CNN’s poor choice of song (’Stupid Girls’) introducing Sarah Palin & Chick-fil-A controversy

CNN apologized for playing Pink’s song “Stupid Girls” as an intro Sunday into a segment about Sarah Palin visiting a Chick-fil-A outside Houston.

“The music selection was a poor choice and was not intended to be linked to any news story,” a CNN spokesperson told The Hollywood Reporter. “We regret any perception that they were planned together.”

According to Politico, she told a crowd: “We drive by a Chick-fil-A. We don’t have that in Alaska. Love me some Chick-fil-A. So we’ll go there, Jason, on the way, OK?” (She was referencing an aide Jason Recher.)

Later, she  Tweeted a photo of her and her husband Todd with some Chick-fil-A sandwiches, noting: “Stopped by Chick-fil-A in the Woodlands to support a great business.”

The Atlanta-based restaurant chain after Chik-fil-A president Dan Cathy made comments a few weeks back construed by gay rights activists as anti-gay marriage by saying he supports the “biblical definition of the family unit… We are a family-owned business, a family-led business, and we are married to our first wives. We give God thanks for that.”

This led to a maelstrom of controversy for and against the chain. Supporters are pushing an appreciation day on Wednesday while opponents are promoting a “kiss in” Friday.

Here’s the 2006 hit song by Pink, in case you don’t recall:

What a freakin joke. They knew exactly what they were doing.
Just like last year when Michele Bachmann was greeted with the song “Lyin’ A– B–ch” during her appearance on one of Obama’s networks, NBC. Late Night with Jimmy Fallon.
You keep going ahead liberal media & doing stoopid stuff like this.

NBC did something similar to Michelle Bachmann when she visited a late night show, I can’t believe that CNN didn’t get the memo regarding song selection. I don’t like Sarah or Michelle, but I don’t buy the excuse that it “was not intended to be linked to any news story”, someone knew exactly what they were doing.

the media takes liberties based upon their own political affiliations. they make not-so-subtle attempts to embarrass/condescend/belittle their “guests” when those guests don’t agree with their pov. (see terry’s comments on Jimmy Fallon). then the media “apologizes for the oversight” and explains it was “never intentional.” Well…I call bull$@*t! Even this pathetic attempt of a story provided a link to the Pink video…just “in case you don’t recall.” What an embarrassment that you even attempt to call yourselves “reporters.”

Whoever sneaked it through should be fired. It certainly doesn’t help their case for being moderate. This is something I’d expect to see on the Daily Show, not CNN. THEY don’t even believe in the “God” they push, which is why I know the religion is fake and always has been.

Forget the fact that the Jimmy Fallon band did what they did to Michelle on their own accord, which as a musician or band you can advertise all day long that you will play one thing, but flip it and do something totally unexpected like they did. And yeah, it’s a late night talk show intended to be absurd and comical anyway. But then again the buffoons will sit and allow Rush Limbaugh to convince them that the internet “was NOT created by the government. It was created by the military, it was a DOD project!” All because it helps them to hate the President more. Do I need to continue on? Ok, because the buffoons are seeing this. THE DEPARTMENT OF DEFENSE IS THE LARGEST GOVERNMENT AGENCY IN THE UNITED STATES!! But Rush is SOOO smart to you. Laughable.

The public is crying out for real even handedness, but fournalism today gets its cue from the 70’s movie Network!

Retiring lawmaker Gary Ackerman said it best: Ackerman put it well: “We now give broadcast licenses to philosophies instead of people. While I’m no fan of Sarah Palin (and I do believe she lacks the necessary intelligence for consideration for major national office) and I don’t believe that Obama or CNN are ‘Communist’, there is still absolutely no excuse for a real news outlet to imploy their opinions on the people they are about to feature on their air through their song choice. IF this had been on one of many commentary shows, fine, no problem. But since this was included in a normal newscast, it’s absolutely unacceptable. And don’t insult the intelligence of every person w/ a brain and try to say that there was no ‘deeper’ meaning to the song choice. If you’re going to apologize, own your mistake and apologize. Don’t make it worse by lying about it.

