The judge speculation keeps on coming: Nick Jonas, Pharrell Williams in the mix

Who the heck is leaking names willy nilly? We’re all getting weary about the constant speculation, aren’t we?

The latest celebrity judge possibilities are Nick Jonas of the Jonas Brothers and producer Pharrell Williams. The rumors come from Us magazine, which is not the most reliable source for news. (I’d say it’s a significant step below People and even below TMZ but on par with Radaronline.)

Nick Jonas is part of a group that was hot for a few minutes in 2009 but have been eclipsed by the likes of the Wanted and One Direction. His brother Joe guest judged a couple years ago and was a bore so I can’t say I’m too hopeful on this one. Then again, I know little to nothing about Nick so who knows? If “Idol” is seeking some sort of youthful resurgence, maybe he’s the ticket.

“The X Factor” has L.A. Reid. So producer Pharrell Williams could  be “Idol’s” younger version. He’s a multi-faceted talent: fashion designer, rapper, producer, with a raft of hit singles as part of the Neptunes. The past year or so, he has produced cuts for Frank Ocean, the Wanted, Adam Lambert, Tyga and Lupe Fiasco.

Rumors are pointing to Randy Jackson going to mentor role. I”m not sure if this means Jimmy Iovine is out. I liked Jimmy’s salty comments, even if they were after the fact.

Also, Kimberley Locke from season two has expressed interest in being a judge. Given that “Idol” is going for big names or folks with major cred, she wouldn’t fit the bill. I like her well enough but have no clue if she’d make a decent judge in any way or if anybody would care.

E! Online has exclusive access right now to Carrie Underwood’s “Blown Away” video. You can check it out here. It’s inspired by “The Wizard of Oz.”

And because some of you guys like eye candy, here’s new “Idol” judge Mariah Carey’s single cover for “Triumphant”

This is why I like the Winter Olympics better, nobody spoils Curling.

Except for Canada.

Jenny – I think I dodged a Gymnastics bullet earlier and I definitely dodged a swimming update (at least the guy said Spoiler Alert). Why these people think they need to tell us what happened is beyond me. It’s being shown on TV that night. Some of us may want to watch it. Why they all can’t yell out spoiler alert and give you a second to turn them off or mute them, I will never understand.

Morning, Glad the T splost was struck down. Congrats to the womens gymnastics team…. Why are they calling Gabby the Flying Squirrel? I think that is a cute name, but some have said its not appropriate. Thoughts????

Morning!

Philx2’s song Home has hit #1 on itunes thanks to its use during the Olympics. I’m happy to hear this as I think the song is really good.

Tito, would people think it was inappropriate if Gabby was white? I think the name suits her. She seems to fly rather than just move and she’s cute as can be. Some people want to see trouble where there is none.

Deirdre, I agree, I think sometimes people just look for something to complian about. I like the name too.

Gabby flies from bar to bar on the unevens, like a flying squirrel does from tree limb to tree limb. What the devil is “inappropriate” about that – squirrels are amazing, beautiful, smart creatures – certainly not an insult to anyone compared to them.

Good morning.

Well, I had the whole evening spoiled for me and did not even watch the Olympics last night. I caught up on my Young and the Restless recordings instead. :)

Harriett, that’s a shame. despite the fact that I knew all the results ahead of time, watching the winners’ reactions was a heartwarming experience.
