TV bits: Chad (Ochocinco) Johnson loses VH1 show, Closing Ceremony ratings, NeNe Leakes
Busy afternoon in TV news. Here’s a quick summary:

- Chad (Ochocinco) Johnson, the NFL receiver, allegedly head butted his wife Evelyn Lozada over the weekend. He lost both his job with the Miami Dolphins and his just completed VH1 reality show “Ev and Ocho,” set for Sept. 3. VH1 has no plans to resurrect it.
- NeNe Leakes said no way to another round of “Celebrity Apprentice.” Last year, she quit the show and she told TV Guide she found it too rigorous for her taste. She’s busy enough as it is with “Real Housewives of Atlanta” and recurring roles on NBC’s upcoming “The New Normal” and Fox’s “Glee.” She’s also hosting a “Glee Project” reunion online tomorrow night.
- NBC’s Olympic Closing Ceremonies Sunday night drew more than 27 million viewers last night. I don’t think that included the 10 minutes of the Who NBC tacked on at the end after “Animal Practice” and the local news at 11 p.m.
- Not everyone is cheering the military-themed “Stars Earn Stripes” on NBC tonight at 10 p.m. and includes Atlantan Dolvett Quince. Desmond Tutu thinks it glorifies war in a trivial manner.
- CNN doesn’t like how the New York Post characterized its search for “reality” TV to supplement its already announced Anthony Bourdain weekend show. Rather than “reality,” the network dubs its hunt for “nonfiction original series.”

I don’t believe for a minute a man so open and honest would have pulled a stunt like this and if he would he would own up to it. I do wish them both the best but I believe its very low of her to try to destroy his career.If and I mean if he said F his career y would he say that? Did she threaten to destroy it? He should have never married her. Plus she a conniving piece of trash, who only claimed for fame to celebrity with that ghetto basketball mess. She not really pretty and he should have gotten more….Chad there are million real “Black Women’ out there for you—-good for you—-you should have wait to marry her. I watch her TV show an it clearly tells me she is still handling things as younger females do,but has some right ideas about life.She was chasing the wrong things an I believe he’s finding this out slowly like Kim k soon to be exhusban did! Oh. I just read your earlier piece and so now I know what ‘Stars Earn Stipes’ is. WHich makes it worse. How totally f’ing demeaning and disrespectful this is to we who have actually SERVED in the military. It’s worse than these stupid assed shows make folks think you can build a quality house in a day.
NOW being a trained soldier is so meaningless that some holiwood types can be SEALS or Green Berets in a week or two. I mean they are so much smarted and better qualified than the dummies who actually put their lives at risk.
Hey, I have an idea, let’s send these folks into combat as a unit, (so they won’t risk the lives of REAL soldiers), and film that so we can all see. I think THAT’S the ticket…….

I watched last night’s London 2012 Closing Ceremony, and saw that NBC cut away from the ceremony to air the sitcom “Animal Practice” and local news, and returned to the ceremony an hour later. NBC did the exact same thing with the Vancouver 2010 Ceremony, when they cut away from the ceremony to air “The Marriage Ref” and local news, and returnd to the ceremony an hour later. I find that to be very disrespectful to the viewers, and to the Olympic movement.
NBC has every Winter and Summer Olympics telecast until 2020… and I doubt that the IOC would want to cancel its agreement with NBC, and refund NBC its $4.38B. I don’t know if ABC, CBS, or Fox has expressed interest in airing the games… and I could see the IOC offering a new broadcast deal to one of those competing networks. I believe that either one of those networks could and might be willing to air an Olympics telecast that would be respectful to the viewers… if the IOC were to drop its deal with NBC, and offer a new U.S. broadcast deal.

Another idea, other than IOC needing to give U.S. broadcast rights to a competing network… I could picture another major TV affiliation switch.
Late ’70s and early ’80s is when NBC lost long-time affiliates in Atlanta, Charlotte, and San Diego to ABC. WSB took ABC away from WXIA… resulting in WXIA getting NBC.
Mid ’90s is when CBS lost long-time affiliates in Atlanta, Tampa Bay, Cleveland, Detroit, Milwaukee, Dallas-Ft. Worth, Austin, and Phoenix to Fox. WAGA took Fox away from WATL… resulting in WGCL (the former WGNX) getting CBS.
I could picture ABC, CBS, and Fox wanting to scoop up a few NBC affiliates… resulting in NBC affiliates being moved to higher VHF channels and UHF channels.

I’m sorry that Chad Johnson was arrested for Domestic Violence. Hopefully this will all work out for him. Since his arrest, he was cut from the Miami Dolphins, and now the cancellation of his show.
There will be no winners out this saga. The two (Chad and Evelyn) will come out losers as now her husband is now unemployed. She have to suffer the brunt of that as well. Rememebr Chad Johnson is innocent until proven guilty by a court of law. For the two, I could only wish the two the very best as I am sure the two are going through a difficult time. Hopefully Chad could get another shot in the NFL. Hey Chad, in cvase you don’t know, The New York Jets, and the Atlanta Falcons could use your help. Give Rex Ryan ,and Authur Blank and call.

Back to my comments on this story…Poor Chad nothing! The facts are that as a married man, for about a month, less than Kim K, Evelyn, Chad’s wife just found a receipt for CONDOMS in the trunk of their car and apparently Chad was already out screwing around on her! No, I didn’t see the Who because I had turned it off! This isn’t the only time they cut away during the Olympics. Once, even DURING the BBall game between USA and Spain! No not at a time out! It is amazing with all the time they had for the closing ceremony, and the nearly two hours of recollection and hype at the beginning, that they could not edit out 10 minutes to show the Who in prime time! Heck, I’m surprised they remembered to show the handoff of the Olympic flag to Brazil/Rio!