Keith @ 12:43pm “I watch CNN everyday and night…..you can definately tell the right wing replys in the above posts. As is fox news wouldn’t hasnt done the same thing to any and every one on the left”

I’ll ignore the typos, but unless you can provide an example of a similar Fox programming choice (on a regular newscast, not a commentary show) then your premise is spurious and lazy.

As an ex-CNNer and as a guy who produced a couple thousand local newscasts before going to CNN, I am calling BS on the spokesperson’s claim that the choice of music was just some random coincidence. Show producers–ALL of them–put a huge amount of focus on teases and “bumps” in and out of commercial breaks. NOTHING is random. The teases, headlines and bumps are the producer’s and assistant producers’ signatures on their work. You can bet someone got their ass chewed over this; CNN just won’t admit it publicly.

Everybody is going to be piling into a Chick-Fil-A on Wednesday to show their support — probably have gridlock around their stores — selling those chicken sandwiches, waffle fries and diet lemonade.

Even Billy Graham is coming down out of the mountains of North Carolina and will be rolled into one the stores, probably up in Asheville, to show his solidarity with the good Christian brothers by partaking of a good ol’ chicken sandwich, waffle fries and large diet lemonade. You know you hit the jackpot when you can get ol’ Billy to come on down from the hills to say grace over your sandwiches.

Yet the same liberals who are so quick to label others as haters are the ones who do things like CNN and the Jimmy Fallon Show did. Seems like the pot calling the kettle black, to me. I agree with the person who said that had it been Hillary or Michelle, there would be utter outrage and accusations and calls for boycotts of sponsors. This whole incident from he start has proven (if anyone with half a brain ever doubted) how narrow minded and completely hateful liberals are. The man never said one hateful or disparaging thing about gays, he said, based on his philosophical belief system, that he supported the biblical definition of marriage. That is all. PLEASE IDIOT LIBERALS explain to me how any part of his statement is hateful, homophobic, anything other than some speaking their mind about their core values. You do know what core values are, don’t you? Guess not. A liberal hates, and I mean hates anyone and everything that is not lock step with there ideas. Liberals are very petty, very narrow minded, very bigoted, very racist by the pure nature of how they think and how they go about there business. They give more recognition to race and sexual preference then anyone else. By definition that is racist, and bigoted. You contradict yourselves every time you open your mouths. I once had a liberal tell me “I hate conservatives, I wish they would all die”. Very open and progressive thinking there, huh?. Just so you know, I do not want any harm at all to come of liberals. Liberals are very good to have around for comic relief and to make other people feel smart. By the way, the folks at Chick Filet back up there core beliefs by closing all there stores on Sunday. Do you realize how much money they could make? What do you do in the way of sacrifice to back up your core beliefs? All liberals need to take a good hard look in the mirror and open up their minds to other peoples beliefs and values. I am not saying agree with them, I am saying show a little respect for other peoples values. Think you can do that? That would be progressive thinking.

Caleb Boone

July 30th, 2012

Dear Ladies and Gentlemen:

After reading what Dan Cathy said about God’s “judgment,” I am moved to rectify the resulting confusion.

I have quoted below the twelfth through the eighteenth verses of James 1:

“Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him. Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man: But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed. Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death. Do not err, my beloved brethren. Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning. Of his own will begat he us with the word of truth, that we should be a kind of firstfruits of his creatures.”

And, now, let me entertain you with a little humorous song I have written:

Dashing Through The Snow!

Or:

Scriptures He Don’t Know!

A Hillbilly Carol

By Caleb Boone

To be sung to the tune of “Jingle Bells.”

