If Kim isn’t on the show as much, I predict it will take 2nd place behind the Atlanta VH1 show….so, better get someone as equally glamorous to fill in for her. The women they have picked??? My, my, my….not good.

I won’t be watching this show anymore because none of these women represent the REAL Atlanta housewife!! I was born and raised in Atlanta, went to college here, met and married my husband here, raised my children here, and I’m sure I will die here. I don’t know how in the world Bravo thinks any of the women in this show are true southern women. I’m sorry but this show is a joke and a real embarrassment for Atlanta Georgia!!!

Reality TV is nothing more than scripted crap that has contributed to the “dumbing down” of America. Our only worth now is as consumers of mainly foreign made goods, all the while being kept in check by idiotic “reality” TV, video games and anything else that turns off thinking. No wonder the rest of the civilized world regards the US as a bunch of self-absorbed morons.

You said a mouth full, Katie. Too few realize that this is not “reality” so therefore it is not about Atlanta, nor is it about “Housewives.” This show is more like a women’s mud wrestling exhibition than anything else. I love to watch the show because I like to see how low these “women” can go, but I understand that these “women” do not represent anyone other than the “drama queens” that they are.

Go Falcons

My sister was involved with a reality show based in another city. She said that everything is scripted and that there are few “reality” moments. They reshoot scenes over and over and edit heavily. No such thing as reality. Turn your tv off and read a book instead.

Is this the image the African individual wants to display? Can the Africans in Atlanta go to school and get an education vs trying to get to the NFL show? How about the Afr males taking responsibility for the babies the loser has made. When will RESPONSIBILITY be a part of the africans vocabulary? Bill Cosby has been trying forever to get his “culture”, black, in order. Maybe the individuals in this culture can not make it happen. saddddd….

No matter who or what is on the RHOA that can’t possibly be as bad as that bunch from Miami, that is coming back again. I am looking forward to seeing this new season with new faces in Atlanta. I am giving up on NJ. That bunch will drive you to drink. No story line, just fussing, cussing, drinking and crying. At least our Atlanta reps are funny at times, and please keep Dwight in the mix.

I actually liked the Real House Wives of D.C. Those women worked, spoke articulately and actually had husband. I guess they had too much class for the Bravo money maker.

The fact that some of you seem to think this show really represents Atlanta or black women as a whole is really what’s sad and disconcerting. It’s a TV show and it’s for entertainment. Accept it for what it is. I love it, so I watch it. If you don’t like it, then watch something else. It’s really that simple.

For RHOA, one doesn’t have to be from Atl, married or a Housewife. That separates it from the rest of RH…of’s. That also helps the ratings stay on top. Phaedra’s own Spin-Off may not make for a good Show, depending on who are in the cast with her. Her one-liners have to be prompted by specials.

I really loved the show and can’t wait for the new show, however, the show is call rhoa’s , why not use real folks from the atl that are housewives.if you are looking for someone my husband is from here, but i am not . i wish kandi will talk about other topic beside the sex toys, have the ladies doing some type of community work or mentor in the school system. Let see some other side instead of all the fuzz, fighting and etc.,