We’ll call him “Chicken Dan,”
He talked all night and day,
To boost his master plan,
Confusing all the way.
Bells on churchtops ring,
That Dan is wrong, not right.
How sad it is to say and sing,
Dan’s half-baked thoughts tonight.

Oh, Chick-fil-A, Chick-fil-A,
Let’s send Dan back to school!
He needs to learn some Scriptures,
In a one horse open sleigh!
Chick-fil-A, Chick-fil-A,
How dumb can Danny be?
Oh what fun we’ll have when he
Is well out of the way!

A day or two ago
Dan said God would kill us,
Blow us to kingdom-come,
Without too much fuss.
He said we’d be struck down,
That God would be real mad,
He’d blow us all to smithereens,
And hurt us very bad!

Chick-fil-A, Chick-fil-A,
Your food is not that good!
You’ll never beat Kentucky Fried,
With sandwiches made of wood!
Chick-fil-A, Chick-fil-A,
The Colonel will survive!
We’ll run you out of town real fast,
In a one-horse open sleigh!

Chick-fil-A, Chick-fil-A,
Go back to Sunday School!
You need to learn to read and write,
Not sit on a Dunce Stool!
Chick-fil-A, Chick-fil-A,
God is Love, not hate!
But, bless my heart, you’ll never know,
Unless you study and stay up late!

Typical CNN garbage, they continue to lose viewers with their left leaning bias news reporting. Our Cou.ntry is center/right and most are not so stupid that they would be fooled by these bush league antics

Sometimes people are “discriminated” (and I use the term loosely) against for dragging their private business out into the streets for public view. You don’t want people to comment on it then keep it to yourself. Why would anyone want to known for and identified by a sex act and nothing else as who you are? This is a private business and man who is a Christian and believes in shod and runs his company as such. You don’t like it? Don’t eat there? No one is making you. As said before its interesting how intolerant liberals are to views that defy their own. As a Christian the man has convictions and beliefs he’s standing by as he should. He was asked a question and answered it as he should with the truth. God made men and women and only men and women can produce life. Anything else in unnatural and a perversion of what God made. That’s what the devil does though, he can’t create his own but only try and twist what God has made and ordained.

More Christians have been killed since 1960 than the previous 2,000 years. Why aren’t Christians being lifted as a “protected class”? Hmmm….And for those who don’t believe all it takes is one day, one hour, one minute, for everything to change when Jesus does show himself in the sky. Those who accuse Christians of being fanatical are just as fanatical and more than anyone they accuse of it. Even moreso cause they will pass laws to force you to think and act as they do. Liberals and the gay agenda aren’t interested in freedom only others mental compliance.

For those cons unable to look below surface and form an independent thought, it’s not about what Mr. Cathy said. He is every right to believe what he wants. But, when he and CFA is donating money to “pray-away-the-gay” groups, and other organizations intent on outlawing homosexuality, that is when it becomes problematic and endorsing hate. Sounds like an extremist Muslim country’s ideals to me…..

If they had played “Promiscuous Girl” or “The Bitch is Back” and introduced a story about Michelle Obama, you can bet your ass the whole world would have been in an uproar.

CNN or the contrived news network panders to the lowest common denominator and strives to bludgeon it lower! Having said that, its pretty clever to play the song….Palin is a nut, but refreshingly plain spoken….kind of a like a reliable bench player, good for a few points.

It appears all you have your opinions and lifestyes so I guess Mr. Cathy & Sarah Palin has a right to theirs.

This is why no one watches CNN. It is a FRAUDULENT organization. The only reason anyone knows this story is that is has been bandied about the media.

Why is Sarah Palin even considered important enough for us to care about? Even more so why is her unwed, uneducated fame seeking daughter who exploits her toddler for fame noteworthy! I just don’t get why people care anything about this family or their lives! I think that there are people doing way more important things in this world and they do not need a camera in their face to perform.

The vast and overwhelming majority agrees with Cathy’s statement with only .01% of the population making 99.99% of the noise against Chick-Fil-A.
